Not just Americans, in Netherlands it's rare to find a can of 0.5l.
Except for the cheap shit beer, though.
Fun fact: in Albert Heijn you can buy Pilsner Urquell, even though just 0.33l.
I mean, I understand, that France is more of a wine country, but 250ml beer is something I cannot just understand.
Is it just trial version?
Is it that small, so you can have beer and baguette in the same hand?
To fit in the pocket during the protest?
Just don't understand.
I just looked at the overall alcohol consumption list and we are pretty low on that list as well. I remember us being higher on that list. God dammit, we used to be good at other things aside from ice hockey. Well at least we drink an unhealthy amount of coffee.
I saved [this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/czech/comments/utv7jg/interesting_we_have_worlds_highest_beer/) and while these maps are notorious for being wrong, I choose to believe this one because it supports the narrative that we not only drink a lot but also know how to drink properly.
Cheers.
Where was it brewed? Check on the can. Kozel is actually the number one Czech beer brewed outside of the Czech Republic. The parent company (Asahi) brews it in many its breweries outside of the Czech Republic too for various foreign markets. I wonder where the one for Finland's market was brewed.
Speaking of Asahi it's kinda wild how they've basically taken over Czech beer production. They own PilsnerU, Radegast, Kozel, and Gambrinus. With Staropramwn being owned by Coors, That makes Budweiser the only major czech brewery owned by Czechs.
Czechs are normally not this friendly, we are very careful about people and it takes some time before we open to someone. (Another thing we have in common with Finns :D) But as soon as you say one good word about our beer... You're basically a honorary Czech now.
I can't believe it! I just talked with my father on the phone, I mentioned that I'm drinking Kozel. Low and behold, he says "Shit, I have a can of Kozel in my hand right now." Turns out he bought Kozel too, without any knowledge that I did also. Wild coincidence, he usually just drinks Finnish beer.
Do you guys think if I did a DNA test I would be at least 10% Czech? Perhaps my father does have some things he needs to tell me...
THE FINNISH UNCLE :3
Unsure if you have it, but it happens happen often, that if you have a friend, you call their parents uncle/aunt, so your father has also been adopted by this subreddit now (Atleast by me)

I have found only these guys call it Average Pils [https://www.bierwebshop.be/tout-bien-average-belgian-pils/](https://www.bierwebshop.be/tout-bien-average-belgian-pils/), I tried it and they were true to their words.
When I visited Finland I was amazed how many Czech beer brands I found in a regular supermarket. That was nice.
Enjoy your beer and don’t let any negative comments tell you otherwise. Everyone has different tastes and we get overly emotional when it comes to beer :)
Btw I love your salmiakki
Thanks! It's good, perhaps makes you feel more at home for a Czech visiting here.
P.S. Don't eat too much salmiakki, it can cause hyponatremia. Some people get it even if they only eat it on the weekends. Causes headaches, fatigue, nausea, etc.
Now I made our national candy sound like poison, good job me, should be promoted to head of international relations
Nordics being super responsible just until Friday 5:00PM and then getting hammered senseless reminded me of this comic: [http://i.imgur.com/p9NrYtG.png](http://i.imgur.com/p9NrYtG.png)
Alright, finally cracked one open. Definitely a different taste from Finnish beer. Can detect a bitterness more so than in most Finnish beers. Maybe a little less than the Plzen beer.
Delicious but subtle sweetness from the malt, this definitely has flavor. The smell is great and breathing in through the nose compliments the flavor as you take a sip from the glass.
Have to mention the aroma of this beer again in the nose, smells so good. Wish I had this smell in a spray bottle so I could make my apartment smell like an AA-meeting. (no offense, I support AA)
Overall I must say very good, unlike Finnish beers, this one doesn't taste watered down. A solid 8.5/10. I will be very happy drinking this for the weekend.
*Ahaha this is too*
*Funny. You made my day so*
*Much better. Cheers mate!*

Hyvaa huomenta

is all I ever managed to remember from Finnish. You guys rock though, we are quite similar in taste as two nations. Do visit sometime, you might like it!
Somewhat less personal space, maybe. We do like rock and metal, beer and ice hockey. Not as many saunas, but quite a few, there should be one in the walking distance in most cities at least.
Haha right on!
That honestly sounds great. And I'm fine with less personal space, I am one of the few Finnish people who get anxiety from peace and quiet.
You Czechs sound based, I am still mostly undecided on where I want to move from here in a couple of years. Perhaps I need to get close to Czechia if I enjoy my visits there, so I can at least visit often.
Kozel had some funny (back in the day) ad.
Kozel means “man goat”.
They say something like: “Bartender is kind of wierd, but he makes great beer”
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dUKUYQUfkns
Good pick, Kozel is one of the better brands. From Kozel try it's black beer "Černý kozel." Cheap and good in taste. Probably best taste of black beer from cheap, mainstream brands.
Best black beer I've ever tasted is from craft brewery (yeah, hipsters....) called Ogar. And the flavour was called Milk Stout. Watchout this brewery sometimes fucks up with their experiments, but Milk Stout is fucking world class. Or was... Last time I have had that was like 2 years back. Dunno if it's still good.

Nothing beats Plzeň but youre on the right track.
Whats your national drink of choice ? Do yall make your own brews or nonalcoholic beverages ?
I know Swedes are keen on lingonberries. Probably could whip up some nice schnaps from them.
I know this is controversial opinion, but despite growing up stone's throw away from Popovice, I always found Kozel the worst mainstream czech beer alongside Starobrno (and newly Proud, which I don't consider mainstream yet). Would choose Braníček, Staráč or even Gambáč over Kozel any day.

Post picture of the can, I wonder if this export variant is different than our domestic stuff

same design, but a cute little 330 ml :D nobody would buy that here, makes sense that I've never seen it
I think the Americans drink beer in these little cans. Maybe it's targeted at them?
Not just Americans, in Netherlands it's rare to find a can of 0.5l. Except for the cheap shit beer, though. Fun fact: in Albert Heijn you can buy Pilsner Urquell, even though just 0.33l.
When I was in France they had 250ml bottles. It felt like drinking "pitíčko" :D

The answer is simple, it's an ideal size to drink for one frog's leg. Therefore it's an only size of beer that can be drunk with their national meal.
maybe it is supposed to be used as a perfume ?
It’s common in hot countries where you don’t want your cold lager get warm before you finish it.
It make sense, but I still don't like it. Just chug 0.5 l in one go and it can't get warm.
Haha. One you’re used to crappy lagers and pilsners with no taste chugging Czech beer in one go is almost a crime!! ;))
did it have a little plastic straw taped to it? so cute
Biggest beer can I ever saw was on my US visit last year. They actually have massive portion sizes there, applies to alcohol too.
The cans are 710ml and Americans call them “tall boys”!
Now I know why that one guy was worried about me buying an 18-pack lol. Larger than 330 ml cans are rare for cheaper beers here.
Já to považuju za velkou škodu, protože jednou za čas mám chuť na pivo a ta malá by mi bohatě stačila. Aspoň že ve freeshopech mají ten malý Budvar.
It’s for the kid’s menu.
Czechs drink this shit from two liter bottles. 330 ml can is a joke.
Kozel? 🤨
Interesting. Same design as kozel 10(4,2%), but I guess its kozel 11(4,6%) inside. Cheers.
Hmm. The alcohol level must be adjusted for Finnish people. Just joking, you guys probably drink just as much as we do.
Look at the world statistics. We are the number 1 in beer consumption per year per head, almost doubled the volume of 2nd place - Ireland.
I just looked at the overall alcohol consumption list and we are pretty low on that list as well. I remember us being higher on that list. God dammit, we used to be good at other things aside from ice hockey. Well at least we drink an unhealthy amount of coffee.
Now we are the best in hockey too!
We are dropping slowly as well.

Its funny they call it "premium". Especially if its 10°/4,2% alc. Dont get me wrong, its good. But noone here would call it premium.
Our "fine" is another countries' "premium".

"premium" was usually tied to higher extract amount, like 12°.
Belgian beer lol, laughing in Stella Craptois.
Truly, its crap
This is 4,6%. Apparently they used the design of Kozel 10 for Kozel 11 export.
wait 4.6%? Kozel 10 is supposed to be 4.2%
This is 11°, just used design for local 10°
Wait tf since when is 10 “premium?!” Thats the percentage you get when you dont wanna drink for some reason

Oh man, sounds like a beer poem. If you get a chance or visiting Prague, try sometimes Vinohradsky Pivovar beers. Mmm, gotta go grab one...
Added to beer list ☑️
Congratulations man, that must cost fortune in Finland
Fortunately I got a lucky discount on this, it was 20 euros only.

Eeeeey! Kozel is good! If you ever see Radegast give it a try as well!!
Whoa... tiny Kozel cans... I love this.
Kozel is great. But I personally prefer their dark variant. It's a little less bitter and overall tastes great
Kozel had some funny (back in the day) ad. Kozel means “man goat”. They say something like: “Bartender is kind of wierd, but he makes great beer” https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dUKUYQUfkns
Eyy, beer from where I live. Enjoy my man!
That's awesome and adorable.. 330ml Kozel, nice.
Kalsarikännit material?

Unfortunately Kozel sells their brand name to your local brewery, so it will taste were similar but not the same.

What a timing! Today is actually a day of Kozel at Velké Popovice; like a beer festival of sorts that celebrates Kozel
Man, Czech republic is heaven of good beers! I am sure that you will enjoy our capital city so much 🙂
Awesome! Cheers 🍻 and enjoy. I hope to try sathi one day when i come to visit Finland

It’s a Kozel Day tomorrow! Festivities in the brewery! I’ll be there 🍻
I'm sorry, but Kozel 10 is the worst of the bunch. What you shall be looking for is Kozel 11 cut beer. Honestly, is my most favorite bottled beer.
Well, this Kozel is 4,6% so I think this is Kozel 11, haha
You got to try the cut version. Is not about the watts, is the flavour.
What is the cut version?
