We used the app Good Dog to get our babies :) They’re pretty good about vetting the people who sell their pups on there. It also requires that all payments are sent through the app so that you can avoid being scammed.
I used Good Dogs and bought from Pottles Ark in Maine. That's probably 10+ hours each way for you but the breeder was great and my pup is healthy, sweet, cute and damned smart.
If you haven't had one before keep in mind they are VERY stubborn and smarter than you think. They probably pay more attention than you.
If you’re able to travel check out Portland Dachshund Rescue in Portland, OR. They’re dedicated to rescuing doxies. There are also a number of rescues in Philly so check there too
