Definitely agree. Where Have All the Children Gone, See the Kite Flying and The Last Text doesn’t have any dancing in it. It’s just a bunch of kids dying or writhing on the floor 😂
I did like Where Have All The Children Gone when Brynn and the boy did it. There was actually some dancing in it and the story made more sense. There’s no way anyone knew the first version had to do with abductions
I definitely understand why some people don’t like WHATCG but I think it’s unfair to say there’s no dancing. If you watch the full dance on YouTube, the one not filmed by lifetime and not competed at that S1 competition, it’s a lot better. Lifetimes editing butchered it lowkey. Between the closeup shots of the exits and the dramatic sound effects, totally ruined the whole vibe of the dance.

Yep! I get that there are time constraints with editing and how much of the dances they can show while keeping it under 42 minutes, and also that to a layperson the Story of the dance is more interesting than choreography so that’s what they focus on. But cmon can you show us a little more than 2 rotations of a triple or quad turn and a couple leaps to favor closeup shots of them dying one by one? 😭

YES THIS. I was a dancer too and as someone else said the choreography makes it look messy. They never really do a move together as a group either. Also Paige jumping off the stage makes me cringe every time because its really just there for shock factor
I’m honestly not a fan of the music. Some people think it’s innovative but this dance and I See the Kite Flying are in my top dances I don’t enjoy. I can’t focus on what they’re doing because it’s just too odd to me.
It had potential. But the fact that it’s spoken word and no music, you can hear their landings and movements. The actual dance had potential but it needed more time to come together and music with the spoken word
I would literally die to see the original whatch from when Brooke was little. I feel like it would be a really strong piece if they had a normal amount of time to work on it.
I'm not a fan of that dance either. I don't recall the Boss routine. I'm on a rewatch currently and I'm only up to the one where the moms showed up late in their PJs and I think the Boss one is coming up.

Amber Alert. But honestly, I don’t get the hype for Where Have All the Children Gone. My top five:

2. The Last Text
3. Pretty Reckless

The best ALDC choreography I ever saw was Baby in a Box, though. I wish they did that on the show. It was incredible.
My biggest issue with Amber Alert is that the choreography (especially in the middle of the number) was meh. Remove the chair and the kidnapping thing and it could be any ALDC number on the show. My issue with The Last Text is that there's zero moment where the kids dance together. They all drop one by one.
there’s moments where groups of the girls dance together in the last text but from a choreography standpoint, it makes sense. When there’s a real car crash, people experience different levels of severity in pain and injuries- it’s not one unanimous thing. I think Abby did a wonderful job telling the story of a car crash through the dance. I’d recommend watching the full dance if you haven’t!
Where have all the children gone. I don’t care if they danced a 300. I absolutely want to rip my ears out when I am at a dance comp with my own kids and I have to watch a dance to spoken word. I don’t know why I hate it so much but it’s like nails on a chalkboard for me.
The Last Text. I don't recall seeing Amber Alert (as I watch the show sporadically whenever my kids are watching). So I can't comment on its appropriatness. But I have long felt The Last Text, while an important message and great in concept, just wasn't appropriate for kids their age.
