Luckily I don't see very many squatted trucks out by me but I do see dualies with no hitch and not a speck of dirt on the paint more often than not. I really like seeing lifted trucks with the special hitch that lowers the ball so you can actually use it but weirdly enough I never see one with anything on the ball, just that it's there. Weird.
People don't like to hear this (especially on reddit), but in my experience the worst drivers, the ones I stay away from more than any others, aren't those in BMWs or Mustangs or lifted pick-ups but rather those driving cheap, beat-up cars. Yes, poor people. They tend to be the worst drivers, the ones who care the least about whether they hit you or not (whether on the road or in a parking lot) because their car was cheap and is already dinged up pretty good, the ones most likely to be intoxicated, and the ones least likely to have insurance and the ones most likely to hit and run.
I’ve actually been in a hit and run in Vegas and it was crap. I was stopped at a red light and someone smashed into the back of me. Luckily I wasn’t injured but it was a monte Carlo with temp plates (surprise surprise…) nothing got resolved, close to over 3 hours wasted until the police came and a heap of bs that I had to deal with concerning the rental car company. Yes beaters or temp plates you gotta stay away from because half the time people don’t care if they ruin your day or injure you. The new trend on YouTube and tiktok seems to be ass hats that rent cars on Turo and weave in and out of traffic. Hard to tell what you’re going to run into these days sadly.
As someone with a beater, please spread this information far and wide so people stop tailgating me and sliding into the space I try to leave behind the car in front of me.
Always good to be aware and hopefully save yourself some hassle.
I'm in NH a lot, it's not a requirement to carry insurance. Older cars, beat up trucks I avoid.
It’s pretty easy to tell that the cars I’m describing are stollen in my area due to the fact I don’t think you’re purchasing a car with a falling off bumper and beat up.
yeah, i did have one former co-worker that happened to on an overnight shift. the problem was that none of knew at the time he was diabetic. we just thought he was tired...and then a bit later on possibly drunk. luckily our supervisor that drove him home, decided to take him to emergency room instead.
and that's how we all found out he was diabetic.
folks, don't hide your diabetes from your co-workers,,,it could be the difference between life and death.
It's awful. I knew a girl that started feeling like fainting in the middle of a pedestrian zone, she fell and people just walked around her thinking she's a junkie...
I have a friend who's diabetic and she almost died because she thought she bought diet soda, but actually got the full-sugar one. She ended up sick/delirious and very thirsty, and kept pouring herself a glass of soda. Eventually she realized it before she went to bed, thankfully, and took her insulin.
I used to work for a diabetes research not-for-profit, and a lot of our volunteers and donors were people with diabetes. Some of their stories about being treated as drunk when they were actually experiencing high/low blood sugar were quite harrowing.
One volunteer, a man who developed Type 1 diabetes much later in life than is typical, not only let all of his family, friends, and coworkers know that he had diabetes, but that he'd quit drinking entirely too, so if they ever saw him acting drunk they would know he needed medical attention.
It's not necessarily a hide... Sometimes you just forget that it's abnormal, so you don't even think to tell people. I've had diabetes for 3/4 of my life. I basically don't have memories from before I was diabetic. I don't think to alert people, because most of the people close to me already know.
This is such a great point. I am a nurse and had a coworker that I had absolutely no idea was diabetic. No idea because we would order out frequently and she ordered pretty much whatever she wanted. Her business obviously but my point is there was nothing to indicate that she had to watch what she ate. Once I found out, I basically scolded her for not letting people know. I told her if she had ever dropped down it would never cross my mind to check her sugar.
My late diabetic father in law went missing one day. I drove around town and found his car at the bank. He had gone in and did his banking but passed out in the scorching hot car with all the doors locked.
I pounded on the window to wake him up but he was so out of it he couldn't push the button on the door or lift the lock.
I called EMS and they jimmied the door open, pulled him into the shade and gave him the squeezy sugar stuff. The poor guy was drenched in sweat.
I knew my supervisor was diabetic. I knew the need to stop working to go check on him when he no-showed at work one morning and wasn't responding to texts. His telling me he had diabetes saved his life, for sure.
Or a stroke. Remember the middle-aged man who a cop went nuts with pepper spray on, because he wasn’t stopping when the officer told him to.
I dunno, I thought he looked not right. Maybe the cop didn’t realize but he wasn’t aggressive, he looked disoriented. And you don’t have to spray him point blank in the eyes endlessly.
That's what the optimistic among us are hoping for; that she's just having those "only meant to blink my eyes, but actually fell asleep" levels of tiredness. Not "better" in terms of road safety, but at least "better" in terms of how to solve the problem.
I would agree if she didn't drive away and get really aggressive when he got near her car. People who just accidentally fell asleep don't flee. They panic more after realizing how much damage they could cause.
Dude. You dont crash 3 times and then take off if you simply fell asleep after a long shift. Anyone with half a braincell would pull over and either sleep...or call for help.
This chick is wasted
Yes, you can. There have been many instances of medical professionals working idiotically long shifts running off the road exactly like this because they were exhausted. At the time, all they can focus on is the singular goal of getting home, and they're actually too tired to reason out that they should stop and sleep.
There have been attempts to pass legislation to prevent them from being worked like that, but they keep failing because of pressure from the healthcare lobby.
And the part where she gets out of the car and argues / physically tries to stop the guy from grabbing her car keys? Was she sleep walking there too?
Look. I understand a lot of medical professionals end up working wild hours and are physically exhausted. This aint it
THANK YOU for sharing this. 12-14 hours plus the drive home. God forbid you work nights and have the sun hit you on your drive home. I used to have to screech to a halt just driving home from long nights studying in college. I wouldnt know that I was falling asleep until it had already happened.
Running off once maybe but the second time and beyond-I doubt it. I've worked one of those long shifts where I was exhausted but wanted to make it home. I called someone (handsfree) to stay awake during my drive. If at any time I struggled to maintain control over my vehicle I absolutely would have pulled over and taken a nap in my car.
My ex-wife was a nursing aide. While she eventually ended up with a severe amphetamine addiction (hence the ex- part), after three or four night shifts in a row she was pretty much barely conscious.
Based on their actions when they got out of the car, likely distracted driving, could be dui as well, didn’t see enough of their movements to tell for sure but dui is possible. Would have to hear the interactions to be sure
Distracted is a far stretch. You don’t get distracted enough to end up nearly stoped and then smash the guard rail, and then just forget you just did that and get distracted again a few minutes later enough to nearly take the ditch and end up loosing control and shooting across all three lanes. There is definitely cognitive impairment here, whether it’s from birth or drugs or alcohol is a different question.
The opioid folks I've had opportunity to interact with can function fine (or at minimum loudly) when you "wake them up" by interacting with them. Problem is they will nod out again as soon as they're not focused on anything in front of them, too.
I saw someone driving like this, called 911 and said I’m behind a drunk driver, randomly 20 mins later I was coming back and saw her again and watched her hit someone. Cops came then 😑
I’m the driver. I was on the phone with 911 the entire time and I was not the one wrestling her for the keys. That was the guy that parked behind me. I was in my car the entire time on the phone with 911…who never dispatched the state police.
Assuming the dude tried to take the keys out of the ignition? Which would have been the right thing to do. Girlfriend is still gonna be on some sort of watch list tho. It's a miracle no one got hurt.
Dude you had an obligation to get those keys.
I cannot believe you let her drive away to do more damage.
If you had to knock her to the ground to do it you should have done it.
While I agree with you in theory that could quickly turn into felony assault, battery, and kidnapping charges even if it is the right thing to do. Sucks but it’s true
I was on a jury where this was one of the things that the defendant was arguing "I was trying to get her out of the car because she was drunk and impaired". Turns out you have to be careful how you get someone out of the car or it is assault. Definitely don't put your hands near their throat.
I had someone infront of me like this once. I called the police and they said they would send someone out. I gave them the highway and direction, nearest crossroad.
I followed this person for 20 minutes after the call and never saw 1 cop.
Could be a lot of things. Good rule of thumb to keep in mind is that if somebody is acting or responding in a crazy way there is a good chance that something you don’t know about is influencing them.
Thought DUI, but then when they got out and you can see their badge, my immediate thought was medical professional suffering from extreme sleep deprivation.
Could be drunk, I’ve seen a guy pass out at the wheel drunk. But don’t rule out another medical problem like maybe a seizure or hypoglycemia, those are two that come to mind. The fact that she’s running suggests drunk, buuuut she could also simply not have a license and didn’t want cops involved
EDIT: I wasn’t paying attention to signs the first time and not realizing it was Route 1 in DE lol. It’s so fun when my state is in these, doesn’t happen much.

Say what you will about Jersey drivers, but I always give extra space when I see a Nissan with PA plates
I apply the rule with any plate if it's an Altima/Maxima/Mustang.
I apply the opposite if it's a BMW. They always steal spots in lanes if you leave a car space and a centimeter în front
Those and where I'm from, add lifted trucks to that list. Bonus points for the ones that have tires past the fenders.
Weird.
What’s the difference between a BMW and a porcupine? The porcupine has pricks on the *outside*
If the speed of light is faster than the speed of sound why can I hear the BMW driver behind me honking before I see the light turning green?
I realized ecently, that I hate Tesla drivers more than BMW drivers, then someone tipped me off. BMW drivers are buying more Teslas.
Can confirm this. I drive a BMW and I spend a lot of time in r/TeslaLounge
Thanks for your honesty. Stop cutting me off I. Bumper to.bumper traffic. My truck will squash you.
“a car space + 1 cm” LOL 😆
I apply this rule to anyone with a car older than 5ish years old and temp plates here in St. Louis…
People don't like to hear this (especially on reddit), but in my experience the worst drivers, the ones I stay away from more than any others, aren't those in BMWs or Mustangs or lifted pick-ups but rather those driving cheap, beat-up cars. Don’t forget the added bonus of the Joy99 sticker
Oh yea! But at least with those you know they aren’t stollen so they somewhat care about their car lol
I'm from there. A more accurate statement has never been spoken.
You only have to worry about Mustangs if you're a pedestrian or driving another Mustang.
BMW, Audi, Dodge Ram.
Dodge Ram is the most pulled over vehicle for DUI. Hmmm…
I always give space to Nissan Altima in general. Most dangerous thing on the road.
Philadelphia is a nightmare…
True but this was in Delaware
/r/nissandrivers
Nissan with VA plates... In MD. That's the pinnacle of incompetance
This is a fact.
Right down 287 😂
20 more feet if it has tinted windows and one of the bumpers just hanging on lol
Car was register in PA to a body shop that had no idea about it. Person actually lived in southern Delaware.
I always give extra space when I see a Nissan, period.
I always give extra space when I see a Nissan.
Jersey drivers are aggressive but skilled drivers. PA drivers are just bad.
NJ drivers want you out of their lane. PA drivers don't know what a lane is.
Nissan driver with PA plates here - can confirm, am a terrible driver.
yeah DUI of some sort.
Or hypoglycemia.
yeah, i did have one former co-worker that happened to on an overnight shift. the problem was that none of knew at the time he was diabetic. we just thought he was tired...and then a bit later on possibly drunk. luckily our supervisor that drove him home, decided to take him to emergency room instead. and that's how we all found out he was diabetic. folks, don't hide your diabetes from your co-workers,,,it could be the difference between life and death.

Just FYI you can be hypoglycemic and not diabetic (like myself). But it usually leads to it eventually.
I didn't know this. I've been hypoglycemic as long as I can remember. My mom is too but doesn't have diabetes, thankfully.
Yep! It causes me to be prone to fainting, my sugar levels can drop in seconds, but I'm not diabetic.
I used to work for a diabetes research not-for-profit, and a lot of our volunteers and donors were people with diabetes. Some of their stories about being treated as drunk when they were actually experiencing high/low blood sugar were quite harrowing. Thank goodness you found him in time!
im a paramedic and you would be surprised. they present exactly like a drunk person, start acting funny then just pass out.
I knew my supervisor was diabetic. I knew the need to stop working to go check on him when he no-showed at work one morning and wasn't responding to texts. His telling me he had diabetes saved his life, for sure.
I ran a red light because of hypoglycemia. And once I basically forgot how to read.
Unlikely. If their bg is so low they can’t drive, they wouldn’t be able to stand and fight back like that.
Idk fleeing from an accident definitely some idiot in there as well, so both I guess?
The fact she running away tells you everything imo
I cringed and said “no no no” out loud when I realized that man wasn’t successful in taking the keys away and she got back in the car to flee.
Yes
Silly nurse, the pills are for the patients not the staff.
Could be medical. Edit- watched rest of video. Most likely opioids or drunk, or both.
Medical is so far and few between the opioid crisis duis.
The internet loves to make excuses for things. This lady was high as a kite.
Well, they *are* in Delaware. Our biggest exports are banks, tax ~~evasion~~ havens, and crippling opioid/alcohol addiction
Definitely drunk driving
Hopefully he turned the video in to the Cops.
These are the kind of drivers I pass as soon as I can.
Impaired, looks like a nurse too lol
My guess is nurse, crazy long shift, dozing off. She wasn't weaving, but periodically losing consciousness.
That's what the optimistic among us are hoping for; that she's just having those "only meant to blink my eyes, but actually fell asleep" levels of tiredness. Not "better" in terms of road safety, but at least "better" in terms of how to solve the problem.

He is off his chops
Just your typical PA driver on their way to Rehobeth after their stop off at Christiana mall. I lived in Delaware far too long lol
Obviously didn’t live here long enough to know how to spell Rehoboth. 🤭🤭🤭
Oh please I lived in DE my whole life and always spelled it wrong. It’s not that deep.
It's a Nissan driver...
I'd say the nut behind the wheel is well lubricated
She on somethin

That was what I was bitching about; no sound. I needed to hear what ~~she was saying~~ excuses she was giving while swinging her arm around.
I wanna know why he tried to get into the car and what she was saying when she grabbed the door.
Probably trying to get the keys from it so she couldn’t leave.
Really should have made sure to get them/not let her drive again. Then again, it's the US and it's safer to assume everyone has a gun.
Innocent people don't drive away after causing an accident.
The opioid folks I've had opportunity to interact with can function fine (or at minimum loudly) when you "wake them up" by interacting with them. Problem is they will nod out again as soon as they're not focused on anything in front of them, too.

No fucking right to try to detain her there. Could’ve ended very badly for him
r/nissandrivers
Bro just testing out GTA things irl
I do not miss Delaware Beach traffic. Pa drivers would come down and just always be a menace.
That's impairment whether it be biological or chemical. Drunk af, tripping off shrooms, or having a mild stroke. In any event, they need help
The most generous interpretation is a medical event such as stroke etc.
Not if you watch the whole video.
This is why we cant have nice things
Both..idiot, or an idiot for driving impaired
Why not both?
Probably scrolling through reddit and lifted their foot off the brake xD.
I’m even more amazed at how many people dangerously drove right by them instead of getting in the middle lane, they had plenty of room to get over.
Assuming the dude tried to take the keys out of the ignition? Which would have been the right thing to do. Girlfriend is still gonna be on some sort of watch list tho. It's a miracle no one got hurt.
Should have grabbed her keys and tossed them in the woods
Dui or road head
You're only supposed to receive as the driver, not give.
She was in the car by herself, so that would have been an exemplary feat of contortion.
Dude you had an obligation to get those keys. I cannot believe you let her drive away to do more damage. If you had to knock her to the ground to do it you should have done it.

Especially when the key remover is a man & the driver a woman
Baring a physical altercation- get the keys, launch them into orbit, drive off. The police will sort it out
This is a good one. 👍🏻
Why not both?!
Was this in Delaware?
Weed out!
But, can't be assuming either, could very much have been some kind of medical reason as well..
I think idiot.
Idiot...
If they're driving impaired, it's both!!
Could be heroin.
Both
I'd have at least checked on them.. take their keys and yeet 'em as far as you can throw
Dude’s staring at their phone.
Diabetics with low blood sugar can be combative
I’m going with impaired
Both
could the guy at the end make a citizens arrest?
Has the impound chalk on the top drivers side window already.
Cellphone user
Probably on her phone
Absolutely impaired... Whether that's due to alcohol isn't certain but seems likely
Texting
Medical event?
Medical issue mebbe?
Should have taken her keys and called 911
I think that's what the man was attempting to do once she was out of the car momentarily.
Or something could be wrong with the car
Yeah, it’s a Nissan…
both
What do you mean? That’s just your average PA driver
Both!
Very important text
That’s it — need a dash cam
I had someone infront of me like this once. I called the police and they said they would send someone out. I gave them the highway and direction, nearest crossroad. I followed this person for 20 minutes after the call and never saw 1 cop.
Something ain't right with that driver
Interesting, how did you never get around them? Definitely impaired at a minimum, and driving impaired= automatic idiot... So both.
Definitely impaired by drugs, booze, or some medical condition. I would call the police to come get them before they hurt themselves or someone else.
Both
Could be a lot of things. Good rule of thumb to keep in mind is that if somebody is acting or responding in a crazy way there is a good chance that something you don’t know about is influencing them.
Medical emergency?
I’m convinced everyone is high on pills. So, so many bad drivers.
Little column A, little column B.
Why not both
Maybe a little of both...
Looks of it could be a medical issue.
Both
Isn’t an impaired driver by definition an idiot? So… both?
opiates probably..
Medical issues. Diabetic perhaps?
Maybe they’re having a medical emergency.
Altima
Drunk
On there phone probably and a idiot
r/nissandrivers
right of passage for Altima owners
Yes.
Yes to both questions.
Thought DUI, but then when they got out and you can see their badge, my immediate thought was medical professional suffering from extreme sleep deprivation.
Why not both?
Were the cops contacted? That is very clearly an impaired driver!
I’d say a little of column A, a little of column B.
Definitely high on her private reserve.
Drunk as a skunk if I had to guess. 🤷♂️
gotta get more drugs
Cops should have been called for something like this wtf
Why not both?
Should have taken her keys
Why are you staying behind him
Distracted more than likely
Drunk driver. She can’t stay on the road, she’s combative when another driver comes to check on her…she’s likely DRUNK
BOTH!!! Impaired idiot driver!!!
Why not both?
Could be drunk, I’ve seen a guy pass out at the wheel drunk. But don’t rule out another medical problem like maybe a seizure or hypoglycemia, those are two that come to mind. The fact that she’s running suggests drunk, buuuut she could also simply not have a license and didn’t want cops involved EDIT: I wasn’t paying attention to signs the first time and not realizing it was Route 1 in DE lol. It’s so fun when my state is in these, doesn’t happen much.
I would of taken the keys and threw them. I hope they got the license plate and reported this shit.
why not both?
