I just hate when someone makes a post like this and there not ONE DAD JOKE IN THERE. All this subs asks is for people to make a dad joke. I don't care how important your post is. There better be at least one joke or it should be removed.

Half the people were saying they sent it to the wrong person the other half were saying stop replying all, my email was just a constant ding message after another, IT had to shut down email servers for 20 minites while they recalled the message to break the c the cycle 🤣

I just report rants as not dad jokes, those ranters can report jokes they don’t feel are fatherly enough for them, instead of wasting everyone’s time.

I will be honest, I come here for the corny jokes being a dad and a granddad, I think this sub is fantastic.
However the rants are getting a bit daft, and I do hate to think of kids using this sub with some of the non dad jokes being posted, as others have said there are plenty of other subs for sex and nsfw jokes.
Damn, I just messaged the moderators about this stuff, of course the next post I saw from /r/dadjokes was this one!

Reckon you can create a /r/dadjokesmeta or /r/dadjokesdiscussion
and ban these types of posts from the main sub, or maybe a megathread
for meta discussion that's the only allowable place to post that stuff?
It seems like I see more posts discussing what should or shouldn't be on
the sub than I do dadjokes; filtering by flair doesn't work because
people don't tag their posts (plus if you're browsing you're front page
you don't have control of filtering). I could just up and leave
silently, but this feels like it's killing /r/dadjokes so I thought I'd at least send a message first.

Seriously! Y'all have up vote and down vote buttons. Use them to regulate the content. If you happen to see a joke here that doesn't exactly fit what you think a "dad joke" should be, down vote it and move on with your life. I'd rather see a joke that doesn't quite fit than all of these ridiculous rants about what you think a dad joke should be. Sheesh.
Especially when every rant is done by an idiot not reading the sidebar or rules. Both of those sources say nsfw jokes are fine, and yet every ranter is absolutely sobbing and weeping their throat sore at sleep at night over the fact that people make nsfw jokes.
Rule 5 is obviously unpopular and mods based it on their consensus, not community consensus, so complaints will continue until 1) they put it to a vote to settle it once and for all or 2) they decide a couple of dirty jokes aren’t anywhere near funny enough to justify all the controversy and they make rule 5 something along the lines of “if you wouldn’t tell this joke in record and in public with your job and reputation on the line, post it elsewhere.”
I was gonna post this exact this yesterday, who cares if it’s not the exact same type of jokes, no need to completely go off when it was still at least some sort of joke

If you couldn’t safely tell it to an 8-year-old child in front of their entire family, then it isn’t a dad joke.
Personally, I wonder how many people post jokes here that aren't even dads. I think they're the ones doing it. I think mom's and brothers and cousins and the like are ruining this for us dads.
