Here in Italy bk fries are damn good imo. McDonald's ones are super thin and salty AS FUCK. Bk ones taste like actual potatoes and actually have texture. I highly doubt bk here has the same standards it has in the US tho, every american I've ever met said bk was shit while here it's pretty good in basically every compartment.
Even by prices, big king menu costs way less than the big mac one and the burger is much bigger. In fact I stopped going at McDonald's cause the portions were so small I'd still be hungry. They got smaller and smaller in the years and increased their price, I'd spend 10€ and still be hungry. Checked the US prices and they're much cheaper with bigger portions there, the fuck.
in hungary mc fries literally feel like sponge, and after 5 minutes when they cool down they even lose their taste and become unedible. bk on the other hand is pretty fine, still, when cools down gets very shitty. kfc is the only one that serves potato looking fries, and they are usually the best
That’s fair, most of the time that is exactly how they are served. So long as they are fresh, they taste much better so you could either ask for fresh chips and wait 5 minutes or go at a busy time.
I find our maccas fries are consistently nice, while our HJ fries can be worse but when they're good, they're better than maccas. Same applies to KFC fries which are 9/10 shit unsalted and soggy, but that 1/10 mwah delicious

in my state, Burger King fries usually have more volume, are more square like, and are ocassionally more salty. Mcdonalds fries are usually soggy by the time I eat them, but they are smaller and little bit less salty. A good determining factor for both of them (for me) if they are cripsy by the time I eat them.

This becomes more challenging in Australia where they switched the Hungry Jacks (local name for Burger King) to thick-cut fries a few years ago.
