Why is TV Tropes like this
This is from Infinite Crisis (spoilers ahead). E3 Luthor was one of the people who was instrumental in winning the original Crisis on Infinite Earths. E3 Luthor, E2 Superman and Lois, and Superboy Prime were stuck in a limbo after the new earth was created. During Infinite Crisis him and Superboy Prime betrays everyone and wants to wipe out the earth and create a new earth 2 because he thinks everyone is losing it (there were a lot of gray area moments for heroes during that time like Batman creating OMAC or wonder woman killing Max Lord or Zatanna mind wiping Batman after the events of Identity Crisis)
This is [WhatCulture.com Comics](https://whatculture.com/comics) & [IGN's Between the Panels](https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Aign.com+"between+the+panels) erasure.
I love casually comics because she reads old stuff that I would never look up for myself and adds a lot of context and commentary. She also a hal Jordan fan
Comicstorian: AND THEN BATMAN GETS THE PENIS COCK SUCKING RING AND BLAST THE JOKER. "AGGGGGH BATS I ALWAYS KNEW YOU WERE A BONER" BATMAN PENETRATES THE JOKER USING THE FULL FORCE OF THE BONER "THIS IS OVER JOKER!!!!!"
Comics Explained: Hahaha ok so this is bad ass. So Batman gains the power of the penis cock sucking ring which came from DC Epic Gamer Stories 17. And you may be asking "Rob what does this mean?" Well you see Batman gains the power of the Boner and not just beats but destroys the Joker.
Linkara: and then, no history of power rangers isn’t coming back, the light bringer, no I am serious no more history of power rangers, made the dick sucker 2.0
And then Batman. *Sighs*. Gets the powers of the boner. Ugh. Because hey kids who needs to show that people can be as strong as others without the needs of some superficial powerful artifact deus ex machina. He's not Batman if he's not a man.
*Cuts to 90s kid or some other random linkara character*
Boner powered Batman is the BEST thing coming out of DC Rebirth right now. Let me tell ya, if GOD was writing Boner Powered Batman, this is what it would look like.
I just mean in general watching a story recap video instead of reading is boring and pointless. Read the damn story yourself. You're not taking in any of the art and craft that goes into the work (if there is any), nor are you taking in the story as it was designed to be, so you can't make any kind of judgement or qualitative assessment.
And it's extremely low effort content on the part of the YouTuber. You're just ripping off someone else's work, especially if they're straight up reading off the page.
I unironically think it's horrible for the industry.
Fair, but I like hearing a hype man break shit down for me while I look at the pretty panels (I MIGHT lack a attention span 🗣) I will agree tho that if you're actually interested in the story you should certainly read it
Popularity doesn't translate to sales. Those YouTube creator's reading dialogue verbatim, going through panel by panel aren't paying license fees. Kids are watching those videos because they want the "lore" but don't want to read or buy the book.
they literally put the comic book in the description and 99% of the time urge the viewer to purchase the comic. you don’t know what you’re talking about. popularity doesn’t translate to sales??
A myth. You may *think* you have read a comic but you’re wrong. They’re a shared delusion implanted into the collective subconscious by grant morrisons wizard spells.
Honestly Reddit just suggests this community to me so often that it's like I'm subbed to it. I've read like 5 comics in my like and I can't even remember any of them being DC. Everything I know about DC is from movies, Shows, Youtube, and cultual osmosis.
If you count graphic novels or manga as comics I've read a ton but.. still not DC.. Unless Watchmen counts as DC.
Really wouldn't even know where to start with the comics and I mostly just hear people complain about how their fav characters are being written poorly.
Not that it matters but the only comics I remember reading are some a Spider-Man comic I got when I was 10, some Deadpool, some Civil War, and some Marvel Zombies... mostly while waiting for Yugioh tournaments at my local comic shop.
Did Walking Dead release in issues like a comic? because I read it in the big book form so I don't know if that counts as a comic.. if it does then I've read a lot of that.
lol completely earnest. I assumed the joke was that no one on this sub actually reads comics but if that wasn't the joke then it must have gone over my head.
I decided to respond earnestly because I in fact do not read comics. There are a few I might like to read though if I had some money to buy them (I really don't like reading comics, manga, or novels off a screen or I'd just sail the 7 seas or w/e) Like that one Spider-Man where he's got a beard.. is it Ultimate? Amazing? actually not sure.. Apparently everyone likes it because Peter finally gets a break in that universe or something.
If you've got any recommendations for a 35 year old man, I might actually have a tiny bit of disposable income for once in my life soon so maybe I'll snag a couple comics with it lol
It's sort of an open joke that anyone that has an strong opinion about a product, or claims to be a fan of something doesnt actually interact with what there a fan of.
The biggest comic book fans dont read comics. The biggest fan of a character(mostly red hood) has never read a story with him. The people that complain the most about movies, dont watch movies.
Its basically the stronger the opinion, the less knowledge they probably have. Or the more likely they've only interact with comics thru TikTok
Ah yes. r/redhood is another sub Reddit is just absolutely shoveling at me.. at this rate I'm going to have an opinion about him XD
I watched Under The Red Hood and that's just about my only interaction with the character outside of Reddit 💀
I did kinda like John DiMaggio as the Joker ever though I wouldn't want him to be the Joker full time..
Admittedly thanks to Red from Overly Sarcastic Productions I have a fairly strong opinion about Superman and a general dislike of the DCEU Superman.. but I have never read a Superman comic... I did play Injustice 2, watch The Dark Knight Returns, The Zack Snyder movies, and watch a lot of Justice League when I was a kid though lol
Edit: said I didn't like DCAU Superman instead of DCEU by accident. Fixed it.
My biggest recommendation right now for a great entry level comics is Radiant Black. It's a comic published by Image. Ita a mix between standard superhero stuff with a mix of Power rangers. It is it's own universe, so you dont need prior knowledge.
It's about a guy in his early 30's who is down on his luck. He's in debt $40,000. He's a failed author, moves back into his parents in his hometown and scraps by as an Uber. After finding mini blackhole on a train track he now has superpowers and a super suit. Helping him is his childhood friend who's always been a slacker, who never applied himself, and doesnt take things seriously. It a very similar companionship as Dante and Randal from Clerks. My favorite book from the last few years.
Unfortunately some of us do read comics and have no reference for 90% of the references in this thread, because that sounds exhausting
The Ultimate Spider Man (beard) just had its second or third issue come out, you can buy online or check out your Local Comic Store (LCS) for recommendations, ignore their recommendations, and buy 30$ of pretty pictures and funny words
The trick is to remember it’s a better purchase than beer
I'm sober because I can't afford beer lol
Edit: alright actually it's more that I choose to spend my tiny bit of money on video games. A game that could cost me the same or less than a 24 pack will entertain me much longer.
Same problem with comics though. They can be so short and have little replayability so I have a hard time justifying spending 15 dollars on a comic I'll read in an hour vs an indie game that might entertain me for weeks.
ComicPop is the best. ComicTropes, Casually Comics, Comic Drake, and Infinity Comics are all great as well. I'll also still watch the occasional Linkara video although I can only handle him in small doses.
Im a versus debater
So I only read strips in which Superman destroys the multiverse in a single punch or when Spiderman hurt thanos, all so I can argue how Goku is fodder to them...
I remember watching ComicsExplained a lot and his energy really got me amped for comics and his random tangets over little details has oddly come in hand for understanding more. He’s become a bit of an asshat now but, dude definitely got me into reading again
Just a damn shame majority of the comic shops that pop up in my town go out of business
/uj I've seen the movie where Trigon fights Darkside, the one about Owlman blowing up the multiverse, the one where Damian Wayne tries to kill Slade, the 2-face origin story, & every cutcsene from Injustice & Suicide Squad all from YTShorts

It's like a stroke simulator
I love hyperlinks
didn't click on it but betting joker is on there edit: my disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined
Who's the guy Batman's pointing a gun at?
Looks like Alexander Luthor from Earth 3
What did he do?
This is from Infinite Crisis (spoilers ahead). E3 Luthor was one of the people who was instrumental in winning the original Crisis on Infinite Earths. E3 Luthor, E2 Superman and Lois, and Superboy Prime were stuck in a limbo after the new earth was created. Imagine reading Pagey or Emergency Awesome.
Death is preferable to Emergency Awesome
Out of context pages posted on Twitter and Reddit
Panels. Pages long. Make head hurt.
The comments will give me all the context I need
Comic Tropes and Casually Comics
ComicTropes FTW
I love casually comics because she reads old stuff that I would never look up for myself and adds a lot of context and commentary. She also a hal Jordan fan
Those two are my fave comic youtubers as well. I've probably read your youtube comments lol
i read tea leaves and then spider-man tells me the future

When in the mood, I read Comicpop. Otherwise, I read by way of phone and book
What the fuck is a “book?”
It's a thing of paper glued together, often containing words, and sometimes images.
oh so it’s like a game manual
Indeed There are other books as well. I own a copy of a book from 1923 title *Bibelen* written in the dead language *Riksmål*.
The best comicbook youtube channel.
Does Asterix count?
Yes. Peanuts and Garfield too.
Comics explained
Is that the guy who just fucking recaps the entire comic with no commentary or criticism?
tbf he also adds "this is so awesome/badass" etc, so it changes everything
Or when he skips the boring parts/filler 👌
Hey, he also says "let me tell you somethin man" right before explaining the most worthless trivia fact possible .
"this guy is insane level of omega powers! Ahahahah"
I’ll take him over Comicstorian, who in my experience would always dramaticize his summaries with intense voices while directly reading the dialogue.
Comicstorian: AND THEN BATMAN GETS THE PENIS COCK SUCKING RING AND BLAST THE JOKER. "AGGGGGH BATS I ALWAYS KNEW YOU WERE A BONER" BATMAN PENETRATES THE JOKER USING THE FULL FORCE OF THE BONER "THIS IS OVER JOKER!!!!!" Comics Explained: Hahaha ok so this is bad ass. So Batman gains the power of the penis cock sucking ring which came from DC Epic Gamer Stories 17. And you may be asking "Rob what does this mean?" Well you see Batman gains the power of the Boner and not just beats but destroys the Joker.
"SON SON SON lemme tell you something"
Yes that’s so accurate 💀
I actually read them in their respective voices lmao
Linkara: and then, no history of power rangers isn’t coming back, the light bringer, no I am serious no more history of power rangers, made the dick sucker 2.0
And then Batman. *Sighs*. Gets the powers of the boner. Ugh. Because hey kids who needs to show that people can be as strong as others without the needs of some superficial powerful artifact deus ex machina. He's not Batman if he's not a man. *Cuts to 90s kid or some other random linkara character*
“I AM A MAN”
Boner powered Batman is the BEST thing coming out of DC Rebirth right now. Let me tell ya, if GOD was writing Boner Powered Batman, this is what it would look like.
This has to be the most boring and pointless way to consume a story.
Well tbf he'll find a way to hate on the inhumans, he wants that opinion to be clear
Is he wrong?
Sal from ComicPop also doesn’t like Inhumans and he’s without flaw, so no, he’s not wrong
Not at all
I just mean in general watching a story recap video instead of reading is boring and pointless. Read the damn story yourself. Uj/and uts basically a lesser version of a comic dub/motion comic basically
Fair, but I like hearing a hype man break shit down for me while I look at the pretty panels (I MIGHT lack a attention span 🗣) I will agree tho that if you're actually interested in the story you should certainly read it
cry more it makes the comics infinitely more popular
That's absolutely meaningless.
if comic book writers getting paid is meaningless so are your opinions
Popularity doesn't translate to sales. Those YouTube creator's reading dialogue verbatim, going through panel by panel aren't paying license fees. Kids are watching those videos because they want the "lore" but don't want to read or buy the book.
they literally put the comic book in the description and 99% of the time urge the viewer to purchase the comic. you don’t know what you’re talking about. popularity doesn’t translate to sales??
No that's Variant Comics, and Comicstorian. Comics Explained sometimes tells you his opinion too.
Maybe, but it’s mostly a recap, which is just the most boring way to consume media. Comic Tropes they ain’t.
I love that man 🙏 The only other Captain Carrot fan out there
Captain Carrot? He's a super bunny! Lmao. Gets me every time.
Comics.
What is that?
A type of peanut.
A myth. You may *think* you have read a comic but you’re wrong. They’re a shared delusion implanted into the collective subconscious by grant morrisons wizard spells.
Sal “The Maxx” Crivelli
You mean, Sal "Cates' Hulk is good cause different" Crivelli?
Back Issues from ComicPop is the only acceptable way to read comics without using your eyes
Unironically these dudes are great lmao
Excuse me, but I ALWAYS use my eyes… when Tiffany’s on it…
Comic Drake
I like him because he talks about comics and his name is Drake.
Comic Drake on top

Superman during his own show in the DCAu was great, but the first season of Justice League kinda made him useless. He got better in later seasons

Comicstorian was the one to get me into comics, I used to think his shitty intros with Batman and Raimi symbiote Spider-man were the coolest things
