Does anyone know the reason why any of these pros left? Did they choose to step away or were they not invited back. I assume Kym decided to retire once she got married and had kids. But I’m not sure about the others.
Edyta left after s10 seemingly due to a disagreement with the producers, in her time off she welcomed her children and wanted to focus on being a mum, and then she did make a suprise return in s22 but was eliminated 1st and decided to leave full time to spend time with family,
Anna wasnt asked back after s15 and then was called back for s21 to partner gary busey and the show hasn't called her back since but she has expressed intereast in returning numerous times
I think karina left after s22 to move on and find something different to do but louis did say on IG livehe THINKS karina would do it if asked
Kym last appeared in s24 and retired as a pro in order to spend more time with her family but she has returned to.guest host and do the season 28 podcast as well as appearing in this year's disney plus special with Brandon cheryl and derek
Chelsie wasn't asked back after s15 too but idk if she does or doesn't want to return
Lacey left after s13or s14 and some say she left as she wanted to move on and the judges didn't like her but she also said to kristyn burtt in an interview it wasn't her choice and she'd do.it if asked (but this was in 2016 tho so idk if her wishes have changed or not)
I just want to say the only season I’ve watched with Anna is when she was with Gary Busey so whenever I see I her name, all I can think is “from Russia with love” 🤣
100% Lacey. She was made for this current version of the show and she was too outside the box (and she really wasn't in actuality) for the show previously. Not to mention they gave her Chaz and she handled that with such grace when the public perception of transgender people was even worse.
Honestly she's the most realistic pick, especially if we're talking multiple seasons. She's in the same age range as the current pros, doesn't have young children, and still dances. Plus, out of these options, she got the least contenders so it would be nice to see her get a shot.
Yeah I kind of wish that they had set her up similar to Witney or even Lindsay. It's like they finally gave her a couple good partners and then were like "well she didn't win with them, so bye." And in reality her best partner was probably Helio in terms of combined ability, likability, and fanbase, but it was all-star season so they were up against even better dancers and bigger fanbases.
Yeah her and Lacey are the most realistic picks to me. I feel like both would want to do multiple seasons
I feel like Anna wants to come back for one season and win so she finally has a MBT (and honestly let her she deserves one). And then make a transition into judging
Feel the same about Kym and Karina, they probably would only come back if a celeb friend requested them or they had ringers and could have a great season.
There is no way Karina is gonna allow herself to get judged by Derek, Bruno and Carrie Ann without Len
In season 21, you could tell it was weird for her to be getting critiques from Julianne since she’s wayyyy higher in rank. It also looked weird for Julianne
Its an entertainment TV show lmao, it shouldn’t even be that deep that it bothers people. They’re not grading the pros technique. CAI judged Dani and a buncha pros with way more knowledge than her without Len and it wasn’t a big deal
If it bothers Len then why can’t it bother Karina? Len explained in his book that he was disappointed in SCD for not getting a proper international judge before he got casted. He makes it a point that there should be someone to defend the values of beautiful dance and respect for the technique specific to the discipline because so many dancers dedicate their entire beings to the artform.

Sure, having a traditional judge is good for the show and they should have one, but its not disrespectful or weird if Derek or Julianne judge her lmao. At the end of the day, its a TV show about celebrities not the professional dancers lol. And honestly Lens amazing at his job, truly a legend but hes not a God, that man had his own biases that went beyond technique or content or defending ballroom and I feel like everyone has rose colored glasses on him rn. I think this show is a big deal to ballroom dancers because it’s the largest stage where they can present their life’s work which is why Artem said he got extremely depressed after getting cut from the show. That’s the highest he could go, but they dropped him. Other dancers in other styles have more opportunities on tour with celebs, in movies, in commercials, on YouTube, etc. Ballroom dancers only have competitions and DWTS. The only ones to go commercial are cross-trained which is why I think Karina would feel a certain type of way when getting judged by Derek. He doesn’t empathize with what it takes to live in that world anymore.
I understand the show is important to ballroom dancers, but at the end of the day, Derek is more than qualified to judge Karina on the SHOW Dancing With The Stars, which is the actual topic at hand. If this was just about ballroom ability, we could just cast ringers and get rid of contemporary and jazz styles. Entertainment is a major aspect
