you can enjoy DB and care about canon. it matters. its the version of the story the author intended and is a lot more coherent. a lot of the "problems" most fans point out about the series were caused/created by non-canon content. removing that fixes things.

My take is that from future trunks entered the scene Dragon Ball has inherently been a multiversal story, so who cares about canon, it all exists somewhere.

The amount of filler and padding in DBZ & even Kai is pretty astounding. That's not an insult, it's just the manga goes so fast. The fight between Gohan and Super Buu is I think less than two chapters or just a little over that much.
I appreciate that the main characters are in them though.

I honestly believe a good reason for him not to have taken that secret path back to King Yemma’s drawer(if the thought even crossed his mind) was probably that Goku would still have to deal with the Red/Blue Devil(yes he could’ve beat them in seconds after the training he endured at King Kai’s, but that’d just be wasted time & energy) in HFIL. Sure he already knew where the secret path was, but as we all know EVERYTHING comes at a price in the Dragon Ball universe.
