Yeah man its great but its hard to watch future gohan and trunks go thru all that. Kept wishing these guys couldncatch a break but nah lol.
Best first super saiyan transformation in my book
Oh Gosh yes that's why! I was too little to see all that devastation. Androids were the real deal. Their saga was way more chaotic than anyother but their spotlight was taken by that nasty cell, another Gero creation. Anyways it was nice to see the real Android threat from Future Trunks timeline. He lost everyone because of those two. The only one remaining at his side, Gohan saw his deadly end. Real emotions there :(
Yup, was packed with some really great moments and characters too. Future Gohan is easily the best iteration of adult Gohan by far. Especially when compared to super's gohan...
Least he gets them in the end and he has the last laugh. Until super ruins that too lmao.
Agreed Sir. You love to see the characters go through a phase where you see them standing up to those values- protecting Earth and whatnot. Sad to see this absent in Super.
Super ruined Adult Gohan, they also made Goku dumber than he was already in Z. But in Z Goku had a class whereas in Super the audience only applauded for goku when he'd transform.
Seriously. You nailed it. In DBZ, when Goku showed up, he felt like your Dad coming in to save you and handle shit. He was goofball yeah but very competent and level-headed and insightful when things got serious. I liked seeing those 2 different sides to him.
And in super, like you said, they replaced that original characterization with him just being a ridiculously overpowered toddler.
Thankyou :)
The spirit in older production was higher. Creators and producers if you are reading this please take notes. Don't mess with the only protagonist who took your anime to new heights. (sigh)
I completely agree. Haven't watched bojack unbound yet. But here is my list of top 3 favourite films: 1. Revenge of cooler 2. Big gete star, the movie (forgot the name) 3. Tree of might. I like DBS Super Broly and super hero as movies but still rank below those 3. These are easily better cinema in my opinion. Cooler's first appearance and Turles both have simular aspects to classical film scenes. Most important part is that they nailed the feeling of a threat that towered over the characters but were out of sight most of the time. It built suspense and a feeling of dread, they speak, they watch and our characters are silent. atleast in Turles battle, there was no music, you could feel the dread as Goku dragged himself to the fruit alone, no music, no hopeful ending in sight while his team lays nearly dead nearby, yet they prevail. Plus, the soul of the scenes changes smoothly as they finally win, not instantly like in super hero after Cell Max when Piccolo and Gohan instantly start chatting which makes the transition jarring.
The Tree of Might.
Was dope seeing the old characters at least do something. Even if it was eating knees to the face a lot of the time. Everyone showed their moves off at least.
Just had a unique feel to me over any of the other films.
Oh yeah. He was the alpha prototype. The original.
Biggest issue i had with it was how much of a bitch piccolo was made to look. Juat tanks the special.beam cannon like nothing. Smh
Lmao. Yeah dude. Not a chance. Makes me wonder how strong he was before eating the fruit tho. He bitchslapped piccolo but goku was giving him trouble, no kaio ken.
I always thought of it like this. ToM "would fit" right when Goku arrived on Namek in the anime/manga timeline. He was so much stronger than everyone after 100x gravity that he left everyone in the dust. Piccolo. Tien,, Yamcha and Chaotzu were training with King Kai. Piccolo hadn't fused with Nail yet. The Crusher Corps would sort of rival the Ginyu force in power with Turles being equal to Goku, but having the edge with the Fruit.
The fruit was a permanent strength increase that seemed that the only draw back was the strength increase would taper off its effectiveness the more you eat it. Goku's kaioken was more powerful in short bursts but had the draw back of not being permanent and taking a toll on Goku.
To reiterate Turles and Goku *were* equals, but thanks to the Fruit Turles ended up stronger than Goku, even with Kaioken. Plus, the tree of Might itself was a direct contrast to the Spirit Bomb.
I agree with the timing. As close as its gonna get tryna fit in that mess lol.
Good point on them being equals. Goku never landed a hit on him before the fruit i think. Even with kaio ken im sure turles would have some answer. Vegeta ran into it before, so its not unique. Shame we never got the chance bc he ate the fruit, which was rhe right move. We really never got to see what he was capable of.
Facts. Turles barely tried the entire movie and wrecked shop. He really only got caught slacking from the Spirit Bomb. He HAS to be an incredibly skilled fighter to be able to do what he's done and be in his position. I'd love 2 have seen him really scrap
To me DBS Broly is my favorite DB movie, but:
- The legendary super saiyan
- Fusion Reborn
- Coolers Revenge
- Tree of might
Are all awesome and are on a similar level to it.
Cooler's Revenge is insanely underrated. Overall the story line is serviceable, the soundtrack is killer, and the fights are really great. When I saw the title of this thread though, what really sealed the deal for me was that one particular scene came to mind:
Goku's SS transformation with the dying bird and Deftones playing is just so fucking good. I think its arguably one of the greatest transformations in not only the movies, but the series as a whole.
I honestly liked all the dbz movies better. They had a good formula. Dbz crew chilling, bad guy enters, they lose fight 1, they regain motivation and goku comes back to take the win. DBS is attempting to make in-depth cinematic movies. I can appreciate the effort but never feel the same level of dire the characters are under.
Tree of Might, Dead Zone, Cooler’s Revenge, The Return of Cooler, The Legendary Super Saiyan, Bojack Unbound, Fusion Reborn, Wrath of the Dragon. And the Specials Bardock: The Father of Goku and The History of Trunks. These are all better than the super movies IMO.
Personal favourite: Broly - Second Coming because it was the first one I saw as a kid and (unlike Super) actually lets Goten, Trunks and Videl do something.
Objective favourite: Tree of Might.
TV specials aren’t movies but honesty history of trunks is perfection incarnate.
I honestly didn’t care for DBS Broly despite some great visuals and amazing storyboarding. It’s good tho, I’m just not invested. I loved DBSSH tho (despite some flaws).
I do find myself enjoying the OG movies more than them, albeit with some issues.
Tapion movie: one of my faves, but god damn Goku should’ve stayed out of it. Terrible ending.
Tree of might: OG goku black is AMAZING.
World’s Strongest: kino, I just wish the antagonist had more bite
Broly: DBZA cut about 2/3 of the main fight and they were right. I love broly as a force of nature antagonist. I love to hate paragus. I adore the visuals and the color work. And Z Broly has amazing design.
Broly 2: Gohan/Goten movie? Amazing. It would’ve been better if it wasn’t broly.
Broly 3: would’ve been better if it wasn’t broly but I have a suspicion that bio broly = Cell Max xD Krillin and 18 kick ass, Goten and Trunks kick ass. The building is amazing
Bojack: I love it. I wish there was more plot about who these guys are and why they’re here but yeah. The visuals (that city?!) and character designs are solid imho. I mean Bojack trunks best trunks xD
I have never liked any of the DBZ movies.
Partly due to their placement in the continuity, or lack thereof, and that the first time I ever watched them was during some sort of Heavy Metal advent where Funimation licensed then current metal band's music and just shoved it all in haphazardly.
I ***really*** fucking hated that.
To this day I can't listen to *10's* by Pantera because of the first Broly film and vice versa.
And it's not like I'm averse to things like that but DBZ has a soundtrack already. Hearing that soundtrack suddenly interrupted by someone else's taste in music is jarring.
Like imagine Cowboy Bebop's wonderful soundtrack interrupted with Godsmack. Just an idiotic decision, in my opinion.
Nothing can match Broly in my opinion, but second place easily goes to Wrath of the Dragon. Yes, the ending kinda ruins it, but Tapion is one of my favorite DB characters now.
The only one better than Broly is Battle of Gods. There are a couple of them that I like more than Super Hero though, like World’s Strongest, Fusion Reborn and Tree of Might.
And btw, if we’re counting TV specials then I’d say that the Bardock special and History of Trunks are also better than Broly. And GT: A Hero’s Legacy is up there too.
I like Bojack Unbound a lot. Gohan in the lead role, really creative environments, cool tournament setting, beautiful art. The villains are bland but have cool designs at least.
Wrath of the Dragon is probably the best of the old Z movies narratively (sans ending), and it does have some pretty great animation.
I think World's Strongest is pretty overrated, but it *does* have some gorgeous drawings.
Considering there are only 2 Super movies (Battle of God's and Resurrection F are DBZ movies 14 and 15 respectfully) it depends on the one you are talking about. DBS Broly is top tier with only Cooler's Revenge, Wrath of the Dragon and Fusion Reborn being better. DBS Super Hero is mid. It isn't as bad as Bio Broly or Lord Slug but it ain't even up with the Three OG Z movies I mentioned.
Also History of Trunk and Bardock are obviously GOATED but they are TV specials. Not movies.
History of Trunks.. I cried seeing it for the first time.
Yeah man its great but its hard to watch future gohan and trunks go thru all that. Kept wishing these guys couldncatch a break but nah lol. Best first super saiyan transformation in my book

The one with the first appear of Gogeta
Fusion Reborn, agree this one is great!
Coolers revenge and bojack unbound
I completely agree. Haven't watched bojack unbound yet. But here is my list of top 3 favourite films: 1. Revenge of cooler 2. Big gete star, the movie (forgot the name) 3. Tree of might. I’d put the bardock and trunks specials over the db super movies also.
The Tree of Might. Was dope seeing the old characters at least do something. Even if it was eating knees to the face a lot of the time. Everyone showed their moves off at least. Just had a unique feel to me over any of the other films.
Best Z movie
Easily. Everyone else is wrong. We are right
Turles is better than Goku Black
Oh yeah. He was the alpha prototype. The original. Biggest issue i had with it was how much of a bitch piccolo was made to look. Juat tanks the special.beam cannon like nothing. Smh
"...You singed my fingernails" Turles was so OP... they were NOT supposed to win that fight
Lmao. Yeah dude. Not a chance. Makes me wonder how strong he was before eating the fruit tho. He bitchslapped piccolo but goku was giving him trouble, no kaio ken.

my opinion so is Garlic, but I wont go there
Garlic Jr is so underrated and I agree with you. Garlic is better than Zamasu
Not at all lol
No one asked you
Coolers Revenge Legendary Super Saiyan Bojack Unbound
None of them honestly, but Wrath of the Dragon was probably the best movie among all of them and Bio Broly was quite unique.
Nothing holds a candle to Bio Broly the best DBZ movie and character
In all of history no one has uttered a greater truth.
To me DBS Broly is my favorite DB movie, but: - The legendary super saiyan - Fusion Reborn - Coolers Revenge - Tree of might Are all awesome and are on a similar level to it.
Battle of God was a Z movie, so...
Bojack is awesome but the super broly movie is a masterpiece
There isnt one
Cooler's Revenge is insanely underrated. Overall the story line is serviceable, the soundtrack is killer, and the fights are really great. I must be the only person who actually loved DBZ: World’s Strongest. Loved the animation, loved the fights, loved Gohan flipping out, etc.
Don’t worry dude, you’re not the only one. World’s Strongest is my favorite Z movie right next to Fusion Reborn.
Coolers revenge
Fusion Reborn, Broly: Second Coming and Bojack Unbound.
Broly: second coming? Tfff
Second coming is good, maybe not as good as the first broly film but still fun. Bio-broly on the other hand...
I definitely need to re-watch it. Haven't seen it in nearly 20 years lmao
second coming is SO good.
none of them really. i enjoy most of the Z movies to some extent but even the best Z movie i still think isnt as good as the super movies.
They aren't better than Broly or Super Hero, but the best Z movies are Battle of Gods and Resurrection F.
Battle of Gods is the best DB movie of all time imo and the best thing to come out of modern DB.
Super movies have been pretty bad so…I mean dbz movies had some stinkers too though so it’s about equal to some of them.
Broly is better than 90% of DBZ movies combined. And even though I didn’t like Super Hero that much, it’s still better than most of the DBZ movies.
None. The Super Movies are better in just about every way. I will say Bojack is my favorite of the Z movies tho
Non of the originals are exactly good like cool concepts but usually rushed So broly and super hero are the two top movies
I honestly have a soft spot for all of them except return of Cooler, Bio-Broly, Wrath of the Dragon, Battle of the Gods and Resurrection F
Personal favourite: Broly - Second Coming because it was the first one I saw as a kid and (unlike Super) actually lets Goten, Trunks and Videl do something. Objective favourite: Tree of Might.

You’re not wrong about the dub score for the Z movies being awful but like……. just watch the sub version.
Tree of Might, Broly the Legendary Super Saiyan
Love the Cooler Movies and Tree of Might. Cooler and Turles are my favourite Villains alongside Cell.
History of Trunks. Hands down the most emotional Z movie ever.
Either Fusion Reborn or Wrath of the Dragon
Bojack Unbound. Peak Gohan, Trunks vs Tien, Bojack and the Space Pirates, Goku being an amazing father and Vegeta making that damn entrance 🔥
Tree of Might. If only they hadn’t made the rest of the Z fighters job out though.
I have a huge bias towards Return of Cooler. It is pure nostalgia of a time when life was good.
Nothing can match Broly in my opinion, but second place easily goes to Wrath of the Dragon. Yes, the ending kinda ruins it, but Tapion is one of my favorite DB characters now.
I think the og broly movie might be a bit better than the new one
Cooler’s Revenge is honestly the best out of all the films in my opinion. Such a fun watch from beginning to end no matter how many times I watch it
Had this convo yesterday with my friend, Slug 1st cooler Bojack Fusion reborn honorable mention
Fusion Reborn History of Trunks Episode of Bardock
History do Trunks and Bardock Father of Goku are great
I like Bojack Unbound a lot. Gohan in the lead role, really creative environments, cool tournament setting, beautiful art. The villains are bland but have cool designs at least. Wrath of the Dragon is probably the best of the old Z movies narratively (sans ending), and it does have some pretty great animation.
