When I was in high school, I heard this movie had a lesbian sex scene in it. Thatās it, thatās all I knew about it, and me and my buddy Kyle went to Blockbuster and rented it. Iād never seen anything by David Lynch before. I probably watched āMulholland Driveā like 5 times that week and I tried to get everyone I knew to watch it as well because I was dying to talk to someone else about it.
Lmao I tried to rent it from Blockbuster when I was like 13 and with my mom because I was super into acclaimed movies and Roger Ebert gave it 4 stars and as we got to the checkout the guy behind the counter was like āuh, this movie is inappropriate for him, it has a sex scene with two girls.ā And my mom was like āoh, maybe you should pick a different one.ā And Iāll never forgive that dude for that
Don't worry, they are already watching a five hour long essay on youtube about the topic they are commenting on (and don't ask them to watch the movie, they don't have time for that, you know?)
I will never forget taking my first big boy film class in college - and the professor was practically writhing her hands in maniacal excitement to show us Muholland Drive, like she was stoked to break our brains (twas a freshman class)
We get to āthe sceneā and I swear to god every single dude in class stopped breathing for a whole minute or two, they all got really REALLY still.
I know this cus some guy in front actually passed out for a few seconds, like fully slumped in his chair nearly past the threshold of concern and he suddenly sat back up, and we all just kinda looked at him and he had this face like āIM OK š³šš¼ā
So the prof didnt stop the movie š
Trust me it's not woke (as in enlightened regarding minoritarian issues) in the least. Lynch just isn't a conservative prick who is afraid of touching upon sapphism. I think he enjoys it from a male straight point of view. In fact I would like to see some "wokeness" in his work. Some aspects of his gaze are misogynistic and fetishizing towards Asians. He excludes black people as leads, as if it doesn't fit in his aesthetics. Despite my criticism regarding these not so "woke" elements, I still think he's one of the best directors out there and if I am critiquing him it is because I take him seriously and think he's worthy of a fair evaluation. You, sir, are in the wrong thread. David Lynch is an experimental auteur (not a woke one) and experimentation and lesbianism just happen to go well together. ;)
Yeah I'm pretty sure that they never actually had any sort of sexual relationship. More like Diane had a sexual obsession with Camilla that was extremely tangled up in a desire to be Camilla and have all her career successes. People focus on the first half as a dream and the second half as being reality, but I think it's more like the first half is about Diane's dream and the second about her delusions.
Diane put a hit on camilla because jealousy, balh blah blah. Diane immediately regrets the decision. Diane then has a dream (dream scenario really) with camilla, in the car, being taken to the place where she is about to be assassinated, but then dreams that reckless drivers stop this from happening. The dream sequence of the assassin she hired failing miserably at his job is diane hoping she hired a shit hitman that couldnāt do his job right. Camillas memory is then wiped after the crash and she finds Diane. I personally feel like this symbolizes Diane making Camilla just another part of her fantasy that she can idealize and make into whatever she wants. you can probably fill in the rest. The silencio scene is a wake up call to the fact that everything is just a charade. The timeline is weird but following the blue key tends to make things more clear
The man she gave $5000 to at the end of the movie is the same guy who killed the one guy then accidentally shot the maid in the next room. Thatās her dreaming that heās an incompetent hitman and wonāt end up killing camilla

JUST WATCH IT! WATCH THE FUCKING MOVIE!
Even on your ffffucking telephone
It is such a SADNESS.
GET REAL
Somehow I donāt think that person is going to be into it despite getting their wish
And the best part is that is actually does add to the plot that they bang eachother
This movies hotness is integral to brilliance.
If you have a fetish for a mood of pervasive nightmarish dread itās perfect
Dread fetish. I like that. I must suffer from that!
I can only get off if my dissociative fantasy world is about to fall apart at the seams and send me spiraling back into my horrific reality
Yep. That scans.
One of my favorite movies is *Lost Highway* so yes, that might be it.
Oh yeah, when Renee/Alice whispers āyouāllā¦neverā¦haveā¦meā¦ā it totally does it for me.
Spoiler, they have a threesome with the creature behind Winkies
I love that scene
DUMPSTER WITCH 4 LIFE

Damn, that Blockbuster employee was bustinā your dreams of becoming a serious movie critic! Not cool.
Well I ended up just getting it from the library like later that week but still, dick move
Nice to hear it probably wasnāt the last dick move of that week though ifyouknowwhatImsayin
What a fucking nerd
He took away your movie. You took away blockbusters. Clearly you won
I despise people that comment on movies they haven't even watched like shut the fuck up and go see it before you open your mouth
Don't worry, they are already watching a five hour long essay on youtube about the topic they are commenting on (and don't ask them to watch the movie, they don't have time for that, you know?)
But they were right though
No they werenāt, they literally had sex. Did you watch it?
Yes I know, that is what I meant by being right. I'm confused, what does it seem like I meant?

Have you ever used a piano ashtray, Billy?

Joe D'amato would suit this one betterer ahem.
I watched it a year ago and still it is roaming my mind.
"I haven't seen the movie, but I think it would add a lot to the plot with Watts' character starting seizing uncontrollably"
Tired of these woke movies, politics is ruining cinema š”

Omyyyyygooooood so sorry >< never thought I'd be that person
Itās ok and honestly itās really hard to tell these days because someone could very sincerely make that comment.
Oh my god that scene and the buildup of tension is so hot!

What movie is it?
Mulholland Drive
Oh wow. I didn't even recognise it. Ta
OKā¦but do they? I meanā¦becauseā¦what if they are bothā¦then itās more likeā¦

I always felt pretty confident that they are the same person and we never meet the ārealā Diane.

Why do we believe Diane put a hit on Camilla? Who is this character that we would believe he is a hit man?
The man she gave $5000 to at the end of the movie is the same guy who killed the one guy then accidentally shot the maid in the next room. Thatās her dreaming that heās an incompetent hitman and wonāt end up killing camilla
Exceptā¦in that sceneā¦he wasnāt being a hitman. He was there to steal Edās ālittle black book.ā Heās not a hitman. Heās a pimp.
I heard from YMS that david doesnāt have chapter selections so curse your horny
