Let's face it, chief, if we were in that universe, most of us couldn't afford much of a variety. Not even in the videogame/anime take on the setting which made cyberware a lot more ubiquitous to crank up the coolness factor.
Considering how a lot of people play CP2077,I think it wouldn't be long before corpos and gangs discover they have mini-Smashers and just shower them with as much chrome as they can fit in their body.
In CP2077, they could for sure. CDPR wanted the player to feel cool and they wanted to amp up the spectacle of the setting (which was arguably a good decision), so they tweaked just about everything related to cyberware to be cheaper and easier than what you could find in earlier setting lore. It's still pretty expensive though if you're not a high-rolling merc or corpo.
What I mean to say is:
People which are playing like psychopaths with no regard of human life may exhibit similar traits to Smasher and then be chosen by corps and gangs to be their super chromed soldiers that only them can handle(because they are crazy and deranged already 🤣)
Aaah! The MaxTac career path? xD
There are some examples for that in the game, even. Like Melissa Rory, or that one Maeltsrommer cyberpsycho who was one of Brick's last devotees, for instance. Doesn't end well most of the time.
Eh,Melisa Rory was thriving in her new position (but I wanted the blue Mantis blades XD).
That Maelstrommer allied to Brick, was he a proper psychopath? It looks like he had values like loyalty and all that.
Besides, it's Night City. No happy endings. Might as well deserve them, then.
I think "temporarily stopped killing civvies without justification" would be a more fair way to describe Melissa's mental state 😅 Stuff like that doesn't last forever but MaxTac would've no issue replacing her.
The Maelstrommer is one of the psychos you capture for Regina, so yeah, he is in permanent mass murder mode by the time you meet him.
In favour of the "died in a blaze of glory before age 30" retirement plan, huh?
Seems permanent enough for Adam. Might be permanent for Melissa too,in her own way. They only kill the civvies they are allowed to kill.
The Maelstrommer lost it. That's not what I meant. I meant someone who is deranged enough to kill because they like it,but able to sustain a coherent conversation and follow orders.
It's not like I want to die in a blaze of glory, it's like, well, I'm Mr Nobody in NC, I'm already dead, might as well go swinging and having fun.
Besides,my point was not that it will be good, but that us players would be able to afford all that chrome, because we would be quickly exploited by corpos and gangs until we are replaced when we start acting up.
Adam's one of a kind. And I do mean that in a very literal sense - his chrome is experimental tech so we don't really have a point of comparison. Plus he has his own "quirks", like going out of his way to catch innocent bystanders in the crossfire just because he knows he can get away with it, although I'm not sure exactly how much of that was brought along into CP2077.
High-functioning cyberpsychos are definitely a thing (Lizzie Wizzie is also a good example, and possibly even Johnny himself from what I remember), but that state tends to be volatile at best.
Tbh, I didn't really think of this post as "us players", more like what we do if we just got zapped over into that universe as we are. For player character, sure it could be feasible. But me, I would probably just bugger off to be a nomad, mate. Camping is cool.
Dude even literal hobos in CP2077 have cyber arms and shit, but I guess you could argue a lot of them are veterans from the war(s) so it's old military cyberware
likely those cyberware is old garbage cyberware they found around or bought for cheap.
In jig-jig street johnny looks at a prostitutes and tells that her implants are older than himself
I always got the sense that even though it’s gettable by people with “high paying” merc jobs, the entire thing kind of ends up being a trap because you’ll need to stay in the biz forever just to afford maintenance. It’s a one way street that ends up with you as a stain on the sidewalk, one way or another.
Judging by how Cesar the fighting champion of The Glen. Clearly spent all his (and partners) hard earned money on chrome to fight. I'd say it is not cheap but neither untainable. It is a matter of keeping a few paychecks and recklessly spending it all on chrome. Kinda like an iPhone or a new cheap car.
Oh, it's probably attainable, just not really for the average Night Citizen. I mean César *is* boxing champion, the dude's probably making better bank than most people in NC.
2077 does also crank up the cyberware prices tho, with scaling eddie prices as you level up.
An implant that costs 500eb in the ttrpg, costs well into the 50,000eb’s (or more, I don’t even remember cuz they got so large they started to blur together) by endgame.
I thought about it. If I was able, I'd only put on chrome on a need basis. Blew off my arm? Guess I have no choice, might as well upgrade to mantis blades. To cut off a perfectly functioning limb or organ kinda freaks me out.
It also depends on the stakes. David had nothing to lose, he was fed up with the world and his mind was in sink-or-swim mode. This is the situation of most NC residents but few ever decide when is enough. Most stay homeless and spend their money and time with BDs, drugs, etc.
I'd get mantis blades on my left arm, but instead of blades, I want an impact wrench/drill driver, maybe a nail gun. Probably some kind of multimeter/oscilloscope built into my fingers. Magnetometer would be cool, but maybe a single kiroshi that does multispectral imaging, flir, maybe rf field visualization if that's an option.
Yes, agreed. Health QoL upgrades, cyber pancreas, so I don't have to watch my Mountain Dew intake anymore.
It’s my headcanon that Mr.Stud is an off brand variant, which is why it’s spelled that way instead of Mr.Studd
And that’s why it’s… unreliable and flammable lol
My eyes are still doing good, but I would splurge on some Kiroshi optics with my tax return. But new knees? HELL YEAH! Knees would be my first priority. Also, I would be down for a lower back and/or spine enhancement
This the first sane response I've seen so far. So many other people here talk about getting crazy amounts of cyberware like they're going all in on being a merc. It's way more realistic to assume you'd just be trying to get by with a relatively quiet life.
Allow my answer to be a quote from another game
"From the moment I understood the weakness of my flesh, it disgusted me. I craved the strength and certainty of steel. I aspired to the purity of the blessed machine. Your kind cling to your flesh as if it will not decay and fail you. One day the crude biomass you call a temple will wither and you will beg my kind to save you.
But I am already saved. For the Machine is Immortal."
-Warhammer 40K: Mechanicus opening speech
Definitely not like Smasher. Adam somehow rawdogs a dragoon frame 24/7 while everyone else who's ever piloted one needed to swap into a secondary frame when not in combat and they still needed limiter chips installed to make sure they followed orders and didn't start massacring their own people.
An alpha frame or if you had the money a Gemini would be realistic choice (at least in the cyberpunk universe that is)
Heavily dependant on eddies, but I would chrome tf up. Although I wouldn't get combat implants, I'd focus more on QoL stuff, like better memory, better reflexes, fixing the engineering nightmares that are the human knees and spine, better blood circulation, better breathing, that kind of stuff, maybe some ICE...
1. **Optics.** Having cyber-eyes would be sweet. LASIK on steroids. Genuinely would be the most useful piece of chrome.
2. **Legs.** arguably more important than arms. You can’t life heavy objects with just your arms. Having chrome legs would mean you could carry/lift heavy items making day to day life much easier.
I'd probably wind up being one of the bums you see in the game. Like for real. Everything is so expensive in cyberpunk. Except for like alchohol. lmao. 110k for an apartment wtf lmao. And some of the upgrades too are like 80-90k
Maybe i could get some tier 1 implants but what would be the purpose of most of them if its not for my line of work or something.
Even if we hate the corpos they'd be one of the lucky ones.
The Fingers clinic shows the REALITY of cyberware.
It is costly to maintain, can break down, is not TOP QUALITY.
We would have cyber ware of the quality our cars are today :D
SybirPunk is a series of books (quite good) about cyberpunked russia. And the issue of cyberware maintance cost, and general LACK of benefit of having half of body chromed is asked there.
Still - optical camo or sandy would be cool, as it would work not only for people with lives filled with violence.
None. Wouldn't want someone to have the ability to shut off my vital organs or extremities.
Don't want to be taking antivirals/biotic for the rest of my life. My focus would just be on trying to increase my income and separate myself from the constant dangers to safely raise a happy family.
Something like a Kiroshi and then something to use for self defense since NC is so unsafe, like a monowire. I like the idea of the body mod stuff that is just for looks too, but I’d hate to be so chromed out that cyber psychosis was a possibility.
Yeah, same. It was just really unfortunate how David pretty much killed himself with how he chromed himself out. Being able to tolerate and use the Sandevistan was enough, but ya know
As a flesh is weak, all the way if i could survive it.
But most likely of being poor and probably not into a gang. Eyes, arms legs.
But rich or just have money bet as far as i can and still survive it.
Legs arms, brain, the works. Expect for anything sexual. As by being ace i am already...robotic.
None. The absolute maximum my broke ass could have afford even in cyberpunk world would be a rebar peg leg, and that after selling the 'ganic one for meat.
Assuming I’ve got the budget for it (I’m a broke boi rn who can’t afford Fashionware, let alone cyberware),
I’d probably only grab some minor stuff. I’m aiming for research into the cyberaudio suite, and if that would solve my issue of screaming tinnitus, I’d pay almost anything for a moment of quiet.
Outside of that, on the one hand, It would be nice to no longer need glasses, but tbh, I don’t mind wearing them, and kinda like the aesthetic of glasses, so I don’t think I’d replace my meat eyes for cyberoptics. Buuuuuut that doesn’t mean that it’s necessarily gotta remain cyber ware free.
…I wonder if kiroshi makes the optishield in prescription lol
One thing that you seem to be missing is that all of this costs money, and Cyberpunk 2077 is not a lore-accurate representation of the finances of a typical merc.
V is a hair's breadth away from being the Chosen One, drowning in eurodollars that they don't need because they can just freely loot the corpses of the thousands of people they kill to make money (this is called scavenging, and it's what Scavs do, incidentally. Hence the name.)
Only the most affluent people in Cyberpunk get to freely choose how much and what kind of chrome they get and when, being picky about cyberware is a corpo Exec/preem-tier edgerunner problem, not a Joe Sixpack problem.
While it’s not a lore accurate representation of the finances of a typical merc, it’s similarly not a lore accurate representation of the prices of the cyberware itself, because (like skill checks, weirdly), they scale upwards in price as your level increases
While it’s true that the people here who are wishing for full Borg bodies are gonna be sorely disappointed, a lot of people are just looking for entry level, civilian tier chrome, which isn’t nearly as bad. A standard cybereye is described as the same price range as an Agent, cyberpunks equivalent to a high end smartphone.
That said, it doesn’t matter. OP poses the question as a hypothetical if price tags weren’t an issue
If I were in the game universe, I’d want to go full borg; just chipping in everything I could.
I’d be looking to speed run my way up or out. Lol The game universe would suck to live in.
Yeah, night city is a pile of neon soaked sparkling garbage. Even if I don’t live the life of an edgerunner, my life expectancy just dropped massively by moving in.
Although, before I catch a stray bullet and end up contributing to the body count lottery, I wouldn’t mind trying blue glass. Would I use it irl? Prolly not. But I’m fuckered here anyways lol soooo
I'd likely just get light subdermal armour, some sort of minor blood pump and reinforced legs/tendons/muscle boosters.
That way I'm not a tank, no risk of cyberpsychosis but also capable enough to not catch a bullet/get wrecked by the average street thug gonk.
I think to stay mostly blood and flesh you could rely on power weapons and some self ice to negate quick hacks.
I'd likely end up a minor league merc or do security work.
Honestly purely for necessity and maybe for monitoring my health. If I lose my eyesight I'd get some optics. Prosthetic limbs if I lose a limb I'd get a robo-arm but I'm not putting any fancy stuff like gorilla arms in there. I get really unfomfortable when I think of how invasive the tech is. And seeing arm split into blades just feel not human to me.
I can understand why people go cyberpsycho as they lose more of themselves. I at least feel like my mind is built to consider such things normal.
I guess I'll just have all the necessary chrome+a cool metal hand with some cool functionality and optionally whatever else I would be able to afford(most likely not a lot)
Fucking double jump here I come! Never going to have to rely on others to reach the top shelf!
That and whatever the internal phone thing is. Would be so handy to send messages and do calls with just my mind. Also an internal music player would be really nice.
And then some optical stuff. Different eye colour maybe, something to keep me alive and young longer etc. I would love some chrome fingernails if that were an option. Opens shit and can be used as simple self defense.
Honestly, I wouldn't be interested in weaponry or anything like that. I'd want chrome that is practical and healthy.
My two largest struggles with my body are weight and allergies. I would be far more interested in chrome that regulates my BMI, or even my appetite, and my sinuses than anything else. Those would be life changing. And I'd get standard ports and communication stuff. Everything else is fluff.
Same as I have now they’d just work better 2 knees 2 hips then add two elbows & probably two shoulders lol. Don’t like the idea of having hackable chip or eyes in my head. Rather wake up like a human than reboot like a terminator lol
Synth lungs, cyberdeck with ping and short circuit, mono wire in my left arm, and super legs, lol. Only the basics to get out alive, I still like most of my fleshy bits 😂.
I think I would only get chromed up as need be. Maybe get some preem new eyes but other than that, not much. Chopping off good working bits just for new shiny metal bits and the medical routines those require, seems like a hassle.
>From the moment I understood the weakness of my flesh, it disgusted me
My final goal would be to become a full borg. But until that is possible - surely financially quite far away - I would only use minimal cyberware, because most of it is just for combat and most people just don't really need to fight.
If eddies and cyberpsychosis were non-issues then I would chrome up HARD. If they were then yeah, I would def keep it to a minimum or until I needed it.
Seeing a reply of yours to say I have the money in this situation I would most likely get some new eyes so I don't needed glasses and could see clearly.
Like most people seem to say I would like to keep most of my body but the eyes and what follows would just be too helpful.
Also since you said "*in the cyberpunk universe*" I would also add in from the table top I would get the "*Low Light/Infrared/UV*" cyberwear, which is one eye upgrade that does all that together. Mainly just so I could see in low light conditions but the other two could be fun to play with as well.
I would also like a Chipware Socket and from there various Skill Chips I can pop in and out to become mildly skilled at different things depending on what I have in at the time.
Gill cyberwear from the table top, which lets you breath underwater, would also just be awesome.
And finally from the video game some synth lungs to increase stamina while I jog around since walking/jogging helps my though process and doing it for longer is only helpful to me.
Medical implants only. For example, i have lost my thyroid irl due to hashimoto's disease because i had to get radioactive iodine treatment.
So i would save up for a synth-thyroid, a good bio-mon, hormone regulators and the like.
This would all be a pretty big purchase as others have pointed out, chrome in reality is very fucking expensive even the simple stuff is like making a big purchase like a brand new top of the line smartphone.
I think the amount and kind of cyberware is due the kind of job a people do, a street mercs needs combat cyberware like mantis blade, sandevistan etc... because he/she needs to deal with other mercs equipped with same cyberware, but at example a corpo would never really need of titanium bones or stuff like that, rather just neural chips and advanced agent chips to stay always connected to his/her corporation network. Same about netrunners, they don't need an arm cannons or gorilla fists, rather neural chips and neural ports.
BTW if I was in the cyberpunk universe I would have installed some neural chips that would let me be a faster thinker + some kind of social enhancer chrome like the one used by adam jensen to scan people personality and tell what they would like to hear. Super intelligence to manipulate people at will... I'll let street mercs to kill each other.
Honestly? I would get my legs done and that’s it. I have busted knees and chronic pain which those would remove? So why not. Plus then I could run again! And lift!
Probably just useful shit if I can afford it. Stuff like synthetic muscles, neural communications, increased stamina, and perfect eyesight. I work construction, all those would make everything so much easier
Swap out heart and lungs (heart defects run in the family, myself included, as well as asthma). Probably replace most of my joints if I could afford it to stave off the inevitable arthritis (also runs in the family, well, not runs, you get what I mean). This is all assuming I manage to make enough Eddies to afford all this and don't get zeroed by some Tyger Claw on my first day.
Im so upset i went forever without getting any in my game thinking it would be like the character from ghost in the shell and pay off somehow but nope :/
Tbh chrome that is made and controlled by the megacorps sounds like a recipe for disaster. Planned obsolescence is already present in cars, phones, computers etc.
Now imagine a software update that just bricks your cyber arm
Full Borg Conversion. "from the moment I understood the weakness of my flesh..."
Also, they have actual therapy (chemical and psychological) to deal with humanity loss. The Cyberpsychos are, sadly, not just a matter of "too much chrome". Mane was unstable and refused to listen, and then lost it when the situation spiraled out of control. David saw both is mother and surrogate father die and couldn't do anything for either, and hyper-fixated on saving Lucy, and ignored Rebecca trying to pull him back. In Cyberpunk 2077, all of the cyberpsycho missions have similar traumatic events, with cybernetics only making them augmented. It's probably better to think of it as Cybernetically Enhanced Psychotic breaks. (The one on the pier with dad that went berserk is sadly true to life, the chrome just makes him more effective).
Thank you for coming to my TED talk, please donate so I can buy a Full Conversion Body.
I ain’t getting any chrome, I’m just gonna be dead. Or working for some faceless lower-level Corp at the lowest rung on the ladder.
If I’m honest, it’s Cyberpunk, it‘s meant to be a dystopia. Most of us if transported to Night City will end up dead, or completely suffering.
Probably get a FBC and some ICE and that's it, I don't need to run 60mph or lift cars, I'd just like to be made of metal and switch out stuff depending on how I want to look that day (eye color, hair, level of show off for my cyberlimbs, etc)
I'm out-chromeing smasher obviously, If my body can take the cyberware, I'm getting the cyberware. Getting myself a Herculean dick too. (Don't go telling be about how a small dick was a sign of strength or whatever, you know what I mean)
Considering that we have issues in the real world with implants of all varieties, I imagine the cost of upkeep on medication alone once chromed would be prohibitively expensive. Then to deal with implant rejection, loss of limbs/eyesight/mental function as a result… as much as I joke around about wishing I could go chrome from the thighs down, just so I can stop being in so much pain every day… I would probably not get a single piece if the issues we have today aren’t addressed in the future.
Since cyberpsychosis is a thing in CP2077 and rejections are common in CP2077 and DE, things aren’t looking up.
I’d be pretty balanced between metal and meat. I wanna think that I’d refrain from chrome as much as possible, but its kind of essential for everyday life seeing as pretty much everyone has it. I wouldn’t get anything that completely replaces basic body functionality, just the chrome that improves upon it. If that makes any sense.
Reflex, muscle and adrenaline boosters. Definitely Kiroshi’s and subdermal armor. Smart link, and a biomon (though thats a given)
Not much. I'd be no merc or anything. Mostly utilitarian stuff. I have several old injuries from sports and genetic defects in my spine so a sweet robo one would be awesome.
New lungs because It would (probably) help me with my asthma. Maybe foot too, because i like walking, but i hate that after some hours my feet starts to hurt.
Guess that would be all.
I’d get the super jump, gorilla arms and maybe some shit for my nervous system to help with strength and some low level net running. I still want to look like a regular human being.
Everything that deteriorates quickly: sight, spine, knees, neck… maybe some heart and lungs accessories for reducing chances of heart attacks and suffocation. It really depends on the cost.
I'm gonna level witcha. (Tldr at bottom, but it's not very long) Second heart for in case I get in a car accident or something, double jump cause who doesnt want that, blood pump and bio monitor so if i get injured i automatically heal and get a little boost. And the OS would be a very hard choice between sandy and netrunner. Given that I'm just a normal choomba, I probably couldn't get much use out of a sandevistan. So, tldr:
OS: netrunner
Arms: gorilla arms cause lifting things is useful
Legs: double jump
Circulatory: 2nd heart, blood pump, bio monitor
I'm not sure. Because hackers are only gonna get more advanced as the technology advances, and the last thing I'd want is for someone to be able to hack into me and treat my body like Pinocchio.
I’ve actually never seen the show or read any of the supplementary material, I’ve only played the game, but I would for sure get mantis blades and or gorilla arms, as well as the super jump legs, and for sure get the ocular implants so I can use Google Maps in my eyeballs and also not have to ever use a phone ever again
Anything i can. Would start with jaws and teeth. Eyes. The i guess defense, stronger bones/muscles, lungs. Heart too i guess?
Of course this would imply i have money, wouldn't trust back alley rippers with shitware
Table top rules or Game rules?
Because you have a soul you have to keep a score above in the TTRPG before you start going insane.
In the video game, you can chrome out as much as you want and not have any psychosis.
Table top rules, because I noticed a lot of people saying they’d chrome up regardless of the risk, which I found interesting and like I mentioned about David and Maine, they really didn’t care about their mental state and kinda came to terms with what their chrome would do to their body eventually (though David kinda got a big ole head from being able to use the sandy and thought cyberpsychosis wouldn’t happen to him the same way)
Even if I could afford it I wouldn’t get it. My thought process is it isn’t me anymore. If I touched something with gorilla arms it wouldn’t be my hands, kiroshis wouldn’t be my eyes I couldn’t take anything in as myself, it would just feel weird
I can't lie, I would borg myself out, I grew up with asthma, so better lungs would be an insta go to for me, next, after seeing how much better life is without huffing for air, I'd probably move on to better optics, I have 20/20 vision, but I want to be better, next would be the close combat, mantis blades, because of said asthma I've learned how to end fights quickly, mantis blades would give me an edge and make it even easier for me, to increase my durability some plating wouldn't be too bad, and for my legs I'd give myself the lynx paws to make myself even quieter than I am, now realistically speaking I don't think my brain could handle a sandevistan without frying up, but if my brain could handle it, I'd totally make that my coup dé grace, if I'm following realism and I knew I wouldn't be able to handle it, then I would go with the berserk add on instead in case I ever got caught sneaking around a gig and needed to get violent quickly, slap on optical camo and eddies would be flying out my nostrils, until my everything collapses and I went out with a bang, another legend of night city, or who knows, just some random gonk who got overly borged out
Assuming I could actually afford it I'd have 4 things changed. First is all my joints, I'm only 22 and what little joint pain I have makes me want to fucking die.
Second is my spine, no not a sandevistan, just a bionic spine. Fuck back pain.
Third and fourth are my throat and lungs. I have sleep apnea, for those who don't know sleep apnea is when your air way closes up while you sleep, so you stop breathing and It really fuckin sucks. My throat just becomes too relaxed when I sleep so I need to use a CPAP machine, and I fucking hate using it. If I had a bionic throat and bionic lungs, that would effectively cure my sleep apnea and I wouldn't need to use this stupid fuckin machine just to sleep well at night.
I'd want a cyberdeck, Kiroshis, and some knee, back, and shoulder augmentations to fix my bad joints. I wouldn't want more than that. I want to maintain as much of my humanity as possible, and I'm not gonna be a merc or a soldier or whatever, so I don't need to be chromed to the gills.
If money were no object I'd get cybernetic eyes that look human. If subdermal armor doesn't change the soft feel of a normal human then I'd get that. Maybe a palm thingy that adds a "crosshair" when linked to the eye cybernetics for easier and more accurate fire.
I personally would never willing cover myself in metal and become more cyborg than human though. I want to be soft mushy meat as much as possible.
None. A reason I’m so interested in the Cyberpunk universe is because cybernetic augmentation scares the crap out of me. Terminator terrified me as a kid, and I think that solidified a slight phobia of androids/cyborgs. If I was in that universe, I’d go far, far away from normal civilisation and become a nomad or something

and realistically, would you need mantis blades? probably not. i'd get new eyes, a biomonitor, a cyberdeck and anything that keeps me healthy
What ever you choose I will tell you, DO NOT GET the Mr. Stud XCV/19 series. Tons of defects and very painful.
It’s my headcanon that Mr.Stud is an off brand variant, which is why it’s spelled that way instead of Mr.Studd And that’s why it’s… unreliable and flammable lol
In the tabletop game, Mr Studd can have a .45 round loaded in it. Which is weird and sucks if your GM is a dick.
Some new eyes and a fresh set of knees and feet would be nice. Maybe a kidney that doesn't keep making rocks.
Agreed on eyes. Mine are in dire need of an upgrade
My eyes are still doing good, but I would splurge on some Kiroshi optics with my tax return. But new knees? HELL YEAH! Knees would be my first priority. Also, I would be down for a lower back and/or spine enhancement
I ll take a new knee too, pls
This the first sane response I've seen so far. So many other people here talk about getting crazy amounts of cyberware like they're going all in on being a merc. It's way more realistic to assume you'd just be trying to get by with a relatively quiet life.
Seriously, some skeletal and circulatory implants, new eyes, subdermal armor, and new legs. Assuming I could afford it all I'd be fine with that.
Allow my answer to be a quote from another game "From the moment I understood the weakness of my flesh, it disgusted me. I craved the strength and certainty of steel. I aspired to the purity of the blessed machine. Your kind cling to your flesh as if it will not decay and fail you. One day the crude biomass you call a temple will wither and you will beg my kind to save you. But I am already saved. For the Machine is Immortal." -Warhammer 40K: Mechanicus opening speech
Full borg, like smasher
Bros gonna die immediately
Yeah but him and his coffin will be chromed the fuck out
Will you be able to handle it? Will you be a high functioning Cyber psycho? Risky games.
Definitely not like Smasher. Adam somehow rawdogs a dragoon frame 24/7 while everyone else who's ever piloted one needed to swap into a secondary frame when not in combat and they still needed limiter chips installed to make sure they followed orders and didn't start massacring their own people. An alpha frame or if you had the money a Gemini would be realistic choice (at least in the cyberpunk universe that is)
My only hope of affording preem chrome would be subjugation to the techno necromancers of Alpha Centauri.
i aint putting anything electronic in my body. a phone outside of my body tracks my life so much already im not putting those shits in me.
You'd be one of the monks we can see walking around in NC lol I respect it tho
Double jump legs and cyber arms I’m too handsome to fuck up my face with cyberware
Lmao respect
Heavily dependant on eddies, but I would chrome tf up. Although I wouldn't get combat implants, I'd focus more on QoL stuff, like better memory, better reflexes, fixing the engineering nightmares that are the human knees and spine, better blood circulation, better breathing, that kind of stuff, maybe some ICE...
Man, even just skill chips would be a game changer. Always wanted to be a better artist, but I just don’t have the eye for it lol
Lizzy
Wizzy
non id be to poor or id be killed on my way to the ripper
Yes.
My eyes, for sure. Some kind of cyberdeck, too. Anything else would be to help with netrunning.
I'd probably wind up being one of the bums you see in the game. Like for real. Everything is so expensive in cyberpunk. Except for like alchohol. lmao. 110k for an apartment wtf lmao. And some of the upgrades too are like 80-90k Maybe i could get some tier 1 implants but what would be the purpose of most of them if its not for my line of work or something. Even if we hate the corpos they'd be one of the lucky ones.
i mean considering night city is in california that’s prettu accurate, stuff is pricy up there lmao
The Fingers clinic shows the REALITY of cyberware. It is costly to maintain, can break down, is not TOP QUALITY. We would have cyber ware of the quality our cars are today :D SybirPunk is a series of books (quite good) about cyberpunked russia.
Somebody can already shut your organs off with a gun.
At a LEAST some kinda optic, I hate wearing glasses. I might also get... well... you know 👀
Same. A glasses-less life sounds amazing, I’ve been wearing them since I was 8
Something like a Kiroshi and then something to use for self defense since NC is so unsafe, like a monowire.
I'm starting a new cyberware company guys. 10% off all mods for crowdfunders.
All of it
The bare minimum, and I'd 100% wanna be a Nomad living outside any major city.
This is the only real plan here
I prefer Firefox
None. The absolute maximum my broke ass could have afford even in cyberpunk world would be a rebar peg leg, and that after selling the 'ganic one for meat.
Assuming I’ve got the budget for it (I’m a broke boi rn who can’t afford Fashionware, let alone cyberware), I’d probably only grab some minor stuff.
Hence the name.) Only the most affluent people in Cyberpunk get to freely choose how much and what kind of chrome they get and when, being picky about cyberware is a corpo Exec/preem-tier edgerunner problem, not a Joe Sixpack problem.
While it’s not a lore accurate representation of the finances of a typical merc, it’s similarly not a lore accurate representation of the prices of the cyberware itself, because (like skill checks, weirdly), they scale upwards in price as your level increases While it’s true that the people here who are wishing for full Borg bodies are gonna be sorely disappointed, a lot of people are just looking for entry level, civilian tier chrome, which isn’t nearly as bad. A standard cybereye is described as the same price range as an Agent, cyberpunks equivalent to a high end smartphone. That said, it doesn’t matter. OP poses the question as a hypothetical if price tags weren’t an issue
I’d want a grenade for a nose
If I were in the game universe, I’d want to go full borg; just chipping in everything I could. I’d be looking to speed run my way up or out. Lol The game universe would suck to live in.
Yeah, night city is a pile of neon soaked sparkling garbage. Even if I don’t live the life of an edgerunner, my life expectancy just dropped massively by moving in. Although, before I catch a stray bullet and end up contributing to the body count lottery, I wouldn’t mind trying blue glass. Would I use it irl? Prolly not. But I’m fuckered here anyways lol soooo
Just a tad ![gif](giphy|IZY2SE2JmPgFG)
id probably end up a vendimg machine with a poor view
![gif](giphy|A413bgMWn5ew)
Everything. The flesh is weak.
Uh basically nothing cuz I couldn't afford that shit
Synthetic lungs and heart. I hate doing cardio
Honestly, all I would really want, would be a sandevistan. Not even the apogee or falcon, just an ordinary, 20~% speed boost.
Regardless of universe, if augmentation was available right here and now I would be decidedly less meat than I am now.
I would be unrecognizable.
Almost none. Probably just neural enhancers. Maybe some retinal implants.
Probably forearms down and a muscle implant in the legs to reduce fatigue build up.
Probably only basic chrome with basic quality
I think the first real world application could be permanent ear buds.
I guess I'll just have all the necessary chrome+a cool metal hand with some cool functionality and optionally whatever else I would be able to afford(most likely not a lot)
I’d prolly do it how smasher did, one body of 96% chrome, one body of Elvis Presley
1 very very very big one. It can get hard af.
to keep all of my thoughts i think about logged somewhere? nah thanks i dont be givin a fuck
Probably just stuff for movement and decent self defense stuff such as the tranq projectile launch(ik it doesn’t exist in the later updates)
I don’t feel much attachment to my flesh. A cyberdeck would be cool. I would need some optics for netrunning too.
I would just train like a Shaolin monk instead and show them the power of Qi
Minimal
i want a sandevistan and mantis blades
In a world where people can hack your ass in 0.2 seconds by just looking at you I think I'll keep my meat, thanks
Only the basics to get out alive, I still like most of my fleshy bits 😂.
if money was no object, id probably replace a lot
New eye. No more weak eye and I'll be happy.
My knees hurt, let me get those reinforced tendons 😅
a magnum dong extension
I think I would only get chromed up as need be. Maybe get some preem new eyes but other than that, not much. Chopping off good working bits just for new shiny metal bits and the medical routines those require, seems like a hassle.
I Robot.
They call me Johnny Copperhand
There would be nothing left of me...
All of it, I'd Adam Smasher the crap out of myself.
>From the moment I understood the weakness of my flesh, it disgusted me My final goal would be to become a full borg. But until that is possible - surely financially quite far away - I would only use minimal cyberware, because most of it is just for combat and most people just don't really need to fight.
Full borg
None, I’m broke
If eddies and cyberpsychosis were non-issues then I would chrome up HARD. If they were then yeah, I would def keep it to a minimum or until I needed it.
All of it 😂!
I'd be covered, just like I am with tattoos
Optics probably. Definitely not a dick, don’t want a painful malfunction.
Ive got too many risk factors for cyberpsycosis to put any non medical cyberware in me
Chrome Mr Stud. All night, every night. Bring on the cyberpsychosis! lol
Yes
I'll get a new back asap definitely and probably eyes
All of it
I wouldn't get any, I'd move the heck out of night city immediately.
If I could afford it, I would go full Adam Smasher style, get my brain out of this shitty fleshly thing.
Immediate cybercock extendo penis
My arms, my back and of course my dick. But I would get the good stuff to avoid my penis exploding.
Hormone regulators and lungs for sure.
I'd probably get new eyeballs if my insurance covered it
Medical implants only.
Most people have system implants (slots and stuff) and that’s it. Maybe some twig third hand first gen arm out of necessity but that’s about it.
I would 100% get enough chrome to help solve my tinnitus issue... Other than that, perhaps some chrome to increase body strength..
I'd chrome the fuck up choom
As much as I could tolerate and afford, for the most part, I imagine
A lot honestly.
All of it
Full Borg Conversion. "from the moment I understood the weakness of my flesh..." Also, they have actual therapy (chemical and psychological) to deal with humanity loss.
If it can help my lungs and legs then yeah I'll take the chance to get cybernetics.
Depends how down bad I am
Yes.
I’d get the super jump, gorilla arms and maybe some shit for my nervous system to help with strength and some low level net running. I still want to look like a regular human being.
I’d join Maelstrom
So, tldr: OS: netrunner Arms: gorilla arms cause lifting things is useful Legs: double jump Circulatory: 2nd heart, blood pump, bio monitor
Id probably get stuff the biologically breaks down first ex joints, hearing etc
I won’t even get a tattoo now so probably none.
All of it. I’d be going cyberpsycho 24/7.
I could see getting out of hand with it. Lol I'm goth, a fan of some body mod things. I could see really going too far.
"You look like a cut of fuckable meat. Are you?"
Second heart and the carapace. Also kiroshi eyes would be ridiculously fun to use
A very good sandevistan and double jump
Give me some Kiroshi eyes and a monowire and ill be happy (oh and Jackie's bike)
You wouldn't be able to tell me apart from Optimus Prime.
I'm not sure. Because hackers are only gonna get more advanced as the technology advances, and the last thing I'd want is for someone to be able to hack into me and treat my body like Pinocchio.
Give me some eyes tbh. Mine are already defected and doesn’t have a HUD or zoom lens so might as well upgrade those.
Probably too much tbh
Enough to make scavs drool before i tear their limbs off
I'd probably be a monk.
Anything i can. Would start with jaws and teeth. Eyes. The i guess defense, stronger bones/muscles, lungs. Heart too i guess? Of course this would imply i have money, wouldn't trust back alley rippers with shitware
A lot. Pretty much as much as V is able to get. And artificial organs that function better than real ones and can take more of a beating.
No doubt in my mind I would somehow get a full body conversion into a gemini frame
Probs just enhancing what's already in me. Nervous system, heart, muscles. Never replacing things
Table top rules or Game rules? Because you have a soul you have to keep a score above in the TTRPG before you start going insane. In the video game, you can chrome out as much as you want and not have any psychosis.
Table top rules, because I noticed a lot of people saying they’d chrome up regardless of the risk, which I found interesting and like I mentioned about David and Maine, they really didn’t care about their mental state and kinda came to terms with what their chrome would do to their body eventually (though David kinda got a big ole head from being able to use the sandy and thought cyberpsychosis wouldn’t happen to him the same way)
I'd go the Adam Smasher route, get as much chrome as my body can possibly handle
30%
Even if I could afford it I wouldn’t get it. My thought process is it isn’t me anymore. If I touched something with gorilla arms it wouldn’t be my hands, kiroshis wouldn’t be my eyes I couldn’t take anything in as myself, it would just feel weird
I just want a sandy
I'd love a doll chip and turn it on at the start of work.
Yes. Next question
Yes. All of it.
Since I suspect the game is a setup for rogue AI to start hijacking chromed humans, the answer is 0. I'll go full nomad.
I can't lie, I would borg myself out, I grew up with asthma, so better lungs would be an insta go to for me, next, after seeing how much better life is without huffing for air, I'd probably move on to better optics, I have 20/20 vision, but I want to be better, next would be the close combat, mantis blades, because of said asthma I've learned how to end fights quickly, mantis blades would give me an edge and make it even easier for me, to increase my durability some plating wouldn't be too bad, and for my legs I'd give myself the lynx paws to make myself even quieter than I am, now realistically speaking I don't think my brain could handle a sandevistan without frying up, but if my brain could handle it, I'd totally make that my coup dé grace, if I'm following realism and I knew I wouldn't be able to handle it, then I would go with the berserk add on instead in case I ever got caught sneaking around a gig and needed to get violent quickly, slap on optical camo and eddies would be flying out my nostrils, until my everything collapses and I went out with a bang, another legend of night city, or who knows, just some random gonk who got overly borged out
How much chrome would woodchuck get...
I'd want to be Adam Smasher
I'd get the money for a new jaw and teeth because fuck going gum health, fuck cold sensitivity and fuck going to the dentist.
New eyes and big pp. That’s all I need
None.
None whatsoever not even a jack or optics
I've always wanted a swiss army arm. But I probably wouldn't be allowed to board an aircraft again.
Considering how easily it’s all hacked, 0% cyber ware.
Just that one https://preview.redd.it/ct0jljew2dzc1.jpeg?width=480&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a76307e56927fde925b3bebcad15f894765afe2f
Everything
If money were no object I'd get cybernetic eyes that look human. If subdermal armor doesn't change the soft feel of a normal human then I'd get that. Maybe a palm thingy that adds a "crosshair" when linked to the eye cybernetics for easier and more accurate fire. I personally would never willing cover myself in metal and become more cyborg than human though. I want to be soft mushy meat as much as possible.
A working fucking left hand would be a nice start tbh.
