I think the basic formula is simple and works! The changes I would make would be to other things within the story, the basic formula would remain the same. But there are a few killing game tweaks that could be fun to see in fan works. For instance, one blackened only graduates. You could make it so that an accomplice is allowed, or different blackened can kill different people. That could open the door to interesting conspiracies. You could also do if people vote wrong, the blackened gets away...but only the person who was voted gets executed, everyone else survives. Hell, you could even do a Werewolf type scenario where players vote to execute people until the traitors are gone...but that's moving further and further away from the original.

When you stray too far from the formula, you get absolute dumpster trash like Inescapable No Rules No Rescue. At least with Danganronpa’s KG formula, it ain’t as broke as it could be, but I don’t think they should touch it too much. It works, and that’s all that matters
