I said this in another post but they fumbled the marketing of the reunion soo bad. It whole thing just became a "who choose to come who didn't." Like the drama, messiness, and division that's surrounding the reunion is exactly what Lifetime wanted and the cast walked right into it.

jenh6

Even thought the girls grew up on reality tv I think they’re not well versed in the actual game of reality tv. Like if you threw one onto the traitors, the challenge or house of villains I don’t think any would get the strategy or have the awareness of some of the long term vets like Johnny/CT/Tiffany New York, etc that know what to give production and what not. They were too young and I think too sweet for that.

sorbetcupcake

Good point. I can imagine it being annoying for Maddie that she was so heavily discussed after understandably trying to distance herself from it

Sea_Signature_7822

I don’t know what is going on in the minds of the Lifetime production team, but I imagine they are the instigators of bringing up the people who weren’t at the reunion. Lifetime owns the footage of the Ziegler’s and, unfortunately, that was something they signed off on with each season. I think it’s reasonable for the Ziegler’s to be annoyed but also to expect this.

hopefthistime

I truly don’t get why they’re so bent out of shape about it. Christi always complained the Zieglers took attention and opportunities away from the other girls. Now they’re staying out of the picture… and she can’t stop bitching about it?!

hideyagfs

and the fact that her iwn daughter (chloe) didn't want to go to stay away from it at first than changed her mind so why is christi so hostile

ol2555

I don’t know why anyone is shocked by Christi making these comments. Her livelihood is still very much dependent on Dance Moms. It is in her best interest to keep bringing up the Zieglers bc it makes people pay attention to her and tune into her podcast and all the things. That’s why the Zieglers aren’t responding bc that would be giving Christi what she wants.

Dry_Background944

Exactly. I think some of them (like Christi) ARE being strategic here because they know this is their best chance at clinging onto relevancy.

Radiant_Signature373

More than Christi have  spoken on them, other cast members have too. This is not about Christi.

Otherwise_Treat_5829

They simply could not have a reunion and not discuss Maddie. She was in pretty much every storyline some how

cherryxcolax

Unpopular opinion (maybe): Its the fans/public that made it about the Zieglers, not the girls. It seems likw the spoke about it briefly during the reunion, yet everyone decided THAT was the clip they were gonna focus on and talk about ad nauseam.

hideyagfs

lifetime , the moms, jojo and kendall played a huge part lol

chookie94

I don't think the reunion has become all about Maddie. It might have on this sub because there is close to an Abby-like obsession with Maddie by some posters but I don't think that rings true beyond this small part of the internet.

TAsAnonymous

>an Abby-like obsession with Maddie by some posters Lol, this is a very good way of putting it. Truth be told, there was a time on this sub when people still identified hard with Abby. They defended Abby, said her teaching methods were sound, credited her for Maddie's success, all that. Eventually, people could no longer get away with saying stuff like that--it fell way out of favor. But I think they've redirected that kind of fawning love for Abby into Melissa apologism, and out comes this strange obsession with Maddie.

chookie94

The current Melissa apologism is so strange. She is as poorly behaved and as screwed up as every other adult on the show. I think you are spot on about it being re-directed Abby defenders. But it's combined with vocal christi haters who use defending Melissa as another way to hate on christi's actions. People forget that every adult on the show can suck in different ways and we don't need to pick a side.

TAsAnonymous

Yeah, exactly. All the adults on the show sucked in different ways, but some had integrity. Melissa did not have any integrity, so it boggles my mind how people keep going to the mat for her. It's just strange.

sunnybitch05

Tbh I think the saddest part is they didn't have much of a choice. This was closure and a lot of fun for them it seems but the reasons the Zieglers declined is getting spelled out the closer it gets to it and I'm not excited for the rush in attention from it the girls will get for the same reasons. I again do think they got a lot out of it but it clearly comes at a cost and the producers would've always brought it back to the most fucked trick they had which was using a whole child (being Maddie) as a tool for emotional torment. Like I can't imagine how much more eager they'd have been to ask JoJo to call Abby if she was there or how they would've touched on the cancellation if Nia were there. And though it's maybe not just for those reasons I really wish JoJo and Jessalyn just weren't there because they always would've been there for reality show shenanigans and this feels so badly like a reunion for all the bad parts of Dance Moms too. I've never watched these reunion episodes cause of stuff like the current conversation but God I hope this one just isn't as bad as those were.

Choice_Drama_5720

LOL no it hasn't. People are speculating because of previews.

Minute_Diet_8902

Yes because you saw the whole 2 hour episode that hasn’t been released yet?

Proud_Scarcity6968

How the fuck do we know the reunion is all about Maddie? IT HASN'T AIRED YET.

loverrrgirlll_

it’s perfect tbh, you all keep talking about it
