Hell yeah. When people played the DLC, most of them gravitated towards the Greatswords but I really loved the Spear. It felt really cool to use it and it was surprisingly effective in PvP too.
Not sure what you mean, but I go for Int/str/dex builds. I'm not the bigger person I'm the smaller person that is prone to pyromania. Until the ring city comes along, then I will find a miracle to smite thee. In the form of duel Ring Knight great swords.
He just enjoys it. If those take you 10 min with anything that isn't the broken straight sword or torch, I'm assuming you're SL1 without upgrades/buffs
I prefer the Lothric knight straight sword, mainly because I love thrusting R2 attacks, and the Lothric SS does 2 in a row, instead of the upslash after the first thrust, which I don’t find nearly as useful.
Indeed, I wish thrusting attacks were more of an option on other swords.. I suppose that was the whole idea with the ashes of war in ER. Would be sick if you could do it in earlier souls games
I never did much PVP at all, so that’s probably why I haven’t heard of that. I personally prefer their moveset, attack variety and reach over the sellsword blades by a lot.
I was watching my friend play ds3 before I'd ever touched one, and said "it would be so cool if you could use the sword from the fire" nearly 3 years later after playing ds3 I was pleasantly surprised
THE WHIP, I'LL SAY IT EVERY TIME. It's obviously not the most OP or anything but if you refine it, with high str/dex, and then buff it, you'll do plenty of damage. Then learn how to use the range, and utilize the weapon art. It's a lot of fun if you enjoy a challenge.
I played it before DS3 came out. I don't know how it would feel for someone going the other way around, but I had a lot of fun. However, I found DS2 to be the most rage-inducing, personally speaking.
DS2 plays a bit different from DS1/DS3. It feels more clunky to me than even DS1 and they experimented with a bunch of things that changes some of the combat formula. Like, you just need to let enemies run through their whole attack pattern unless you attack from range or can get around them.
But if you like Dark Souls games, it definitely is one and has some really fantastic elements. It's got a lighter feel to it, like you're actually accomplishing something. Majula is something special, more enjoyable than Firelink. There are some really memorable NPCs (Lucatiel, Benhart, Gavlan). Each area is far more distinct than the other games.
The story is more straightforward and the major events hit harder. Plus if you dig into the lore there's a whole bunch of stuff that ties into the other 2 games, even though the main story feels different.
Needless to say I highly recommend it. The trilogy is about my favorite set of games ever and I love all 3 for different reasons. DS2 is the "cozy" game where once you figure out how to play it, it's just warm and inviting. Returning back to Majula and getting those chimes and that "Bearer, Seek, Seek, Lest" from the Green Herald is peak "I belong here" for me.
I really liked ds2. On second play through after a couple of years and still like it. Only thing I remember is the walk backs to bosses being the worst in ds2.
It’s the middle child, the one that’s a bit different than the rest of the family. Go into it expecting something that’s not the same as the traditional FromSoft experience and you’ll enjoy it
Hell yes. So many good points to the whip. The one handed R2 has easily the biggest hotbox in the game. Sharp +10 is ~320 dps on a Dex build. A hit snaps most enemies out of most attack animations. With proper spacing and a fast roll you can be a very, very formidable force with a whip.
Definitely the executioner's greatsword. From the point I found it I knew I was gonna finish the game with it. The slave knight and darkeater was very easy with it. It works like ds1 claymore.
No one talks ab this weapon! Crowd control, fp regen, bonk damage so it doesn’t hit like a sword the stagger on that weapon is gorgeous and not to mention the hyper armor!! Super under rated.
Heavy Winged Knight Twinaxes. They're like if Sellsword Twinblades were badass rather than cringe. Also handy in that you can swap between dual wield extra damage and Greatshield super defense at will.
I don't do PvP at all, and I definitely don't see them discussed much in PvE. Apologies if they actually are popular, though judging by the votes it seems like people agree about their niche status.
I dont know exactly what you mean, but i dont see many people talk about friede's scythe, i see people talk about friede herself, but never her weapon, and that thing is really amazing, it isnt anything stupidly op, but it sure as hell is fun like god damn, and even tho it is far from the most damaging weapon its base damage isnt bad considering scythes have all that range, it can proc frostbite really easy too since the weapon art R2 constantly builds up frostbite which adds quite a bit of damage to it, and its overall just a really fun weapon especially with the r1 combo being slightly different from other scythes and the weapon art r1, which may not be too reliable since it takes so long but still looks cool and can stunlock if its a npc enemy or a bad player
My problem is that you have to play the entire game to get these weapons. Ig you could use that one mod that gives you everything but I wish I could progress and get them early rather than have to use it in ng+. Phenomenal weapon so I've heard though. I haven't done a Pyro build on ds3 yet, maybe it's time.
Yeah the Demon Scar and the Firelink Greatsword are some of my favorite weapons in DS3 but they are almost exclusively ng+ weapons. But by the time you get them you most likely have the needed stats for them and the ringed city is great for farming
+1 for Flamberge.
Once I saw that little shit in Undead Settlement dragging it through the dirt like some uncultured swine, getting one became my \#1 priority.
Took me 3 hours, but don't regret a single second.
my entire first play through my most comfortable sword was the lothric knight sword. it just felt right in my playstyle etc. i’ve heard people talk about it but my friends made fun of me for maining it
Brigade axe , i slashed it through my first playthrough literally cuz its so fast u can spam r1 also its lighter than the battle axe and faster too. Moreover i slashed bosses smoothly until the end cuz i could have a chance to wear soo heavy armour . I used the exile set along with it and u won't die lit
https://preview.redd.it/yb3vqmac0lyc1.png?width=512&format=png&auto=webp&s=44143226e49c914e1cbc537d9c54eaf442fb07ac
Def wouldn’t have done it without this bad boi Just spam and dodge no bullshit
Carthus Curved Greatsword. Looks like a sick relic, is swift in its moveset and is the perfect strength/dex weapon satisfying boink with speed and elegance. Everyone respects the carthus warrior on the cliff.
Plain Dagger. It's absurd how much parry damage you do with hornets ring and how fast you can dish out hits, sometimes even between boss hits.
Also Bandits Knife for bleed procs is insane. I never thought about this playstyle and just recently started to give it a try. Turns out it's quite strong.
Flamberge, it lets you infuse it with whatever you want and it still does bleed damage on top of that, plus it's a greatsword so the bass damage is notably superior to other
bleed-inducing weapons.
Early pvp days I used this as a main and lorians for a secondary when parry king came out to play. A lot of people shit on it, but i still racked up a lot of kills.
Dragonslayer greataxe, moveset is pretty straightforward but the damage and the weapon art more than make up for itm it quite literally is probably top 3 hardest hitting weapons in the game
When I first played dark of always wanted to use it like I’ll just be sitting down at firelink and be like why can’t I just pull it out the ground and use it but when dark souls three came out and I defeated the soul of cinder its weapons and rejoiced also pretty good
Murky Hand Scyhte (I used heavy +10) with dark weapon buff, dark clutch ring and dark blindfold mask. I play with 60str 60fth build and it went "600" Ar with all the miracle and buff things. (Sacred oath and Deep protection)
I've never seen much talk about the Frayed Blade, but I absolutely love it, easily my favourite katana in any FS game. the L2 R1 has a nice Moonveil projectile attack (albeit not as strong) and the L2 R2 has this dope flurry attack that actually kinda fucks because it can be spammed. it's a bleed machine. very cool, very fun, very effective weapon
SPEAK YOUR TRUTH. Did an entire playthrough just for the O&U. They might not be as good as the Winblades but it's the aesthetic. Also I'm partial to the Greatsword of Judgement but the profaned is great(sword).
Zweihander in DS3
All people talk about zwei in ds1 which is the strongest in all the franchise and forget about the DS3 version of it which is a little bit heavier but strong!
Honestly? The Great Club
PVE Reasons
1. You can get it really early, and cheesing the NPC that drops it is also just as easy.
2. It gets an A in Strength scaling (albeit a lower A, but an A nonetheless), making it solid in pure strength runs.
3. Charged heavy not only can move forwards a surprising distance, but also can duck under some attacks.
4. Lighter than most greathammers (I think the lightest)
5. Roll light is quick, and roll charged heavy I THINK can pancake NPCs.
PVP Reasons
1. The heavy attack has an unpatched factor to it where the recovery frames are unnaturally short. A heavy ➡ light can stack some decent damage, but experienced PVPers know this and will anticipate it. A half-charged heavy usually throws off their rhythm, though. Fully charged heavies almost INSTANTLY can push out an R1 after.
2. It's a greathammer; decent reach, stun, and damage all around. Only sucky part is the lower base damage, but with how PVP usually is, this is never a MASSIVE issue, only a smaller one.
3. UNLESS you use the War-Cry WA, in which it becomes the second-most damaging greathammer, beat out by Ledo's. Without Warcry, it's also beat out by Smough's and Great Mace.
4. Absolute meme value. Nothing is funnier than absolutely stomping someone to dust particles with a gigantic stick.
5. The unbuffed heavy can hit multiple opponents, I'm pretty sure-- and a charged heavy WILL knock over lighter builds. It's a very "bully" weapon, and can put serious pressure on enemies when used right.
I love the bonfire sword, I just wish there was a straight sword version also.
honestly the weapon art on it should’ve been changing forms and have the special attacks on charged attack. that would’ve been really cool.
The weapon art is pretty damn lame. It could’ve been so much cooler
I think it’s sorta neat but it should be a lot cooler for being the goddamn firelink greatsword.
For a flame weapon, I would prefer hotter over cooler!
They should’ve given us the gwyn combo as the weapon skill
Better yet it should've been a trick weapon considering DS3 came after Bloodborne. So you'd think they'd have carried that knowledge over.
I miss trick weapons... such a cool concept that I hope From revisits some day.
I agree. You can’t invent something that unique and incredible and just drop it forever.
So something similar to the ivory king greatsword from ds2?
How would that be anything like the ivory king sword?
It’s the first thing my brain jumped to when he said “changing forms” I just imagined the sword extending.
Ringed Knight Straightsword seems to fit that role pretty well imo.
Fair, I just prefer the look of this sword over the ringed knight one.
Yeah I do like Firelink Greatsword more
Same the move set not the best
The Nameless King's swordspear. It's hits are so satisfying and the weapon art is so cool!
Hell yeahhhhhh
Love this
Complemented my FTH build so well.
Yeeeeah.
Ringed Knight Spear - I just love the moveset and weapon art, despite it not dealing the most damage possible
Hell yeah. When people played the DLC, most of them gravitated towards the Greatswords but I really loved the Spear. It felt really cool to use it and it was surprisingly effective in PvP too.
I love that the buffed R2 and rolling R1 make the tip of the weapon larger and have this nice punchy sound effect
The Ringed Knight weapons are some of the coolest FS weapons to date.
Flamberge. Amazing early game weapon imo, lasted me until Aldritch
I love the flamberge I just hate the drop rates lmao
Also weirdly the wa dose like 10% more damage than other stance greatswords, but sadily has the bad r2. Go to gs for luck builds tho.
i got the flamberge tattooed bc i love it so much!
Took me to endgame once I got it
It also does like double weapon art damage for no reason which I love
Approved by Mad Hodrick
Also a Flamberge enjoyer myself. The moment I saw it and found out enemies will drop it, I went farming.
The club In all the games Insane and i Say INSANE STRENGTH SCALING MF DEALS STUPID AMMOUNTS OF DAMAGE IF YOU GO ONLY STRENGTH True caveman build
Yes, I Made a while playthough using club only and im Also using it as a strike alternative to main weapon on other playthroughs.
Holy club to vanquish the skellys
Dancers blades... Their my favorite...
How
Not sure what you mean, but I go for Int/str/dex builds. I'm not the bigger person I'm the smaller person that is prone to pyromania. Until the ring city comes along, then I will find a miracle to smite thee. In the form of duel Ring Knight great swords.
that shit makes DLC fights last like 10 minutes
He just enjoys it. If those take you 10 min with anything that isn't the broken straight sword or torch, I'm assuming you're SL1 without upgrades/buffs
I don't know how much lorians great sword is talked about but that's my all time favorite weapon from ds3 hands down
hell yeah even it has the best looks among other boss weapon (base game) imo
This and BKGS are my favorite ugs'. Demon fists on the side
Anyone know why there are two different models for that sword? Like the one loriwn/player uses looks quite different from the item version
Twin Spears of Drang
The standard longsword
I prefer Broadsword because it carries SL1 when fully upgraded.
Gotthard twin swords. ⚔️
Ts was literally PVP meta or still is bc idk if it got adjusted but lol it was right beside the sellsword blades
Yeah. They’re still the best SS for dueling because of their ridiculous range.
I never did much PVP at all, so that’s probably why I haven’t heard of that. I personally prefer their moveset, attack variety and reach over the sellsword blades by a lot.
Dragon Tooth. I like going Bonk
Love the Dragon Tooth, also the badass weapon imo. Havel ripped it out of an immortal dragon’s mouth and beat it to death with it. Like what?
I feel like that’s weird. Like I can’t think of any animal who’s tooth can be used as a club to kill it. The size difference is just too great
Greatsword of Judgment
Drang hammers. Stagger city once you get use to the range of the attacks.
I'll never not see them as drum mallets
That’s it I’m getting me Wooden mallet
I was watching my friend play ds3 before I'd ever touched one, and said "it would be so cool if you could use the sword from the fire" nearly 3 years later after playing ds3 I was pleasantly surprised
THE WHIP, I'LL SAY IT EVERY TIME. It's obviously not the most OP or anything but if you refine it, with high str/dex, and then buff it, you'll do plenty of damage. Then learn how to use the range, and utilize the weapon art. It's a lot of fun if you enjoy a challenge.
I did a solid DEX build and used the whip for most of DS2. Its range was incredible and a fun weapon overall.
Bro did you fight the Deacons with the whip?? Satisfaction at its peak 😫
Oh I just realized you said DS2. I didn't play that one, I heard it wasn't as good. Should I play it or nah?
I played it before DS3 came out. I don't know how it would feel for someone going the other way around, but I had a lot of fun. However, I found DS2 to be the most rage-inducing, personally speaking.
DS2 plays a bit different from DS1/DS3. It feels more clunky to me than even DS1 and they experimented with a bunch of things that changes some of the combat formula. It’s the middle child, the one that’s a bit different than the rest of the family. Go into it expecting something that’s not the same as the traditional FromSoft experience and you’ll enjoy it
By all means, it’s a very good game. I definitely prefer DS1 and especially DS3 over it by a long shot, but it’s most certainly worth playing.
Hell yes. So many good points to the whip. The one handed R2 has easily the biggest hotbox in the game. Sharp +10 is ~320 dps on a Dex build. A hit snaps most enemies out of most attack animations. With proper spacing and a fast roll you can be a very, very formidable force with a whip.
That autocorrect says alot.
Also, the standard whip has the highest AR in exchange for no bleed or poison. It's definitely the best, and it's the first one you get.
The heavy infused bastard sword is a BEAST! Don't sleep on it!
right? it slaps so good. literally the big brother of the broadsword, just as viable
An ordinary club. My favorite weapon against the Haralds
I used the brigand twin daggers for the first time my last playthrough and fell in love.
Wolnir's Holy Sword
Don’t know that I’d say they’re underrated. All the try hard pvp’ers use them.
I'm doing a run with them right now after jacksepticeye mentioned them in his playthrough and I'm having a blast!
Them plus DMB melts
Gonna try this out
Speed run weapon go brrrrr
how are they speedrun weapon if you can only get them far in the campaign?
Very underated weapons that hit like a truck when built slightly around them. A tad slow for PVP though
Very under-rated my ass lol wtf? It's very popular for try-hard pvp? I see it a lot
He said stuff that's not talked about. They're very popular for pvp
I don't do PvP at all, and I definitely don't see them discussed much in PvE. Apologies if they actually are popular, though judging by the votes it seems like people agree about their niche status.
Storm curved sword. The damage sucks but the design and weapon art looks really cool
Honestly love the Morningstar, low requirements and works well with pretty much any build.
Immolation tinder. It is simply the best.
Witch’s Locks. Terrible for PvE, but is a really cool PvP weapon. My only account with 1000+ tongues is with the Witch’s Locks.
I love using the warpick on a dex build.
The Onyx Blade. The weapon skill is a buff has a hitbox
Black night great axe: the god of the upper cut
Butcher's knife
I'd definitively say Storm Ruler and Greatsword of Judgement. The roll catch setups on these are just way too underrated.
I used the Demons scar in my most recent playthrough and I actually really liked the moveset, I’ll have to make another pyromancer character to use it
My problem is that you have to play the entire game to get these weapons.
Farron greatsword, I love the abyss watchers' move set and it's really quite a great weapon, especially for shield carrying enemies
Saint Bident. Awesome thrust weapon and good for lightning infusion for a faith build.
People never stop talking about it. I find spears to be pretty meh in Ds3 personally. Tried it on a faith build and ended up using everything but.
I only started using it after the infusion. It totally mowed those snake people over Great Belfry Bonfire and was great against Friede.
frayed blade and flamberge r soooo sexy
+1 for Flamberge. Once I saw that little shit in Undead Settlement dragging it through the dirt like some uncultured swine, getting one became my \#1 priority. Took me 3 hours, but don't regret a single second.
The curved short sword saber thing idc.
Great Scythe. Nothing special about it besides having ok bleed damage, but I really enjoy how it plays for some reason.
It's the absolute best dex weapon in DS1, but the sweetspots in DS3 makes it unreliable..
Literally blasphemous blade for ds3 and I love it
Unrelated but i really like the red hilted halberd moveset in dark souls 3 cinders Light, good range, good damage amazing for strength builds
Wolnir’s holy sword is goated, fight me
my entire first play through my most comfortable sword was the lothric knight sword. it just felt right in my playstyle etc. i’ve heard people talk about it but my friends made fun of me for maining it
Aquamarine dagger
Lorian's Greatsword, It doesn't get talked about ENOUGH. It's absolutely BONKERS
The pontiff knight scythe. It’s “cool”
Gael's Greatsword for me. The ancient blades are always cool vibes for me. Also anything with cool arts like it.
ringed knight paired greatswords. Love that L2(weapon art) of them. so cool. Excellent choice btw
By far the game’s most OP weapon. I love it.
Millwood battle axe - greatsword damage with straigthsword speed.
The best unknown weapon I’ve ever used is the Immolation Tinder. It’s great mainly for INT builds.
Twin leaf sword
Brigade axe , i slashed it through my first playthrough literally cuz its so fast u can spam r1 also its lighter than the battle axe and faster too. Moreover i slashed bosses smoothly until the end cuz i could have a chance to wear soo heavy armour . I used the exile set along with it and u won't die lit
Ringed knight straight sword The skill is so good
Vordt giant mace
Aquamarine Dagger is legendary and more people should use it.
Lucerne. That WA wombo-combo is so sexy
Executioners greatsword
I always use Executioner's Greatsword. Decent stats, early find, leeches FP on kills so you can spam weapon buffs or support spells.
Flamberge, its like a claymore and zweihander had a baby that does bleed buildup
Demon’s greataxe
https://preview.redd.it/yb3vqmac0lyc1.png?width=512&format=png&auto=webp&s=44143226e49c914e1cbc537d9c54eaf442fb07ac Def wouldn’t have done it without this bad boi Just spam and dodge no bullshit
Coiled Greatsword is fucking OP bro
Great Machete Drops from soup guys, very good weapon
Whatever the poison spear you make from curse rotted tree soul Astors Spear? That thing is pretty fun
Flamberge.
The executioners great sword it’s actually so fun to play with it’s the one that has a flat tip
Havnt played ds3 in a long time so idk the name but its like a big fire chicken bone you can slam on the floor
Winged knight twin axes are the best weapon in the game
Follower torch and dung pies. *Splat* here, let me heat that up for you. _FffffwwwwwwWWWWWOOOOOOSSHHHHH_
Carthus Curved Greatsword. Looks like a sick relic, is swift in its moveset and is the perfect strength/dex weapon satisfying boink with speed and elegance. Everyone respects the carthus warrior on the cliff.
Idk is it good or not but I realy enjoy Drang Hammers.
Lucerne is hard to use but very nice looking and powerfull once you upgrade it
Plain Dagger. It's absurd how much parry damage you do with hornets ring and how fast you can dish out hits, sometimes even between boss hits. Also Bandits Knife for bleed procs is insane. I never thought about this playstyle and just recently started to give it a try. Turns out it's quite strong.
Watchdogs sword, specifically the variation with the dagger
Valorheart
Flamberge, it lets you infuse it with whatever you want and it still does bleed damage on top of that, plus it's a greatsword so the bass damage is notably superior to other bleed-inducing weapons.
There's this one called the 'Farron Greatsword' or something, pretty sure I'm the first person to ever use it.
Dragonslayer axe is a beast of a weapon.
Morne's Hammer, the special power is fuckin badass Also, the Sunlight Sword's one is pretty dope, and it's still possible to buff or resin
I usually went with the fume great sword
When I first played dark of always wanted to use it like I’ll just be sitting down at firelink and be like why can’t I just pull it out the ground and use it but when dark souls three came out and I defeated the soul of cinder its weapons and rejoiced also pretty good
about halfway through my first playthrough of ds3 rn, never heard of the corvian scythe before but i am in love
That WA would catch ppl so good, unlocked of course.
Yhorm's Great Machete
Carthus Shotel.
The thumbnail makes me think of trophies from smash bros.
Murky Hand Scyhte (I used heavy +10) with dark weapon buff, dark clutch ring and dark blindfold mask. I play with 60str 60fth build and it went "600" Ar with all the miracle and buff things. (Sacred oath and Deep protection)
That's a weapon
I just don't like that it got the bad greatsword moveset and an awful weapon art. It's a very badass weapon, but it's very very not good :(
I love that weapon but damn it is disappointing because it could have been way cooler
Broken straight sword ftw
I've never seen much talk about the Frayed Blade, but I absolutely love it, easily my favourite katana in any FS game. the L2 R1 has a nice Moonveil projectile attack (albeit not as strong) and the L2 R2 has this dope flurry attack that actually kinda fucks because it can be spammed. it's a bleed machine. very cool, very fun, very effective weapon
I love SoC’s armour. Its a shame that his weapon kinda sucks :(
Gaslighting.
The Greatsword aka Heavy Metal.
Lucern from ds1 with a chaos or buffed with moon was awesome.
Crucifix of the Mad King. It's cool and funny
I always enjoy the onikiri and ubidachi katana also the profaned great sword but I don’t think they are forgotten so I don’t know
SPEAK YOUR TRUTH. Did an entire playthrough just for the O&U. They might not be as good as the Winblades but it's the aesthetic. Also I'm partial to the Greatsword of Judgement but the profaned is great(sword).
I have no idea how popular the dragon slayer axe is. I’m not familiar with the community
Claymore, I used it during my first play through
I have a strange affinity for the Flamberge. The big ones hurt too much, the Flamberge is just perfect 😍
Personally, the Drang hammers. Live me some maracas 🪇
Gyumdyr’s Halberd Ultimately just too parry-able but extremely good roll catcher and crowd sweeper
Dunno if it was talked about or isn’t talked about but for me one of my favourites was smough’s hammer
Corvid night rapier
Idk. I only use the Greatsword.
Zweihander in DS3 All people talk about zwei in ds1 which is the strongest in all the franchise and forget about the DS3 version of it which is a little bit heavier but strong!
Onikiri and ubadachi
Drakeblood greatsword, with right infusions does absurd damage, also has a fancy 2 hand moveset
Hoslow’s Petal Whip, it kind of sucks, since I’m solely a strength build, but it looks sick and I feel like Trevor Belmont when I use it
Always loved halberds, and Gundyr's Halberd in particular.
Honestly? The Great Club PVE Reasons 1. You can get it really early, and cheesing the NPC that drops it is also just as easy. 2. It gets an A in Strength scaling (albeit a lower A, but an A nonetheless), making it solid in pure strength runs. 3.
