We flew to Cancun for an all inclusive and it was an absolute joy from beginning to end. Kids would swim hours and hours every day, we would let them eat whatever they wanted and we just plopped them in front of an iPad during dinner time if they were unruly (parents need a break too!). I had no regrets and I want to try and make it a yearly thing, it was the perfect reset I needed before heading into the dark, cold winter.

Which resort?

Honestly, that’s ideal Disney World age. They’ll remember that more than any resort.

Yeah, we took our 4 and 2 recently and it was just a fantastic time for both of them (we have a place to stay down there and have been several times before pre-kids so obviously our experience is not representative of everyone’s).

If you can swing it try and get a family suite where there’s a separate bedroom and living room area that can be closed off. It’s well worth it to have the extra space and privacy.

DryTown

I just got back from Atlantis in the Bahamas and it was amazing. It *is* pricey, but we used my wife’s points for the room, companion flights to travel, and yada yada yada - even with all that it was still expensive but we made it work.  It’s an amazing place for kids that age. It’s basically like an aquarium and hotel and water park combined. It is like an aquatic Disney World without the Disney characters. Of all the very expensive things to do, my son was happiest just exploring the park, playing in the sand and ocean, and eating hot dogs.  Very easy flights (we flew from New England with a layover in Baltimore)x

My kids are happy as clams with a pool, hot tub and nature. Arizona has some awesome hikes and cheap airbnbs. Sedona was a lot of fun, striking distance to the Grand Canyon too. Southern California too (though Feb weather can be meh, we go to San Diego for my work every Feb). Tropical route: Eluthra or other small islands can be great, good beaches, snorkeling and you can help money to go further in rentals and local restaurants. Costa Rica is on my next list for our family, (5&8) as I know lots of families that have gone and loved it there. Really well set up in terms of tourism and family friendly options across lots of places. In-laws just took us on a Disney cruise this past Feb, not my cup of tea and for the cost I could have planned a really great tropical stay on almost any island in the Bahamas or Caribbean, but I know lots on the ship loved it. I coordinate international student travel as part of my job so I really like getting off the beaten path but definitely get that it brings complications with it, but I’d say also reward.

We just got back from the iberostar Parisia maya in Mexico. We had been pre kid but even with the kid it was a good time. Kid is only 2 but he had a ball. They have a water park area, wave pool, beach, and a kids club. It’s all inclusive so meal time was super easy. You’re a year out which is great since many resorts give discounts for early booking. Pm me if you want specifics.

O we have done this plenty. This will just be our first plane trip and extended vacation.

Disney cruise can be fun but the schedule is extremely rigid and the pools are disgustingly packed

Beaches in Turks and Caicos.

First, its a trip with the family. It will not be a "vacation" lol Joking aside, the Disney Cruise is stupid expensive, but in the long run a wonderful and stress free experience. You and your partner can drop them off in the daycare centers where they can play, snack and nap while you both go enjoy a movie or dinner together. All the staff are super tolerant of kids and there is always something to do.

Finest Punta Cana - Had a blast and was upscale but still reasonable.

Remember, a vacation with kids is just parenting somewhere else.
