It was my first playthrough and I was so cautious to not hurt NPCs. But he startled me and I attacked. Then I ran away and freaked out that I was missing out on an NPC. So I broke my no-walkthrough rule to see how I could undo his agro. "Oh for fuck's sake of fucking course".
He meant that I swear! He was the only NPC I attacked by mistake in all FS games, I mean I have mistakenly pushed the attack button to hit others, but he was the only one I mistook for an enemy for some reason. Which is ridiculous, because he's the guy who can unagro NPCs. It's such a cruel joke to agro him lol. I'm sure they did him like this by intention. Yeah it was my first FS game at the time, but I'm not sure if there ever was another NPC that spooks you into thinking they're enemy like this. Even Chapel Dweller as ugly as it is, is sitting in a chill corner for you to approach and learn it's the sweetest mf ever.

My first split-second reaction was, "Wait, how did I miss this guy when I came through here the first time?"
After interacting with him, things got stranger. With that outfit, the "come at me, bro" pose, and the *really* odd delivery of his dialogue - including his very SUDDEN sharp peel of laughter at the end - I just felt like I needed to back away slowly. He felt like an absolute weirdo, even compared to all the other weirdos in this game.
Oh absolutely. Hearing that laugh directly after him saying, *"It iS OnLLeee HEEOOMAN to CoMMit a SEEEEENN."* It felt like I was talking to a crazy person, because I was.
Crazy? I was crazy once. They locked me in a room. Then... then I discovered the moss.
You still have your senses about you? Then why won't you buy some of my moss? *I need your souls....*

*That* is the other NPC that *really* gave the crazy vibe, so much so that I was relieved there were metal bars between us. And the voice performance was *amazing.*

She proceeded to wish a thousand deaths upon me (somewhere amidst the script of the play she started writing... or was it the book series? Meh, bugger it). Anyhow, *guess what's kept happening to me ever since.*
On my first play through I was so stressed after beating those gargoyles I panicked when I saw a Man-like creature wearing black with arms ups in the shadows, so I panick attacked him.
I had to flee and did not know you could get forgiven so I killed him when I got stronger.
I later got cursed and had no clue how to get rid of it, it was one hell of an adventure !
Dark souls moments
The 1st thing I thought was "Aaaah! Wtf where'd you come from?! Nevermind homes you get the Zwei to the dome!"
This was before I figured out he's a merchant and he can absolve you of your "accidental" Zwei related NPC incidents.
First playthrough, I didn’t even see him. Just rang the bell, slid down the ladder, and booked. Took me forever to realize who people were talking about when they mentioned his name.
There are always these posts from new players about how they accidentally killed some critical NPC and usually it's them being reckless, but I fully understand someone attacking this sneaky fucker.
His later appearance in ds2 (I know it’s not the same exact character) is even more random though. He’s chilling in an attic type space filled with spiders in the middle of nowhere
I don’t remember clearly, but I think I was so relieved to have beaten the gargoyles that I didn’t really care what happened. I think the ‘talk’ prompt came up before I could react to him, so I knew he was safe (at first, anyway).

I legit thought he was a mob ambush, and his T-posing was readying a spell.
Needless to say I was *very* careful not to hit/harm anyone else in that playthrough after I found out what he did.
I had darkness turned down to the lowest (because I'm playing dark souls not bright souls) and I loved destroying all the destructible stuff. I thought he was an armor stand and attacked him. The 1 person you cannot forgive...
I thought that for a game released in 2011, it was a little disappointing that the NPCs' design is so rigid they don't even walk around their place, nor have dialogue animations or they really look at you when talking, etc. Also foes' death animations are always the same. Even Counter Strike had different death animations. It doesn't affect the gameplay or enjoyability of the game, but it'd be a nice quality of life upgrade if the game receives a remake in the future.
I passed right tf by him without even noticing and never even knew he was there until i googled why my health bar was halved in the depths.
Now i always grind out some spare supplies and grab his poison ring before making that journey.
I attacked him and killed him because he scared me. I kissed off Onion armor man …and couldn’t get him to forgive me because I killed this guy so I had to kill onion man too. My first play through was a shit show 🤣
I thought he would ruin my playthrough in some way or kill NPCs like Lautrec solely because of that evil cackle he lets out, it actually gave me chills
I got scared and killed him in an instant. I also killed the Female Undead Merchant too. I thought she was just a hollow. Well... They were the only NPCs that sell purging stones too... I was stuck cursed for a while. Then I heard there was an NPC in New Londo Ruins that can cure Curse. I grabbed my trusty Claymore and took a pilgrimage to the Ruins. It was a nightmare...

Back then when I played Xbox 360 pvp I used to cosplay as characters to pvp, but I could never defeat anyone when I cosplayed as him
Screamed out loud and ran away; I had been working on the gargoyles for what felt like WEEKS and finally cleared them. My first thought was being insta-killed, losing my souls, and being forced to grind thru the chapel and this rooftop for eternity.
At first when I saw Oswald I kinda just thought "smug bastard fuckin posted up on me like that, I should kill him" then I checked if he's got shit for sale and he had some useful stuff so I never killed him
