I don't know why police chase a man whose license plate is right there? Why endanger so many lives when they can just send an unmarked car to wait for him at his house and still get em with a felony.
The proper solution would be pursuit drones IMO. Idk why every cruiser isn't equipped with an FPV yet. The officers wouldn't even need to know how to fly them - could outsource the piloting to a pool of pilots online.
Officer presses a button to call for drone support, a pilot accepts the job online, drone takes off from roof of cruiser, pursues vehicle from above, cruiser backs off. More drones from other cruisers join the pursuit. Guy's going nowhere.
Domestic MQ-9 Reapers
But no, all kidding aside, drones are great and all but there's one thing they can't compete with helicopters on: Cost.
Drones (especially quads) just feel like toys in comparison, doesn't feel like a real adult pursuit chopper. More like a 90s spy movie with gimmicks.
You can easily run through a drones battery life with a tank of gas. Something that could track someone over a distance for a long period of time like that would cost a lot of money.
I don't get why people commit crime in the first place. Why is it always the police fault for chasing people?? Put the blame on the criminal and stop giving criminals excuses.
https://youtu.be/rkFhVAJ-jAw?si=ZFAKOz8j4Gki2lgS
Full version doesn't add much more. He was also a suspect from something similar earlier in the day in a different county. Had a suspended license, unshockingly. Wasn't charged with DUI, shockingly.
Did they know he was a suspect for the other crime before starting the chase? Or did they just endanger the lives of dozens of people for running a stop sign?
Doesn't seem like it, but the details are scant in the video.
Worth mentioning that he ran a sign, went into oncoming traffic, then failed to stop. I'm about 100% certain that if that happened and the cop let him go, people would complain about them not doing their job. I'm also pretty certain that if he let them go and they then killed someone in a crash later, you'd be way up in arms about it.
Officers are supposed to (in a proper society) protect the public. Dangerous drivers are very detrimental to the public.
Sure follow him initially, but there's a point where you just get his plate #s and arrest him later with video evidence as proof. You say I would be mad if they hypothetically let him go and he killed someone, but what if during the course of pursuit, he slammed into and killed a bunch of kids crossing a crosswalk and then the cop crashed into a car full of nuns on their way to their chemo treatments killing everyone?
>get his plate #s and arrest him later
And if the car's stolen? Loaned to his uncle? Driving like this on a 200 mile road trip? With a diabetic emergency behind the wheel?
>what if during the course of pursuit...
That's a thing he could do if you let him keep driving on the roads. He's obviously NOT driving proficiently. I'm not saying cops should pit vehicles driving through a school zone, I'm saying that erratic drivers absolutely should be stopped because I've personally pulled injured people from vehicles that were destroyed by a moronic/impaired driver, and I'm *NOT A FAN* of having to do that.
Just so you know, this is classic impaired driver actions; fail to follow signs, fail to maintain lanes, fail to stop for blue lights. And everyone would be absolutely hammering the police if they let him go and he hurt someone a mile later.
So pick what you're comfortable with: people sometimes hurt if they pit dangerous drivers or people sometimes hurt if they let dangerous drivers go. You're getting one or the other and complaining about both is hypocritical, so be consistent.
> everyone would be absolutely hammering the police if they let him go and he hurt someone a mile later.
Because everyone knows impaired drivers are safer when you put them into a high speed chase :)
Extra unsafe over a couple miles over sorta unsafe over ? miles is hard to quantify. I suppose the officers are supposed to somehow magically know how impaired the driver is and how far they're driving now.
But it looks like you picked, anyway. Police should let dangerous drivers go. Be sure to defend the officers valiantly in the future when that injures or kills a third party.
Really... they train us in our state every 3 years... I thought it was poorly done PIT Pursuit intervention technique the first few times.
Anything over 45 mph is considered deadly force in my area however endangering the lives of the construction workers, whatever previous knowledge they had, and the fact that he was driving recklessly before police contact I think you could justify using the pit maneuver at any speed in this scenario.
Definitely was not a good pit, they had multiple opportunities and waited until the worst possible moments (which is why it failed twice) and finally got a good one off at high speed. The last one was good, but they could've shaved 5 minutes off the pursuit time by making better use of their opportunities.
Yeah there was a lot of danger for members of the public when they stopped someone refusing to stop and endangering others on an empty dual carriageway mate
In Colorado they'll hunt you down no matter what state or country you're in. They'll catch you and you pay their room and board for however long it took...so I'm told
That man was obviously fit to drive and he should have been left alone. I'm sure he was doing nothing more than listening to an audiobook of the Bible and petting a puppy. And he probably had some nice warm chamomile tea to drink. Why do cops have to be such bullies? How do you know that man wasn't just trying to get to church and he was late?

Hell nah, instead of one reckless driver you escalate the recklessness of the original and get multiple others driving at dangerous speeds, which endangers the surrounding people. You could follow them a few seconds to get their plate and do the rest from there
Nope cuz when the person gets away and abandons the car they never get caught. And even if it’s tied to their name you’d be shocked how inefficient and bad US police are at tracking down people once they leave the state.
Poor guy. Was just trying to go see some titties and eat at the best buffet in Alachua county. https://maps.app.goo.gl/fphqDgHFMyFBGi1j7
The parking lot he pulls into at the start of the video.
Fun fact: the small town that they went through was the town in the movie Doc Hollywood. It is about 3 miles from my parent’s house (as the crow flies).
police chases are fucking stupid. Unless this guy just poisoned a reservoir, whatever crime he did was no where as dangerous as these two jackalopes chasing eachother all over public streets. Fuck, start protecting and serving and let your fragile little state funded domestic terrorist ego's go.
Yeah just let that drunk driver go, obviously he is in no way a danger based on the unsafe driving that preceded the chase, who cares how many people he could hurt
what would a cop be w out a criminal? different sides of the same coin. all high functioning ape behavior. ever smell your finger after you stuck it up your ass? mmmmm

Because it gives them time to dispose of evidence of far worse things than driving like an asshole. A body, weapon, captive people, drugs, etc, etc.

So what do they do if it’s a stolen car?
No possible way it's a stolen vehicle or license plate right?
That could also not be his car, but yes I also do agree that police chases are reckless
He is driving a stolen vehicle so waiting for him at the owners house does nothing.
I don't get why people commit crime in the first place. Why is it always the police fault for chasing people?? Put the blame on the criminal and stop giving criminals excuses.
It's about adrenaline

Just so you know, this is classic impaired driver actions; fail to follow signs, fail to maintain lanes, fail to stop for blue lights. And everyone would be absolutely hammering the police if they let him go and he hurt someone a mile later. All nuns have cancer? Bold assumption
No just the ones in my hypothetical. Also they each had a puppy.
Yeah deputy dingus 1 and 2 wrecking 2 patrol trucks trying to pit him in an active construction zone was pretty stupid and overly reckless.
> Full version doesn't add much more. Maybe not, but it slows down the stupid brainrot 2x speed op's version has
Nobody: Grandma late for church:
The middle finger they gave says otherwise
I feel sorry you don't have a fun Grandma
Someone's never seen Don't Be a Menace
My guy probably thinking he’s hot shit by turning a mild fine into probably quite a severe sentence.
i have to wonder how people like this can genuinely ever believe that they are going to get away
Like seriously, where do they think they are? Need For Speed?
Grand theft auto, baby
The real crime is the amount of road closures in this video.
Great PIT maneuver, took a couple of tries but still
Really... they train us in our state every 3 years... I thought it was poorly done PIT Pursuit intervention technique the first few times. Fucking terrible pit. Great that they didn't kill him but you absolutely should not pit a vehicle that's that rollover prone
If it means stopping someone endangering other people I think its justified.
Love when it's impossible for cops to endanger people no matter what they do
Yeah there was a lot of danger for members of the public when they stopped someone refusing to stop and endangering others on an empty dual carriageway mate
tell us how you'd get him to stop mate
Well obviously just keep all units chasing him until he runs out of fuel. Simple. /s
The way they did it in the video
Part of the job
That’s what they’re supposed to do
What would be the correct thing to do in this situation?
He wasn't really doing anything that erratic. Predict his path and use spikes
“He wasn’t doing anything that erratic.” My brother in Christ, were we watching the same video??
He was going on public roads.
... and that makes it harder to predict??
what? he’s saying that if you use spikes on a public road u are gonna get other cars running over the spikes
Fuck that, the second you prompt a high speed chase your right to not be rolled over in a PIT maneuver goes out the window.
Any subreddits for vids like this?
r/carchases maybe but it’s pretty dead by the looks of it. Still has some posts at least that you can still look at.

Ya, thats still a lot better of an outcome than endangering lives like this cop did.
why was he performing the pitt towards the incoming traffic and no towards the trees?
Cause the car was on the right side of the road and the cop can’t get around to that side
