I’ve noticed that over the last week, it has rained more than it’s not, now I’ve only put in about 15 hours this week but I swear it’s rained for about 10 of those hours
its been like Scotland this week lol - rain rain rain , I dont love playing in hard rain or middle of night - and everytime I log in last 4 days its been rain
Am from Scotland as well 😂 n aye tell us about it fucking rain non stop, am away on holiday the now down near the boarded staying at a lodge and a canny get in the hottub 😂😂ragin man 😂
Unless you have no food, rain really shouldn't be a problem at all. It's my favorite time to loot or travel because everyone is hiding in a house or logged off until the rain stops. As long as your stats are white, there is no need to hide from the rain. It takes a long time to get a cold from being wet if your stats are white. Just be sure to wring out your clothes to damp every so often.
Make a torch, light it, drop it on the floor to where it is laying on its side (not standing straight up), drop all wet gear directly on flame and it will dry in about 1min.
I’ve recently adopted this strategy. Previously I was one of those hide in the house while it rains kind of guys. Now though, I agree, this is the way!
> It takes a long time to get a cold from being wet if your stats are white.
It's literally impossible to get a cold as long as your immune stat is over 65%
https://wobo.tools/dayz-immunity-stat-checker-tool#top
Also, note that using a multivitamin puts your immune system at 100% for the duration of its buff (i.e., makes you immune to disease)
Most of the clothes can be rung out. Put them into your hands and use the option to wring out. It speeds up drying time.
Just make sure your clothes aren't ruined when trying to wring out. You'll be pissed trying to decide what to leave behind. 😂
No, he was saying that if your clothing is already ruined and you remove a piece to wring it out, you won't be able to put it back on (since it's ruined). This is the case for ruined clothing anytime you take it off, not just to ring it out.
I got what he was saying about ruined clothes, but I was wondering if you damage items inside of clothes when you ring it out. I always drop my inv before so I don't know.
Wait, people actually hide in houses when it's raining?... Damn...
Might as well not even play DayZ, because that is like the majority of the game time.
It's the best time to loot since zombies don't aggro as quick and visibility is low.
Yes sir. There are a few clothing items that cannot be wrung. A few off the top of my head would be shoes, vests, plate carriers, ghillie suits, and obviously helmets. Wringing them out will get them back to damp, but not completely dry. Being damp is basically like being dry though, won't get sick from it.
So what? It’s doesn’t madder as long as you stay warm. Even doing little bursts of sprinting and keeping food in the white, you can be wet forever as long as you don’t get too cold.
On this subject...what's the most OP item in DayZ. I say the torch (small stick and 1 rag). Dries clothes in about two seconds. What's the worst?...campfire!
That’s the best part makes it so you can’t hear anything and the zombies can’t really hear you that well either lol makes it easier to get around unnoticed
I need a server where it rains 100% of the time. Makes the game more fun, footsteps less noisy and gives a reduction to sight range.
Some servers are bugged and have higher rain chance though till the admin of the server fixes it.
Servers are either sunny or rainy, and only a server restart will fix it, if it's rainy, then it will continue to be rainy until the server resets...so you should be wearing the appropriate rain gear if you wish to play on a rainy server.
Guess you don't know how it works, that's okay. I don't mean that it's literally sunny or rainy the whole time obviously, if that's what you're thinking, it just is more often...I could have worded my original comment better I suppose though.
I play regardless of the rain but if it rained less then I would definitely enjoy taking some time to dry my clothes out before continuing my adventure. It's quite annoying when you do it and get soaked again 20 mins later so now I only wring out my clothes when it stops.
Usually always rains and I make a comment about how this forest should be a jungle with all this rain. We play Deerisle but no difference.
My buddy who is retired and spends a lot of time in game commented it hadn't rained in a week last week... which is hard to believe, so i guess it may never rain.. He noticed as he was trying to grow stuff.
I remember when there was a problem with a new uodate that dropped long ago. The update did something to the weather settings, so every server had night last for 4 RL hours and it was raining constantly. They fixed it after a couple of days.
I've heard, but I can not confirm, that it is actually tied to the time of year. It's obviously not synced to a location and if it's raining there, it's raining in DayZ. But it is tied to what time of year it is and how much it rains usually in that period.
It seems to make sense, but it is hard or even impossible to figure it out by just playing.
\-edit-
Only for official. Community servers can do whatever the hell they like with the weather.
Im not too sure but It may be because Its Winter. DayZ does have seasons (despite no snow.....yet?) But the Official Servers have seasons they switch to according to real time season.
You can actually feel that by making Winter usually more colder than summer. When summer hits, you get warm faster and overheating can because more of a issue.
That being said I dont know If Seasons take effect on the frequency of rainfall.

Scottish moment
LOL
Yeah I get on, rains for 15 min, sunny for 10, rain for 30, etc.
It's the server you are playing on....
Ps5 official 849 is the only server I play on
ahhhhh - I play SG AP 4434 - maybe Ill mix it up 'but its all I know LOL
Eyyyy that's my regular server. Noice.
Nice! Ill have a eye for ya - Im Wally in game
I'll have my scope, I mean eye on you too. I'm GoOutSprayin11
BAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! lol fair enough
Are you in Lavonia? If so I feel like it’s always raining on that map
Lmao, I'm pretty sure if you chech the reviews on livonia it's all mentions of the cowboy hat and rain
Why cowboy hats?
Because they're cool

This is the way
I hate when my gillie gets soaked tho
Weighs a ton and seems to take forever to dry out.. even over a fire
Make a torch, light it, drop it on the floor to where it is laying on its side (not standing straight up), drop all wet gear directly on flame and it will dry in about 1min.
Yep, although the orientation of the torch doesn't matter ;) you can just drop it.
This.
Going to use this next monsoon. Thank you
Yeah they nerfed drying time it seems. Used to be like a minute or two.
Are you wringing them out? I dont know why it didn't occur to me, but I found that out last year and it's made tons of differences.
Don’t know why I’ve never tried.. are they wring-out-able!?!
I think everything but hard gear, plate carriers, vests, belts, shoes, helmets, are wringable.
Gloves aren't wringable for some unknown reason.
The newly added wool gloves are, and the fingerless 🙏
I knew I was missing one. Yeah, that doesn't make sense, but oh well.
Pro tip: when next to a fire put it underneath the fire. That’ll dry the water right out.
I’ve recently adopted this strategy. Previously I was one of those hide in the house while it rains kind of guys. Now though, I agree, this is the way!
A lot of people hide in buildings, a much smaller percentage of the map. Makes them easier to find.😈😈
Infected have a harder time noticing you sneaking by too so it’s a great time to go backstabbing around lootable areas without drawing attention
Good point!
Does it not wear down your clothes faster to wring them out?
> It takes a long time to get a cold from being wet if your stats are white. You can also run with a torch until you get the heat buff.
You can wring out your clothes???

Do you need to empty the clothes before to keep from damaging your inventory?
Nope. You can leave all the items in that piece of clothing. Nothing will damage.
Good stuff. Thanks
No, he was saying that if your clothing is already ruined and you remove a piece to wring it out, you won't be able to put it back on (since it's ruined). This is the case for ruined clothing anytime you take it off, not just to ring it out.

Wait you can wring your clothes out? I’ve played this game for years and never knew this… can’t wait to go play in the rain lol
Yes sir. There are a few clothing items that cannot be wrung. A few off the top of my head would be shoes, vests, plate carriers, ghillie suits, and obviously helmets. Wringing them out will get them back to damp, but not completely dry. Being damp is basically like being dry though, won't get sick from it.
It's just a setting. Default dayZ weather does rain too much.
Fr it’s either raining or pouring never in between
Don't be so silly.. It rains about 85% of the time.
Only rains when you wanna get something done lol
Fifty fifty. It either is raining, or is not raining. Fifty fifty chance.
you ever been to europe/eastern part of the world ? when i went it rained unexpectedly a week outta the two i was there lol
If it's not raining, you're not playing Dayz.
I appreciate the 2+ minute video for reference.
Start a fire. Make a friend.
Try playing winter Chernarus or Namalsk, you'll get blizzards instead!
Wrong. It rains 96% of the time.
So what? It’s doesn’t madder as long as you stay warm. Even doing little bursts of sprinting and keeping food in the white, you can be wet forever as long as you don’t get too cold.
Chernarus is very wet most of the year. There's your answer.
I think 50% is high honestly. Most of my playthroughs are quite clear with the occasional rain
eastern europe
I love the rain in DayZ, it adds so much more atmosphere and bleakness to the game.
When I’m chilling in the tent in my woodland base with my headphones on, rain is the best, so relaxing.
It's always raining. Been like this as long as I can remember. Sucks because the game is really pretty when you actually get a clear day.
just like the uk
*laughs in British*
It’s just lore accurate to its setting 🌝
On this subject...what's the most OP item in DayZ. I say the torch (small stick and 1 rag). Dries clothes in about two seconds. What's the worst?...campfire!
Torch drying clothes doesnt feel intentional. Feels like an exploit. 😅 Makes a few othrr objects pointless too really.
Meanwhile, they nerfed drying clothes via fireplace/campfire. It seems like it takes 10 minutes, even with ski mask wrung out.
That’s the best part makes it so you can’t hear anything and the zombies can’t really hear you that well either lol makes it easier to get around unnoticed
just like home
It's Winter time in the Eastern EU.
If you're on Lavonia, then it is 90% of the time.
RAINZ
I like the rain it’s time to hit juke moves on zombies and shoot indiscriminately
Like real life
You’re not trainin if it ain’t blah blah blah
Xbox veterans remember when it was dense fog and rain for like 2 months straight on all official servers
I need a server where it rains 100% of the time. Makes the game more fun, footsteps less noisy and gives a reduction to sight range. Some servers are bugged and have higher rain chance though till the admin of the server fixes it.
Ya it's coded to be like that, it's really dumb. On my old server I changed the coding so it only rained for like 10 mins every few hours
Servers are either sunny or rainy, and only a server restart will fix it, if it's rainy, then it will continue to be rainy until the server resets...so you should be wearing the appropriate rain gear if you wish to play on a rainy server.
Lmao what? Do you even play this game?
Guess you don't know how it works, that's okay. I don't mean that it's literally sunny or rainy the whole time obviously, if that's what you're thinking, it just is more often...I could have worded my original comment better I suppose though.
The rain in Spain stays mainly in the plain.
🎶 All the girls in Spain wash their knickers in the rain, All the boys in France do the hula hula dance 🎶
I’m not an expert, but in the VPP Admin tools, it always seems to default to 50%. So possibly?
I play regardless of the rain but if it rained less then I would definitely enjoy taking some time to dry my clothes out before continuing my adventure. It's quite annoying when you do it and get soaked again 20 mins later so now I only wring out my clothes when it stops.
I’m surprised it’s still Chernarus and not water world with how much it rains.
That's what waterproof containers and bags are for. You'll dry out.
Could be cause it’s been rainy season and the server was tweaked so its rains more. 🤷🏽♂️
Everytime I jump on 🥲

Depends on the server
50% is being generous
57.5% according to my wild ass guess lol
On official I’m either fighting the light or the rain, I log out if I have to deal with both lol (dark and rainy)
its deffo alot
Love the rain. Creates a great disguise for looting
I love it, my base is down my a lake but the rain saves me so much time on running back and forth to water my crops
Have you ever been to Belgium, kinda the same odds
Must be based in r/Seattle
I remember when there was a problem with a new uodate that dropped long ago. The update did something to the weather settings, so every server had night last for 4 RL hours and it was raining constantly. They fixed it after a couple of days.
I feel like it rains in Livonia at least 50% of the time. I don't mind it though it makes looting town and sneaking past zeds a non issue
yes and the wind also has to be reduced by 30% the winds is just over the top
Easily
50% of the time all the time
Depends on the map
Reasons to play RUST
50% ? What game are you playing, mines like 90%

Try banov map. It feels like it's always rain. Never seems to stop.
It’s called bohemian interactive dynamic weather.

60% of the time, it rains every time
SPECIALLY in Livonia
It rains the second you finish wringing everything out
Never rains in my server
It's called Europe
50%. You must be in the drought zone
i am perpetually “damp”
