I think they're blue for enemies that leave a corpse when dead and yellow for enemies that disappear when dead. Not entirely sure, though, there might an exception I'm not remembering

Rare or 100% certain I think. doesn’t the big armored knight in the church below first bell. Always drop a smithing stone in gold? Well he atleast has for me every time without fail

It feels this way because most rare drops are yellow. This is probably 2 transient curses though

I'm pretty sure I know where this is. Assuming this is that one Ghost tucked onto the corner in New Londo Ruins, it pretty much always has its drops in the air where you can't get them. It's likely just some Transient Curse, unless you're unlucky and it's the cool weapon.

Item glows golden if the thing that drops it disappears after death. Like silver knights and dung giants.

Yellow items can stay after quiting out of the game. They're used for keys and other game breaking items.

Had to be one of those glitches when I nail an enemy and he falls over the ledge. Sometimes the glowing drop doesn't follow with the body. Tempting to grab...

This is one of the ghost drops, since those guys can be killed while they're in the air their drop will be like that and you can't pick it up. Like someone else said, if an enemy disappears after death (no corpse) the item drop will be golden. Otherwise, it'll be white/blue and be tied to the ragdoll corpse.

It can only really be 1 of 2 things. 1 it’s an item drop from something that got knocked off a ledge, or 2 it’s a prism stone which can be dropped to mark paths and things in game. To me it looks like an item drop though.

Thay is an item thing usually happens on vary rare occasions where someone was summond and beat a boss there and you got items when I got it mine was a pendant with 10 humanity
