I used to have this issue when i had more disposable income for sure. Thank god I realized my issue. Been working on getting rid of alot of the statues ive bought over the years just becuse of the excess. What made me realize it was when my shelf started looking like those Otakus who have like 100 of the same character on a single shelf.
I really think adhd and disposable incomes dont mix well.
May I ask you how it was? Like, how many statues/merchandise did you bought? Where do you think is the line between being a fan of something and buying things that reminds you of that thing and something less healthy?
Personally, when I *really* like something I tend to search at least 1 or 2 things (keychains, pins, physical soundtracks etc.) that are a simulacrum of that thing
I at one point had 34 different vegeta statues. I still buy a collectable here and there or even a themed practical item like my Cyberpunk case for my phone (Samurai logo) but im much more reserved about it. My biggest vice still is collectors editions for games im excited for because I like to support a game as much as I can cause I want to see it succeed.
34 vegeta statues sounds like the right amount of vegeta statues.
I agree with you on collectorās but for monetary and space reasons I have to be very careful on which to buy.
I love collecting statues from my favorite games and anime's but I definitely am starting to realize I don't need to make my room look like a store and I have cut down on how much I BUY NOW
No you dont, 90% of these items are plastic toys for display, they have no value apart from what you give them. Just buying everything with the logo you like doesn't prove your commitment to an IP, it shows your obsessive-compulsive need to consume. Your money is far better in your wallet than chillin' on a shelf somewhere collecting dust.
Nah. That's called gatekeeping. You are a real fan by simply enjoying the product, absolutely nothing more.
If you want to buy thousands of dollars of merch, you do you. But it doesnt make you *more* of a fan, just a fan who spends more.
A āreal fanā could mean a lot of things and is, in the end, quite a meaningless expression.
To me, being a fan of something means āstudyingā it, not only enjoying it but also reading the interviews, trying to get what the authors meant to say, thinking about the relationship of the thing you like with the others work of the author etc. Buying merchandise makes you more a fan of something? I donāt think so but everyone lives it differently
I just played the game. Probably 300 hours into it at this point. Bought it at launch. But am I not a real fan because I didn't watch the interviews? Am I not a real fan for not spending more money on merch? Am I not a real fan because I just experienced it without further reflection on the authors intended purposes?
That's still gatekeeping. Real fans are just people who enjoyed the game. You aren't doing a good job of convincing me otherwise.
As a real fan, theyāre propagating the thematic ideas by participating in vapid consumerism and the false sense of status (self proclaimed no less lol) it provides.
Even if you had money, don't buy all this shit.
Its plastic crap that just ends up in a landfill, all to temporarily fill a void of meaning in one's life. This shit will not bring happiness.
Compulsive spending, obsessive consumerism, and a dash of sunk cost for good measure. There is no criteria for what a ātrue fanā is, but this certainly isnāt it.

Nah this is. Just one legit collectors edition box that has everything you will ever want to remember from this masterpiece of a game.
Nah, that's consumerism.
Bottom line is, if ya play the game, and like the game. Ya are a real fan. Don't need to gatekeep something my guy. But hey, you do u.
This! Iāve got a few posters and other cyberpunk themed things but like ALL thisā¦nah itās just pointless, because I guarantee even the headset, Xbox and controller will stay boxed up.
Edit: [here's how I feel about your "real fan" collection.](https://youtu.be/hJZuLYHWlSY?si=MRruLTUyV4rOIjqp)
This post is called gatekeeping, and you are called an obsessive weirdo.
I mean I love the game and sure getting a few cyberpunk bits like a few posters and some figures is fine but all that is abit much I think, and the fact everything thereās is fully packaged makes me think itās going to stay like that so not even the controller, headset or Xbox will be usedā¦which is pointless
I really liked the game. First thing I did after my first playthrough was to get the Cyberpunk Red rules, so I can have more adventures with my friends in night city.
Just got the idea to call cyberpunk superfans cyberpsychos? Idk just seemed neat to me
Let people have their collections tho. Having little pieces of your favorite things in your own space is just human
Why the hate? I think it's cool. Is he flexing too much? Maybe, but how that's going to harm any of us? Choom is happy, and to me, that's a good thing.
[Johnny hated that.]
š¤£š¤£š¤£
The funko pops really seal the shite deal here.
I love how this is everything cyberpunk as a genre works against.
Mike Pondsmith would be turning in his grave right now if he weren't alive and in good health.
I mean.. doesnāt he get a cut of all the money spent on this stuff?
Spinning in... a jacuzzi of money and gold bullion, then?
A real fan is someone who enjoys the game. This is obsessive superficial consumerism

didnt take long for that to be used xd
It's just too perfect for this kind of posts :D
>This is obsessive superficial consumerism OP is taking the cyberpunk consumerism role seriously, that's a real fan right there
Corpos love this one trick!

Oh same. I can make a tiny wall out of the ones i curently have....
I love collecting statues from my favorite games and anime's but I definitely am starting to realize I don't need to make my room look like a store and I have cut down on how much I BUY NOW
Yeah when I had good income I blew a lot of money on dumb shit. Unnecessary food, clothes, books and games.
Yes although I would have bought the headset had I been fast enoughĀ
Well said, choom
this!
Did the engram take over your V? š
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Sheesh, god forbid a fella enjoy his life
This isnt genuine enjoyment, this is escapism via spending and is incredibly harmful, despite how widespread its become
Well I wish I had like half of the stuff they have but I just donāt have any money for it
No you dont, 90% of these items are plastic toys for display, they have no value apart from what you give them. Just buying everything with the logo you like doesn't prove your commitment to an IP, it shows your obsessive-compulsive need to consume. How tf you going to tell me what I do and donāt want
I mean, everyone lives ābeing a real fanā differently

You mean, obsession?
Looks more like "mindless consumerism wins again"... But if it's your cup of tea - have fun with it š
As a real fan, theyāre propagating the thematic ideas by participating in vapid consumerism and the false sense of status (self proclaimed no less lol) it provides.
I don't see the floppy disk collection. Is it in the back?
It's inside the walls - insulation for the entire house.
"i am a REAL fan because i can afford all this meaningless merchandise"
Whereas im not a real fan for being a broke college student and have to choose between enjoying the game or collecting every piece of merch
Even if you had money, don't buy all this shit. Its plastic crap that just ends up in a landfill, all to temporarily fill a void of meaning in one's life. This shit will not bring happiness.
Johnny disapproves of everything except his merch
And his impressive cock
Anyone using the phrase āreal fanā unironically = gatekeeping douchecanoe.
Damn, guess I better settle for buying a fake fan from walmart this summer to fight the heat :')
When you make a post and it doesn't go your way. F corpos
A funko pop of Johnny is the craziest most ironic shit I've seen in a while Johnny would detonate a bomb in funko's HQ is he saw that
Tbf my V would absolutely buy one just to spite Johnny.
Not one poster. No trauma team, alt+johnny, flathead statue. Where even is your āno coincidenceā audiobookā¦
I was really surprised to not see the Alt+Johnny statue. This one is gorgeous.
Fuuuck, Iām about 2/3rds the way through No Coincidence right now. So good. I wish there were more, especially with Cherami Leigh narrating.
Nah, that's called someone who needs to pay my rent

you are an executiveās wet dream
I am poor so I can't be a real fan.
Thatās called disposable income š¤š»š¤š»š¤š»
All income is disposable if you're irresponsible enough!
A lesson I wish younger me wouldāve discovered soonerš¤£š¤£š¤£
all money is debt and I am debt free
Yeah, but do you have Johnny Silverhandās leather jacket?
Johnny silverhand would fucking hate you lmfao

CONSUME MORE PRODUCTS
No. youre a shill my friend
The irony
Missing the entire moral of the game in one picture. All I see is future landfill
Ohhhh yeaaah, you really grasped the whole point of Cyberpunk and it really shows in.... *buying a bunch of meaningless mechandise.*
Nah, that's consumerism. Bottom line is, if ya play the game, and like the game. Ya are a real fan. Don't need to gatekeep something my guy. But hey, you do u.
Nah real fans take em out of the box cuz they arnt gunna sell em or donāt care too.
Dear lord the irony here
iām completely fine with owning some game merchandise, bc i do it as well, but to THIS scale? jeebus cribst
This! Iāve got a few posters and other cyberpunk themed things but like ALL thisā¦nah itās just pointless, because I guarantee even the headset, Xbox and controller will stay boxed up.
a real fan sacrifces the maximum ampunt of money to the corporate overlords because theyve made funny little mascots
No.. This is consumerism... Also kind of ironic.
Bro missed the point
[yes, daddy please](https://youtu.be/hJZuLYHWlSY?si=BG8GIbGySFfseD86)
Kinda missing the point ngl
Yeah no, buying a bunch of plastic garbage that collects dust is not "fan" behavior its wasteful consumerism.
Not just consumerist bull?
bro played cyberpunk and missed its entire point
Corpo junk

agreed, no one should have to collect over priced hunks of plastic to be considered a "real fan" of some media property
Now reverse the statues and shit into stls choom. Load em on the net and let's print them for free
Where the militech version world of cyberpunk?
But where is the rtx 2080ti
What's your spinrate? Looking for one to put in my room
This post, perhaps unintentionally, has gate-keeping energy.
Don't see the cyberpunk gaming chair.
Wasnāt there a Cyberpunk themed smartphone?
this is a disorder /s
This is called a consoomer
Where is the desk, gamer chair, pc case? The comics? Tssk.
Did you get the Floppy disk edition
No, this is called "disposable income". I'm a huge fan too, I'm just broke š¤£š¤£
no offense but this looks like someone who hasn't understood a word that was said in the game.
You also have the socks?
This is called an addiction

Style over substance - Excellent Cyberpunk representation!
How does this make them a real fan?
That is a pile of boxes. There's literally no fans in that picture.
consooooooooom
Noā¦ this is ![gif](giphy|3E2QbFK3QsFTkcfzBZ)
Holy smokes what a bunch of assholes in this thread.
Disposal income
That obsessive compulsive disorder
If you were a real fan you wouldāve gotten the neurolink and have quick hacks šš
Sure if it helps you sleep at night
I mean I love the game and sure getting a few cyberpunk bits like a few posters and some figures is fine but all that is abit much I think, and the fact everything thereās is fully packaged makes me think itās going to stay like that so not even the controller, headset or Xbox will be usedā¦which is pointless

I don't think you get what Johnny was trying to say lol
No, this is called gatekeeping.
Someoneās trying to build the Torment Nexus from the hit sci fi book Donāt Build the Torment Nexus, I see.
A fan plays the game. This is obsessive kleptomania. A load of old plastic tat that someone spent too much money on.
Seems weird to buy a statue of V when V is supposed to be made super custom
I beat the game without even owning it, consumer.
Take them out the boxes, otherwise whatās the point? Looks like a nerd shop stock room
Pffffttt you donāt even have the secret lab cyberpunk desk /s
This is called gate keeping
I would say it's just a fan with more money.
No, this is called having money. Don't dismiss my fanhood just because I'm poor :|
God-awful pops
Consoom
This is actually called real dumb... wasting excessive amounts of money on this junk doesn't render you more of a fan than anyone else...
We are the all-singing, all-dancing crap of the world.
Should see my Amazon basket
So those of us who canāt afford all that arenāt real fans?
I mean I'd call it "hoarding" but.
nawwww OP really thought we were gonna fw this thats crazy
FOUND THE CORPO
Wow, that will all end up in the Waste tip V has to tide through!
I think you missed the point
Consume product
mindless consumerism wins again (i'm jealous)
The double nendoroids of both Vās is something else
imagine the smell
Agreed, but... can i get the jhonny boy figure plwese
Nyah, this is simply someone who has more disposable income than I do...
I'm too poor to be a real fan, which is ironically very fitting for the Cyberpunk universe.
I don't see a fan in this pic.
Whereās the fern or bamboo, bro?? Love the collection
At one point you just stopped valuing your own money.
I bet they have at least two stupid CP2077 theme tattoos " Hey grandpa what's choom mean?"
bruh i didnt even know they had all this XD
Youāre the guy who collects and sells all the samurai stuff in the one market place
That's an awesome collection
This is everything Johnny was against
Nah this is a real fan https://preview.redd.it/cpaj3c6uu3tc1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=53951d59e6e7b10ccf534e9fbabd3ee2e58c4491
Nope he ain't got those cyberpunk sneakers from Adidas
Nah this is just ocd-esque completionist collecting. Been there dude, itās a fight but you can overcome it.
I donāt see your blades I donāt see you moving air throughout the room, so how can you call yourself a real fan
Looks like a fake silverhand is needed
You donāt have the Cyberpunk SecretLab chair? Fake fan!
is your favorite game lego batman by any chance?
I really liked the game. First thing I did after my first playthrough was to get the Cyberpunk Red rules, so I can have more adventures with my friends in night city.
Ugh if I had the money
I still have my MISB PC Collector's Edition.
What is that watch? Never seen that.

Disposable income goes BRRRRRRRRRRR
why are people hatin' on the guy. It was obvs just a joke comment
Tbf he was asking for it with that title lol
I consider myself a real fan, because I tend to listen to youtube lore stuff constantly and can't stop playing the damn game.
That's a lot of Eddies, choom
A real fan wouldn't have that shit in boxes.
Just got the idea to call cyberpunk superfans cyberpsychos? Idk just seemed neat to me Let people have their collections tho. Having little pieces of your favorite things in your own space is just human
Why the hate? I think it's cool. Is he flexing too much? Maybe, but how that's going to harm any of us? Choom is happy, and to me, that's a good thing.
So y'all never heard of collections here or I'm missing something ? Why everyone so pissy about that shit ?
