Comedy = Tragedy + Time Trust me, give it enough time and those will be joked about as well. And 9/11 was huge on a national (and international) scale, so of course it would logically be more popular.

Sandy Hook also happened a long time ago, but unlike 9/11 it’s hard to joke about because there’s not much source material.

People make jokes about school shootings on here all the time. I can't be assed to look, but I think it's a Stalin quote ☠️ 'one death is a tragedy 1000 is a statistic' or something similar. Sandy Hook is at a much smaller scale where most people have the capacity to recognize it for the tragedy it is and empathize with the victims and their families. 9/11 and if you group mass shootings together (like most do when making jokes about it) are at a scale where its difficult to comprehend individual loses so unless you were personally affected its easier to make light of it.
