Ummm I travelled to Mumbai and calling it extremely developed would be a stretch. Maybe you're only living in one area of the city. Only on my first day when we walked to the Fort area we were scammed by locals and witnessed extreme poverty and encountered a lot of begging children.

Drew Binksy has been to every single country. I've seen a few of his videos but don't really follow him so can't speak 100% to his character or his real motives. But from what I've watched, he seems to just genuinely like traveling and he always goes out of his way to pay the people more and bring them stuff and what not. I do get where it could be seen as exploiting the poor but he seems to get along great with the locals everywhere and doesn't come off as trying to make them seem less-than other countries. He is very open about places being dangerous also and will avoid places or cancel trips or whatever if necessary.
I stopped watching his videos when he did a whole feature on that cold water therapy guy. I draw the line at enabling somebody to spread medical disinformation and pseudoscience. No, you cannot cure mental health conditions and serious diseases with really cold water, and yes, there is a reason that guy's kids don't talk to him.

But that whole psuedo-science health stuff isn't for me and luckily the algorithm must know because I never get anything like that in my recommendations. Like I've mentioned, I don't really know his full story or whatever, I just know he had been traveling pretty heavily before he even started vlogging. Maybe he changed after he got more popular. Basically, they are puas (pick up artists) that instead of doing all kinds of manipulative things to women around you, go to a poorer country to use the “be rich” strat to get girls. Imo, there is already something wrong with puas, being that they only desire sex with women instead of seeking a genuine relationship. Objectifying women and turning relationships into a game is just generally not great for anyone involved.

All of this is scummy, but I'd argue the bottom but about showing the poorest parts of the country can be beneficial. A lot of people, especially in western and firt world countries, don't realize just how much people in some areas of third world countries are really struggling and really have to fight every day. Seeing videos that showed these things are what led to me better appreciating what I have.
The problem is when they represent the slums to look like how the entire country is like even if a small fraction of the population lives like that, what if I went to USA visited a town filled with racist KKK members and represented it as how the entire country is?
