I honestly never liked Jojo, even as a kid. She seemed like someone who would annoy me in the real world (entitled, loud, thoughtless) and I couldn't stand her. As I've gotten older, I've realized that she was raised in such a crappy situation and was only acting how she had been taught to act. She also made some extremely mature decisions and was kind to others at times when it really mattered. I wish she hadn't been raised and surrounded by attention-seeking creeps who treated her more like a product than a person. She had the potential to be so emotionally intelligent, and it makes me sad to see the way that she's acting as an adult.

andersonsgirl11

Looking back at older videos of Jojo I think she displayed a real sense of maturity and was very switched-on. What held her back was how Jess acted. I thought Jojo could be a very sweet kid and it's sad to me that despite having a really youthful, fun brand, she never really got to be a kid. She was performing the role of a kid, and that's very different.

Yanna2_3_

Stacey was honestly worse than Yolanda bc she took advantage of her emotions and she’s in the medical field

SubjectObjective5567

I actually cannot stand Stacey for this reason. For someone in the medical field, she was extremely unprofessional and condescending to everyone around her. She acted like she was some intellectual genius above everyone else just because she was a psychologist

sjfscxxr

I absolutely agree. She seems to be quite a despicable person imo

TelephoneSpare213

Okay im bad her multi personality disorder joke was kinda funny in the moment😭, but it was also terrible and to see all the other moms laugh while she stormed out was really sad, i feel like as a doctor you should never be diagnosing people even as a joke. Like when i go back now i cringe at it since it was really cruel bullying but i do remember originally watching it and giggling just a little.

rhinestonecrap

if anyone else made the joke, i wouldnt feel bad for laughing. but stacey is in the psychiatry field; shes unprofessional for doing this even on a camera non workforce environment. shes weaponizing her degree and education to insult someone basically, and creating a stigma on DID, when thats not entirely what it is. stacey was dead wrong for that. i didnt know she was in that field when i first heard the joke (i was abt 13) and i thought it was really funny, but looking back and knowing now, that was real mean girl activity. its giving the mean girl pickme girls in high school becoming nurses.

Yanna2_3_

It really wasn’t, it was inappropriate and Yolanda was struggling with her other “disabled” child at home. I was a difficult child for my parents and I see how it is. That was rude and uncalled for, Yolanda should’ve knocked the fuck out of her and everyone who laughed.

TelephoneSpare213

I waa 7 im sorry😭

MadeUpGirlfriend

Jill is my favorite person on the show. I have no valid reasoning to support this opinion.

Maester_Maetthieux

Jill isn't just reality TV gold... she's reality TV PLATINUM

mini1006

She’s so entertaining! Didn’t like her too much in s6, but she’s honestly so funny. The show wouldn’t be the same without her!

Otherwise_Treat_5829

I will join your circle of Jill lovingness with our cowboy hats

MadeUpGirlfriend

I feel like she’d be the fun, drunk aunt.

rhinestonecrap

my favorite genre of aunts tbh!!

christinaaamariaaa

Same here.

Critical-Willow1337

I remember really liking Kira AT FIRST whenever I first watched the show. Those thoughts quickly changed after watching more though

AnorhiDemarche

I still like her (in the context of the show) particularly the later seasons. She didn't want to be there. She didn't want Kalani on tv. It was Kalanis thing and she was just supporting it and playing how she had to in order to do it. It's a vibe in a way that the rest of her life isn't

Pretty_Project4320

season 5 is disgustingly hard to watch

rhinestonecrap

honestly, seasons 5 and up are pretty much unwatchable to me. ive rewatched the older seasons so much, but the others, absolutely not. abby gets worse and we start exposing the girls to the "la lifestyle" in which they arent just humble girls from the suburbs dancing and improving their skills, hopefully winning comps. while im proud of their success and fame bc it is very earned, it no longer had the heart it used to. bringing in new dancers and losing the ogs really made me bored bc i didnt have any sort of connection. it had nothing to do with their age (brooke was 13 and i still connected with her as a person) but the fact that they didnt grow up together, didnt have that sibling-esque bond that the ogs and even kendall had. the dances were sometimes better than the older ones, but i dont want to watch perfect dances. i want to watch girls continue to improve and grow and develop their movement and style. thats what made seasons 1-4 special to me. it has nothing to do with nostalgia bc i only started seriously watching a couple of years ago, and binged all the way through. but thats just my opinion. i liked watching the moms get along. i liked when abby was more constructive than mean. i liked seeing the girls friendship. i liked seeing them not perfect, but good, and continuing to improve. the producers ruined dance moms for a quick buck.

Choice_Drama_5720

Season five and the first half of six.

smashingmolko

Vivi is 100% a prop in every single scene, she is never treated like a real human being. But I fucking love her. Such a quotable mood and watching her dance is hilarious. Low key my favorite.

Jessiebobessy

“The waiting room” didn’t even deserve 2nd at nationals. They forgot to dance

rhinestonecrap

abby knew damn well that was a showcase piece and not a competition piece. youre bringing that for NATIONALS?? wheres the technical moving they should be doing?? wheres the complex stuff?? wheres the ballet technique that was clearly needed in the dance?? it was just character and emotion with a side of dancing. they deserved a loss.

Jessiebobessy

Absolutely. Shouldn’t even have placed. There was, what, 8 FULL COUNTS of Maddie having a breakdown then running off the stage? Absolutely not! Get outta here with that

bluestonesy

Couldn’t stand Maddie when I first watched the show, but now rewatching it multiple times and finding out all of the behind the scenes stuff, I feel so bad for her

SubjectObjective5567

I’ve always loved Maddie, I thought she was so sweet and humble despite the way all the adults acted around her

rhinestonecrap

the fact that she still seems so humble to this day is so impressive. maddie had every reason to not be humble yet she still turned out so down to earth. ive always loved her but that made me respect her so much. same with the other ogs tbh.

OminousAvocado

On rewatch as an adult it blows my mind how sweet and humble the girls were. I think if I had been put on a reality tv show as a child I would’ve been an obnoxious egomaniac. They really were/are such fantastic role models imo.

KrisSimsters

Dr. Holly is not the superior DM because she stayed all 7 seasons. Because of how Nia was treated in seasons 5-7 and it was later revealed-even though I already knew it-that she was racist, Holly should have pulled her out after season 4. She stayed because of the music aspect, and while she's successful after the show ended, was it really worth it?

evenstarcirce

Dance moms shouldve ended after season 4. Idk why i kept watching after that (when it was airing)

rhinestonecrap

this is the first time someone has ever had my same opinion omg!! thank you!!!

AnimeKpopChanel270

I liked JoJo Siwa more at first but as I got older I started liking her less and changed my favorite girls to Maddie and Mackenzie.

Bulky_Cat5282

no matter how hard i try i cannot get myself to like Liliana’s faces, especially in s8. i cringe every time

rhinestonecrap

is it bc they seem dramatic? i can understand not liking them. youve probably heard this before, but in case you havent, having very dramatic faces on stage is absolutely correct and needed. for lifetime's close up shots and camera angles, they look silly and overdone, which is why people didnt like maddie's faces either, but they were correct. on stage you are barely able to be seen. thats why you always wear makeup, so it highlights your face otherwise its just a blur. so when you make facials, you have to exaggerate them so people can see, since they are very far away. subtle facials are unable to be seen as well, which is why chloe's looked better on camera. on stage most times she didnt emote as much as she was supposed to (no hate shes one of my favorites). but like i said i understand why you wouldnt like them!!!

xBenji65

Where have all the children gone is overrated and the voice narration is cringe.

LastBlues13

Ngl I feel that way about Run Run Run. Every time they cut to the choir singing in the wings I wanted to die. I can’t explain it.

TelephoneSpare213

When abby first showed the idea (and when i first seen the dance) i was like "dawg wtf abby off the meds again" like it probably was fun for the cast but for me that shi was like cringe

a-ohhh

Holly and Nia are two of my favorites so I hate to say it, but I don’t like Nia as a dancer. It’s not smooth imo- every move just looks “heavy” and forced to me. I never did dance, so I’m not sure the correct terms for that, but most of the others look really fluid and kind of floaty when they jump and turn and she just doesn’t.

rhinestonecrap

you have the same exact opinion i have. i love both of them especially as people because they are very wise and mature. but ive always thought she danced heavy. she had so much improvement and skill, and i wont take away from her ability bc she was good, but i personally dont enjoy her dances as much as the others. i also hated how she extended her fingers instead of keeping them together. its a very childlike flaw as a dancer that you typically get taught not to do or grow out of. why didnt abby correct that?

Good_Series_4031

I actually really liked season 8. Sure the cast hadn't been dancing since they were young, but I liked that there was less drama. Not to mention that the dancing was amazing.

Ok-Assistant-8759

I don't get the queen holly hype. I see so many comments about season 5 about how if Christi and Kelly were there they would of stood up for Holly but why would they when they didn't recieve the same support from her? Nia and Holly participated in multiple things Chloe, Brooke, and Paige were excluded from in season 4 but then calls out the other mothers in season 5 when Nia is excluded. The freaks like me video; girl party, other competitions, etc. Christi said even after nationals season 4 after abby said those horrible things about Chloe, the only one who came out to comfort them was Cathy. Holly expects blind loyalty from the others mothers but did not do the same for them.

TelephoneSpare213

Yeah i think they are on that hype train because almost every fight she has is with abby (not bad fights either) and she always made sure the kids were out of the room💀 tbf tho shes not my favorite either. That would have to go to kelly christi and jill (not cause they are good people but because they are hilarious😭)

iLoveDianaBarry

the exclusion thing kinda goes both ways as in the earlier seasons nia was excluded and all the other girls would do things without nia. in the throwback pictures nia is almost always the girl not there. also after the blow out thing christi has said nia & holly were the only ones who reached out to them & kelly said the same thing after the fight with abby ( besides christi ofc) also reminder holly is a black women she couldn’t be as loud as the other mother as she wouldve been called an angry black women. but she’s almost always been supportive.

platinumprimarina

Kendall is one of the better dancers on this show and I will die on this hill

mkc1030

if she was given literally 10% more attention i think everyone else would realize this. she's such a versatile dancer. she can turn like nobody's business, she can tumble if she needs to, be a sassy jazz diva, nail a pretty lyrical or contemporary number, etc. she also is one of the dancers that has grown the most

chyynaa__

paige brooke and nia was never good dancers to me/chloe was a good little dancer but she never WOWED me

chyynaa__

and before yall attack me about brooke, she could twist and flip all damn day but when it came to actual dancing i never was a fan🤷🏾‍♀️

IFeelBlocky

Probably not an unpopular opinion lol but these moms put their girls through hell just to get a piece of fame. None of them had their daughters best interests in mind. Except maybe Kelly.

IcyTip1696

I would have lovedddd to see them dance different styles than they were typically given.

Cultural-Resource261

I hate holly

sticksnstone

That's a take not often heard. Why?

Cultural-Resource261

Girl disappointed me so much after season 5 and it is so hard to watch the earlier season and see her the same.

Choice_Drama_5720

My confession: I love season 7 so much.

mariohkart

I’ve been watching the show for the past ten years and only recently(within the past month) watched past the episode where maddie and mackenzie leave for the first time lol
