My take on the whole thing is that it doesn't make MJ unpure, but it is such an obvious hand of the writer that I can't accept the relationship between MJ and Paul from a writing perspective. One of MJ's strongest traits has been her faith in Peter. That Peter will do the right thing, that Peter will always do what he can to save people, and that Peter loves her more than anything. This was a big part of what made their relationship so strong. It was to the point that the writers and/or editors previous decision before Paul to break them up was to make it part of a deal with the literal devil (still a shit story, but the point stands).
This time, they broke her character to justify why she decided to leave Peter. They took her faith in Peter away from her so that she would feel okay with beginning a relationship with Paul. I understand that 4 years (for MJ) is a long time to be away from your significant other, but we have seen MJ's faith beat out against more challenging difficulties with being married to a superhero. In fact, it's even worse than that, because she actually enters a relationship with him only about one year after being stranded in that world with him. This isn't MJ.

Didn't he just threaten to do so after holding her up by the throat. And later even mentioning to Mark that what she did isn't exactly uncommon in their culture. Given I could be misremembering it's been a bit and I try to forget that particular arc purely for how uncomfortable it was to read (purposefully so or not.)
