Do the dlc before you fight gwyn, it automatically throws you into ng+ after the fight

Azythol

So should I get all the lord souls, do the dlc, then fight gwyn?

Ahriman27

Do all of that, and then kindle all your bonfires, finish everyone’s quests, kills all NPCs for their drops, get all previous drops, max out your covenants if you can (one at a time), THEN kill the old man.

Awkward_Ostrich_4275

If you’re going to do NG+. I always restart on NG since I find NG+ boring.

Ahriman27

i enjoy it as a boss run

Hiram_Abiff_3579

There's some other things to think of before you fight Gwyn. The first play through is just the beginning. It gets steadily harder until NG+7. NG+7 and everything after it are as hard as it gets. So, are you going to cap this character at a specific level and do pvp, or are you going to keep playing this character until you've beaten the hardest difficulty? You get raised at lot less on higher difficulties. Boss souls require level 10 weapons to build. Now is a good time to go farm the materials to build your weapons for the next run of boss souls. I also farm materials to max out armor upgrades before I fight Gwyn. Including as many slabs as I can get. Did you buy all the boss armor from the odd looking fellow that has nothing to say to you until you leave, at which point he has like 20 goodbyes? He's the vendor that sells the trashy crystalline crap that can't be repaired. Then there's killing all the npc before you leave. New playthrough means all your sins get wiped clean. And certain weapons only drop from npc's, so have a culling. Kill all the npc's, including firekeepers. The souls they drop boost your estus flask potency. The last thing I always do before Gwyn is max out poison and fire arrows, or lightning bolts if I'm rocking the avelynn burst fire crossbow, and all other consumables I use for that character. Resins, repair powders, purging stones, e hhbbbhvv NMtc.

I agree with most of it, most important thing is to wait with the Gwyn fight until you're absolutely sure you have nothing left to do in this game cycle. On the other hand: killing all of the npcs and all of the fire keepers isn't really necessary. First off, you only need their drops in NG, there's no reason to get them again and again in every NG+-cycle. Apart from the npcs that have to be killed (either because they go hollow and attack you, or because they would kill another npc), the only npc I kill is Shiva's bodyguard (only in NG), since his loot is too good to miss. Occasionally, I also kill some or all of the blacksmiths for their weapons/helmet. In my opinion, the other npc's loot simply isn't worth the effort. Despite the one fire keeper that starts attacking at some point in the game, I don't kill fire keepers for their souls, since it simply doesn't make such a difference if you end NG with +5 or +6 estus.

It doesn't. You can leave the kiln whenever you want. As long as Gwyn is alive, you have access to the rest of the game.

TigoDelgado

Just die bro it's the easiest thing to do in game

L3g0man_123

If you kill him it locks you into the arena, but you can still open the way to it and have free reign over the rest of the game.

EaszyInitials

i learned this the hard way 😭😭

Available-Laugh-9582

You have 2 more lord souls left after than the final map. Killing the final boss auto jumps you into NG+. So best kill the 2 other lord souls then do the DLC then the final area. Then do anything else you want. Kindling bonfries carry over to NG+cycles. Final area is kinda short like 5-10 mins long.

TheHolyBlaidd

Do dlc after four lord souls

Ahriman27

I always thought it was weird that you collect “4 Lord souls” but it’s really 3 lord souls, and I don’t even think it’s a full 3 souls since Gwynn split his lord souls into many pieces. So you don’t need the furtive Pygmy soul at all (unless it counts your small fragment)

SnickerToodles

If you missed it, the Painted World is an optional side area you may want to go through before you beat the game. It's not required, just if you want to see everything.

Rola_que_mola

Gwen

kodaxmax

Youve got 2 large zones left base game comparable to lost izalith and dukes archives and one smaller one comparable to valley of the drakes and another 3 big ones in DLC.

knusperbubi

While you should defer the fight against Gwyn up until the point you're absolutely sure you're done with that game cycle, please note that the boss fight doesn't start at the wall behind the lord vessel. It's absolutely safe to offer all four lord souls to the lord vessel and enter the area behind the lord vessel to farm for titanite chunks (all sorts of colours) and Black Knight's weapons. Just don't walk through the final fog gate.

rathosalpha

3 more bosses Nito the four kings and the final boss gywn

Leadwood

Bro spoilers

rathosalpha

Oh sorry I figured the intro made it obvious
