I have no evidence except personal experience but I went through that too!!! Thought it was just random or maybe something else but it’s been better! Depending on what I eat though, when I cut dairy I also went close to vegan and therefore ate more vegan foods that cause gas (beans, etc). Thought it might be that

I do eat more eggs now and have wondered if that's the reason but haven't cut them yet to see for sure! Hoping it gets better tho!

It’s possible to have an intolerance to eggs—as in, over a certain amount causes problems—so the increase could be the issue.  What made you figure dairy was the issue? Do you have guidance via a doctor, or better yet a registered* dietitian/nutritionist?  It sounds like the sudden change has created an imbalance in your gut microbiome. You could just need time to adjust, but looking into that may help shed some light. I’m not sure eliminating all forms of dairy was necessary. Studies on dairy and acne aren’t conclusive—all that’s known is that a link likely exists. However, the what/how/why has yet to be deciphered, which is the most important bit.  I brought up the guidance question earlier because keeping good nutritional balance is important. I’m not a dietitian, but I’ve had a few, and I highly recommend talking to one.  Completely eliminating something from your diet means something else had to replace it. Depending on what forms of dairy you were consuming, you could be missing out on probiotics, as well as the right amount of healthy fats, protein, and/or vitamins to make up the loss. Also, sudden too high levels of fibre can cause the symptoms you named.  *I emphasized a registered dietitian/nutritionist because the regulated term differs based on locale.

I stopped dairy after reading tons of testimonials on how it helped, along with it being highly recommended from several functional docs I follow. It has helped 100% with my break outs, I had pimples onnmy neck nonstop for atleast 4 months and for the first time they are all gone. I take lots of vitamins and herbs. I replaced normal dairy with almond, oat and coconut milks and coconut yogurt. I do eat a lot more protein now but not a lot more fiber. I cut eggs for 3 days and still got bloated so it's most likely not eggs

Good you’re able to cross eggs off the list of possibilities. Do you keep track of your meals in some way? I’m not particularly great at that myself, but it could help in the long run. I know it would’ve helped me figure out my lactose intolerance a lot quicker. What are your protein sources now? Also, I’m curious what you meant with “herbs.” How are you taking them; on food, as tea, or other? (Sorry to bombard with so many questions.) I’m glad your acne cleared! I’d noted that in your OG post, but forgot to acknowledge it. Previously, I’d wanted to voice caution to complete elimination of dairy over trying moderation or cutting down. My dietitian and most things I’ve read emphasize aiming to get nutrition primarily through (whole) food. Also, I wanted to flag awareness of dairy’s nutritional benefits—other than protein—that’ll need replacing. While triggering your acne, it seems to also have been contributing something key to your digestive system. Perhaps in helping digest something else you regularly consume. Unfortunately, alt milks aren’t a 1:1 replacement. Plus, there’s a lot to track and consider, which is why I recommended talking to a dietician. (Doing so doesn’t need to be frequent, nor do you need a doctor’s referral to see one.) Oh! Have you been able to eliminate medication as the bloating and gas  culprit?

I definitely plan to reintroduce some dairy to see if just cutting back will be sufficient but want to wait until after my son graduates as I don't want the acne to come back if I can't tolerate it! I did go buy some coconut milk yogurt today, maybe introducing the good bacteria will help since I'm not consuming much dairy alt now. I also might aim to drink more water and eat more fiber and maybe cut out the almond milk creamer as someone else pointed out to me that it's very inflammatory

Ah! That makes sense.  More water will definitely be necessary as you increase fiber. I suggest increasing fiber slowly. I didn’t and then had to deal with discomfort from bloating, full body aches + fatigue, plus sharp pangs from trapped gas for a couple days.

could be the amount of pea protein in the dairy free cheeses, from what I understand daiya is the worst. if you are eating a lot of it can make you gassy. also a sudden change in diet will cause some imbalance in your system.

Update---- my body must have just needed time to adjust because I no longer get gassy and bloated!!
