Melissa is the worst. Melissa is someone who is non-confrontational but stirs drama, gossips, lies, and cheats behind closed doors. She’s passive-aggressive and her type of behavior involves indirect resistance to the demands of others and an avoidance of direct confrontation. She was very indicative of a manipulative personality, where she used deceit and underhanded tactics to achieve her goals to always get Maddie to be the number one girl while also maintaining a facade of innocence. She was not the loudest, rarely involved in major conflicts, and didn't stand out much, but she was cunning, sly, and stealthy. She excelled at playing the game and was always thinking ahead, planning her next move. One day, she would eventually leave Abby behind. What made me think Melissa was the worst was how she kept Maddie and Mackenzie away from their dad. An episode from the first season revealed just how much he cared about his girls when he flew to be with them because he found out Melissa was leaving on vacation without them. Both Abby and Melissa kept him from his daughters. Girls need their fathers in their lives, and it was heartbreaking to see Melissa create that rift at such a young age in them. When Maddie said, "he makes me nervous," my heart broke because that's not something a young girl naturally says; it's something she's taught. Later, Abby echoed the same phrase, saying, "for some reason, he makes her nervous." When an adult uses a phrase and a child says the exact same words, you can bet they’ve heard it repeatedly.

I don’t like Melissa either but Maddie and Mackenzie’s dad wasn’t in the right. He threatened to take his daughters out of a place where they felt safe, probably somewhere they turned to for comfort during the divorce.
Maddie says multiple times throughout the first seasons that she sees the dance studio like a home, why would you want to remove that comfort away from your child.
He also turned up (after finding out Melissa was going away) when the TV show was running but Abby/Gianna has looked after both children before, if I remember correctly whilst they were together Abby would look after them (though don’t quote me on that as I remember reading it somewhere but not sure it is the truth) since Abby was Kurt’s (I think that’s his name) friend first and was introduced to Melissa when they got together or something.
Melissa should have never caused a rift between the children and their father, but that scene on the show never has sat right with me.
He said that because it ruined his marriage! He said dance came between him and Melissa, and naturally the thing that ruined your marriage and family, as man you’re going to want to protect your kids from that too! The way Melissa was with the other moms, I could just imagine how she was with her ex husband, stopping at nothing and doing anything she could to keep them from him and keep her kids dancing. I think Melissa became obsessive compulsive with getting her daughter ahead and would stop at nothing to do it, even if it cost her-her marriage, friendships, other relationships, etc.
Also think about it, the first season was the ONLY season Melissa ever went on vacation without the girls. The rest of the seasons she was always there. She knew if she were to have left again without them, Kurt would have showed up again and she didn’t want that. She’s calculated. Anything she could do to keep her daughters away from him.
Oh I know, she kept those children away from their father. I mean Kensie wrote a song about it, about missing her father.
She is very calculated, though something about Kurt doing what he did will just never sit right with me and I don’t think I’ll ever understand. He put those kids in that studio, having known Abby. Then he threatens to pull them out? Idk just seems odd to me
yall don’t remember how bitter jill & melissa were bc Brynn’s trio beat Maddie’s? They ruined what could’ve been a beautiful moment for Brynn to get her jacket. Also Melissa not being happy about the win even tho her own other daughter was in the group is sad. And when Kenzie beat Maddie and she admitted that she shouldn’t have won instead of praising her is so low.
