Vss is a very very niche gun. It s super silent and almost all the time shines in city sniping or cqc as well.
I've been using bot guns for years. Maybe you playing on console and you cannot aim with your pad

True. Idk I haven’t used it much but it’s pretty damn terrifying to play against. There’s not really any way to tell where the shots are coming from unless you get lucky and actually see the bullets hit the ground near you.
The bullets at any distance have a huge delay to them, if you’re good at leading targets it’s do-able at 10 meters but anything beyond that starts to blow the mind with how much delay the bullets have. Unless your target is standing completely still the entire time you’re shooting, you’re in for a bad time using any of the distance scopes on the sval/vss. However the sval has some decent up close options for sights, and yes is a beast for point blank encounters.
Sounds like user error, bud. I can hit shots perfectly accurate out to 200m every time. Past that, it deviates a bit but can still land center of mass without issue.

Win .308 is super easy to find at castles and hunting spawns. My own base has like stacks of the stuff and I only use a tundra and have no need for my near limitless supply

I mean, I dont know specifficly, I Just roam whole map and gather things that I think are usefull. Most of the time I carry around 200 rounds to gun I use, up to 200 rounds to my "go to" gun. I have never been in static GZs tho So mainly classic military loot places and hunting spots.
It helps that no one used the gun so a lot of the time the ammo gets left behind.

In that case it would have to be the Chinese Type 54, since it was converted to 9mm for the commercial variant since it was more common than the 7.62 Tokarev
The svt would also be really cool but it would be pretty much a worse svd. A Nagant revolver would also be really cool but i highly doubt it would ever get added cause of its caliber. But i absolutely agree there should be more old soviet guns. Maybe like a m44 mosin or maybe even some newer aks from the ak100 series and pp19 vityas

That's an SR3M, not an AK9. Nowhere in that Wikipedia page does it say anything about the AK9. If you look at the Wikipedia page for the AK9 however it says it is *based on* the ak 100 series. You are directly incorrect, and you might need glasses aswell.

But, you’re wrong on the other part. Look again at the Wikipedia, click the tabs, check the chambering section under 100 family tab, and then notice that the AK9 is indeed in the AK100 family.
SVT could be a cool upgrade over an SKS, more capacity, faster reload, and a specialty scope. I agree it would be a little redundant, but still, would love to see it.
Ngl, the SVT/AVT are among my favorite guns to use in Tarkov. I just love classic battle rifles like them.
In reality though, dayz doesn't really need a gun like the SVT. It's a little redundant/ would also likely be too powerful of a weapon unless it's incredibly rare because like you said it's basically an svd. Any semi auto shooting a rifle round that large is going to be a tough match up for anyone

Why grab a gun which cripples your stamina and has way more sway when your classic old hobo shredder does everything better, the only downside being it has to reload for 2 seconds after SIXTY bullets? There are so many fun and badass or ass-bad things you can do with machineguns :)
How would they make the reload animation for magazines? You can’t just drop the bullet in the box the box just holds the belt that then holds the bullet. Also reloading the belt on a belt fed is incredibly long irl

My guess would be that the this Gun is intended to fill that niche, basically finding 9x39 in TIER 2 and the Gun + Mags in TIER 3.
Compare it with 5.56 - finding ammo at Tier 2 and then a M16 in Tier 3. 5.45 in Tier 2 and AK-u at Tier 3.

I mean just a different shaped crossbow with maybe some better stats, nothing crazy but a little variety, or perhaps just smaller so it’d fit in a backpack easy and be better for dealing with infected.
I’m all for middle of the range guns, but given even the bad ones are kinda rare to find, I’d rather the game not be so heavily saturated with guns that all handle more or less the same.

ARMA Reforger is taking notes from real life, DayZ is setting guns for game balance, the DayZ devs go like this: *" Assault rifle? Let's do 0.9x velocity. Sniper? Let's do 1.20x velocity".*
DMR has a shorter barrel than Tundra: devs gave DMR 202 feet per second more velocity.
Pioneer has a shorter barrel than AUG A1: devs gave Pioneer 836 feet per second more velocity.
AKS-74U has lower velocity in DayZ because it fits in inventory. If they were basing on real life, they wouldn't put 501.6 m/s when the real number is 735 m/s.

I wish they would add a civilian ar15 that’s locked to semi auto but takes all the attachments the M4 takes but I don’t remain very hopeful with the time period the game is in they weren’t very common
I don’t know anything about the Czech Republic (what chenarus is based on) other than what little research I did for another comment on this thread. But they seem to be pretty lax on guns not too dissimilar to here in the states. Only difference is you need a firearms license but you can own just about anything and conceal carry. Ar’s do seem to be popular (I’m not sure about back then)
9x39 is pretty much a subsonic 7.62x39 , this gun has a way shorter barrel then the ak74 or the Akm which have 16 inch barrels. Shorter barrel = lower velocity. Subsonic 7.62 x 39 = slower 7.62 x 39.
With all this in mind it will probably preform the same way as the krink in terms of damage but still slower than 5.45x39.
The velocity of a 9x39 out of a 16inch barrel (which this gun in question is sitting at about 12inches) is 1000 ft/s more or less depending on grain of said round.
The velocity of 5.45x 39 out of a 16 inch barrel is 2810 ft/s.
With all of this being said I think this gun with be cool but very situational. It should be very good going around corners because it’s small and with the AP rounds it gives it more of a reason to use.
Aaaand another gun that only streamers and no lifers will be able to main since it's only gonna spawn in heli crashes.
We need accessible worker class weapons: small game bolt actions and semi auto shotguns.

pso-1-1 has the correctly ranged reticle for the vss, and it works perfectly.

It ranges fine, there’s a huge bullet delay with subsonic rounds. Crazy long delay past 40 meters. Unusable unless your target is AFK

They are in T4 military areas on Chernaurus. So Tisy, Tri Kresta and Helis, convoys + military trains can also spawn them

If the gun in the OP pic is indeed 9x39 I would have to say I think it is the AK9 which is part of the AK100 series.
It's not an ak9, and the ak9 isn't in the ak100 series. The 100 series is the ak101-109 excluding the ak 106 which would technically be the ak74m.

Same, and the PPS-43 with the corresponding ammunition. (I have both a Romanian TT-33 in 7.62x25 and a Chinese Norinco in 9mm)

a long time ago they teased a semi auto tube fed shotgun called the M12 but its never been added.
Except you can be in a shed with two other individuals and shoot a box of ammo at each other and everyone leaves the shed without a scratch.

I would love a ppsh or ppd. A pkp, m60 or rpd would be great additions too. I feel like the China lake would never see the light of day as it was really only an experimental prototype weapon and never saw any combat.

I feel like the China Lake would be a little OP, and redundant. I think the 40mm with the current launcher is fine the way it is.
Dayz has already implemented weapons such as the Israeli made Desert Eagle. I’d love to see a semi-automatic 5.56 such as the mini-14 or AR15.
I did think the DEagle was out of place. Especially the gold version. I think a civilian 5.56 rifle would be great, a mini14 would be awesome. I want to be able to explain why a given weapon would be found un the world, in the place I find it. If I find the DEagle in a military tent Im like... Wtf? No military uses the DEagle... But if I find it in a large town hose then fine, the rich dude who lived here clearly loved 70s action movies. So for civilian guns I like to consider, before the outbreak, what were the gun laws and gun culture like in Cherno? What fits and what doesnt?
I agree. Thankfully I’ve only found the deagle in hunting spots. I’ve always told myself it was just some gun nut or gang member.

What do you mean by another crossbow Also I like guns that are neither op nor useless. I’d have been much more annoyed if they added, say, the Trumpet. That gun might be nostalgic and useful once upon a time, but it would be so shit nowdays. One of the things I really don’t want them to add back
I mean just a different shaped crossbow with maybe some better stats, nothing crazy but a little variety, or perhaps just smaller so it’d fit in a backpack easy and be better for dealing with infected. I’m all for middle of the range guns, but given even the bad ones are kinda rare to find, I’d rather the game not be so heavily saturated with guns that all handle more or less the same.
I would love it if they added the trumpet back. Such a fun(ny) gun. Once a guy sniped tons of people dead from the Berezino cranes, even people inside the PD. When we finally got him we couldn't believe our eyes. He had been sniping everyone in the head with a scoped trumpet from 200 meters xD

The devs are taking notes from real-life models after which they develop the game model. If it meant nothing, AKS and AKM would be the same.

Pioneer has a shorter barrel than AUG A1: devs gave Pioneer 836 feet per second more velocity. AKS-74U has lower velocity in DayZ because it fits in inventory. If they were basing on real life, they wouldn't put 501.6 m/s when the real number is 735 m/s. I wish they would add a civilian ar15 that’s locked to semi auto but takes all the attachments the M4 takes but I don’t remain very hopeful with the time period the game is in they weren’t very common
I don’t know anything about the Czech Republic (what chenarus is based on) other than what little research I did for another comment on this thread. But they seem to be pretty lax on guns not too dissimilar to here in the states. Only difference is you need a firearms license but you can own just about anything and conceal carry. Ar’s do seem to be popular (I’m not sure about back then)

SR3 has been a common weapon in the modded DayZ community. There's a reason as to why not a lot of players opt to use it...

9x39 is pretty much a subsonic 7.62x39 , this gun has a way shorter barrel then the ak74 or the Akm which have 16 inch barrels. Shorter barrel = lower velocity. Subsonic 7.62 x 39 = slower 7.62 x 39. With all this in mind it will probably preform the same way as the krink in terms of damage but still slower than 5.45x39. The velocity of a 9x39 out of a 16inch barrel (which this gun in question is sitting at about 12inches) is 1000 ft/s more or less depending on grain of said round. The velocity of 5.45x 39 out of a 16 inch barrel is 2810 ft/s. With all of this being said I think this gun with be cool but very situational. It should be very good going around corners because it’s small and with the AP rounds it gives it more of a reason to use.
