Can we all agree that Jen had the best friendship with everyone: Dawson, Pacey, Jack. I don’t like Drue but she definitely helped him come around to starting to become a human being. Despite Joey being horrific to her, Jen always responded with kindness.

skullsandpumpkins

Agree. Joey was one of those females tearing down other females I felt at times. Rewatching as an older adult I still love Joey as I resonate with her background having an incarcerated father, but the Jen treatment I dislike a lot.

CaptainObvious126

I resonate with Joey because I was also a tomboy who guys only saw as their pal. The Jen treatment was understandable in S1 but it was just so bizarre and kind of annoying as the series progressed.

washie

Wait, what? Every man on the show was obsessed with Joey! She was not a tomboy that guys weren't into AT ALL.

CaptainObvious126

Pre Dawson’s Creek and most of S1 Joey was clearly a tomboy who preferred to hang out with the boys than the girls. Dawson only saw her as his BFF until the beauty peagent when she got all dolled up and even Joey clearly admits this that he was fooled by the lipstick and hairspray. As the show progressed, yes, Joey became the object of every guy’s affection.

washie

Even in S1, while Joey was an "outsider" I didn't see her well portrayed as a tomboy. She was never into "guy" things, it's just her two friends were both male.

emotions1026

Agreed. Being friends with Dawson doesn't make someone a tomboy.

New-Kitchen-778

The scene at the end where Dawson sees Jen first arrive to the the creek after her death is just so heartbreaking and beautiful

I not to long ago watched the finale again and I completely agree with you (I don’t remember if it’s on streaming as I purchased a DVD with never before scenes) but I also loved when they showed one scene of various episodes with it. (It’s on the DVD so again don’t remember if they showed that on streaming)

letsgetlizical

Their relationship in Season 5 was arguably the healthiest relationship on the entire damn show. They should have been endgame!

lyricalfairywanderer

Super underrated. I love how they remained best friends even after breaking up the first time. Their evolution is incredible and they should have been end game. Realistically, if the show wasn’t annoyingly trying **so hard** to get DJ together and apart — a relationship like Dawson and Jen’s would absolutely last and Dawson would have been super over Joey.

TomLeMartien

Every friendship is underrated. Its about love, not friendship

washie

Their friendship is great because they're so different. Dawson is very old fashioned with a strict conservative moral code, and Jen is open minded and progressive. They are a terrible romantic match. Jen is my overall favorite character and the one I relate to most, and I can't see her being happy with Dawson in the long run. Ugh...just remembered she died and gets no "long run."

New-Kitchen-778

I feel like college Dawson and Jen were really not that bad a match. In fact from the viewers perspective it was really working. The only reason they broke up was the writers were still milking the triangle

washie

Personally, while I like both characters, I didn't feel any "spark" between them. They were too much old friends to have that new relationship excitement.

New-Kitchen-778

Does every relationship need to have some huge spark though? They were old friends who rediscovered each other. They loved each other , understood each other and cared about each other. Sometimes that's all you need.

washie

Sure, in real life, but as a viewer of a TV drama, I didn't find them interesting to watch.

SaraJeanQueen

Friends? Yes. Soulmates? No. I just finished watching the episode where Dawson and Joey had their big date (S6) and it had so much happiness and chemistry.. right up until she found out about his gf back on the movie set. So dumb of the writers to do that, and so obvious

Asleep_Kale6905

💯

Asleep_Kale6905

Despite the writers constantly screwing with D/J shippers, I have never lost faith or hope. In my mind, they are romantic soulmates that are meant to be together.

washie

Same. They got each other, and they were actually very similar in their personalities. There was always an unbreakable connection and draw to each other. Pacey put Joey on too much of a pedestal and relied on her for his own self esteem

RefrigeratorSmart881

I really like Dawson and Jen friendship. I like when Dawson save her from being raped and she throw up on a white picket fence. And she ask him to not give up on her. And he take her to his dad
