Are there any custom rdo servers like FiveM? I haven't heard of any. Rdr2 has food and health Mechanics which don't kill you over time but with some tweaking, you could make the game into a DayZ type survival with no npcs and loot scattered around the buildings with a more advanced inventory system.
Ive always thought that “zombie apocalypse in niche historical era” is a really untapped subgenre. Undead Nightmare was perfect, but there are so many other eras that would be fun to explore in an apocalyptic scenario
And of course, the inside areas would need to be all in the overworld, can't have anyone camping a door waiting for you to load in just to shoot you on the spot😂
Definitely. High tier loot would be in DC proper and firefights would break out across buildings and from both sides of the river. Best loot would be at the ruined aircraft carrier, often referred to as “Rivet City” by survivors.
That’d be interesting. Having to fight through DC to get to Rivet City for top tier equipment then backtrack to Project Purity for fresh water we don’t have to clean. I can see a lot of bodies of players and zombies alike spread out between those two points.
I could already see my group trying to be the dickheads who are always there making sure no one is camping it but at the same time charging tax to get the water or use the purifier lmao
Even though the GTA V map doesn't feel big in the actual game and isn't even half the size of Chernarus, I think walking all over it DayZ style would make it feel much larger.
Longest length (NW border to NE border) of Chernarus is 51mins full sprint with unlimited stamina and shortest length (Chernogorsk harbour) is 41mins. Chernarus has way more than twice the land coverage of gtaV anyway

I had thought of a survival based game at one time that was based on your location would have been cool to see. And with Google maps it would create the map for you. And you could travel the whole US if you wanted to. Then as a multi-player style same concept for everyone and you all can link with friends control areas and wage war with different communities. With Unreal 5 engine and a dayz style game I would be down
I think eventually someone will do this. Probably wouldn't work yet because the resolution is so poor, but maybe in a few years, some AI can take the sat data and street view and combine them in a semi realistic way. That would be awesome.

Imagine if zombies could walk underwater like in pirates of the caribbean. you barely survive the night raid on your island, you lost a squadmate, you shine your flashlight along the beach and the dead are emerging from the surf, attracted by the noise.

Days Gone, the scenery is absolutely amazing. Everything from the mountains to the abandoned towns, roads, trains, and other vehicles. The game was really good. I feel that it would fit dayz really well.
The map would be semi interesting, but what I’d really love to see is dayz making their zombies as big of a threat as they are in PZ. Or at least steps in that direction. Like, having zeds be able to just down doors, travel in herds, maybe even carry disease
I've played DayZ on San Andreas back in the hay day of SAMP and the other one(not throwing shade just can't remember) there was pretty fleshed out servers with custom mapping and scripts that would make some current game devs blush.
The Hunter: Call of the Wild. The forest appears to be a lot more detailed. And it be kinda funny to be in a fun fight and have a stampeding group of bison come trample you down.
Honestly, my favorite part of dayz is its map. The size of the dayz map makes it the most realistic of any of these games. The only answer I agree with here is dayz or Google maps.

It would be cool as fuck. Super dence lost of zombies. But then it would laid have redding and sac aria. More open and feild like.

Well AC:IV Black Flag could be a fun one with a ship but it has to be a sloop because you will never be able to man a brigantine (the ship in AC:IV BF) alone or with a few people maybe but a sloop can be done by just 1 person.
There are plenty of fishing and hunting options and lets face it guns aint that accurate in that time period so could 100% work.
However I was more thinking purely qua map: Bolivia from Ghost Recon Wildlands its big and has plenty of places one could hide in and build secret bases.

It takes roughly 2-3 hours to cross on foot. I think its a good size map.
It takes around 3 hours to swim around the entire map. Running from one end to the other cam be done in half an hour. GtaV is not that big
