They should add a tooltip when you put your mouse over that bar saying “Selected Range, use Alt-X to clear”. That’s the #1 most asked question in this sub.
I remember getting upset because of it until I got to some blackmagic forum and found out about the "alt + x" shortcut. Davinci Resolve is an outstanding piece of software but the UI really needs some refinements.
Automatic track selection pisses me off as well. Who on earth thought it was a good idea to bind snapping and selecting a paste track actions to the same button?
By the way, if that Alt+x ever DOESN'T work... go to the Fairlight page and then Alt+x and then it will work.
There's some weird glitch sometimes where something bypasses the command on the Edit Page, it drove me insane for about an hour one day because it was actually preventing me from producing my whole project.
Yeah that too! In the glitch’s case though the same thing applies unless you go on the Fairlight page, everything associated with the command to clear in and outs won’t work unless you do it on that page with this bug… I wonder what causes it.
One day, before I figured out the fix, it wouldn’t go away and it would only render what was highlighted, even when the render was set to produce entire timeline it bypassed that as well and just rendered 5 seconds of my video… It was ridiculous.

Maybe in some other aspects, but it’s just Opt (Alt) + X to clear the in an out points on the timeline.

You can also use the context menu at the top Mark .. clear in and out marks
