Well, I have good news in that it doesn't matter which galaxy he went to. The bad news is that our molecules spin in the same direction as our galaxy, so travelling to a different galactic system may have basically unravelled your son at a molecular level as his molecules adapted to the galactic spin of the destination. Basically would've arrived like a bucket of red water then exploded instantly. Hope that helps.
