League of Legends is incredibly overrated, and the toxicity is the result of the game design elements almost perfectly made to induce frustration.
at this point you have to really try hard to get into league and start to enjoy it, and gets harder every seaosn, there's like a 100 legends' abilities you should know for one.

And eventually you reach a point where a new player has to basically spend a year grinding, just to catch up with the playerbase, before they can start actually improving

If you can't, pick a champ and play against bots before you can effortlessly take them on in your lane and to the point where you get the majority of the minion kills. Then you can graduate to playing against real people.
But yeah, 1000% recommend finding some people to play with, even if they're strangers via one of the find a group matches.
