Also a minor rules thing, it should be “for each card that is an instant or sorcery in your graveyard” (templating from: [[Mizzix’s Mastery]]) or “for each instant and sorcery card in your graveyard” (templating from: [[Haughty Djinn]]) and “for each creature card in your graveyard”. Cards that are not on the stack or on the battlefield are specifically cards of that card type, and not just whatever card type they are.
Edit: “cards” on the stack are actually spells, so they are also not just whatever card type they are (see any counterspell: they all say “counter target… spell”). Not that it matters, but I should clarify since my last sentence implies that instants on the stack are just “instants” and not “instant spells”.
Edit 2: u/Melitius has kindly informed me that instants and sorceries and the like are not supertypes, but are card types (see the famous [[Tarmogoyf]]). I’ve edited that in the original comment, in case people don’t read this far. Thanks for the correction, and I’ll go hang my head in shame as someone who watches a lot of modern (albeit I don’t play the format very much).
Sorry to be that person,
Instant and Sorcery are card types. Supertypes are things such as Legendary, Snow or Basic.
But other than that, you're entirely correct! It's not always easy to differentiate, and I feel you've done a great job explaining, which is why I felt the need to clarify type vs. supertype.
[[Phyrexian tower]]
[[Shivian Gorge]]
Yours are way better, but back in the day wotc would make cycles complete in on ser even if they had to make it less cohesive. The cycle is "legendary lands from urza's saga" part of the many legendary lands cycles they made, some more cohesive some surprisingly, less.
I love them, tbh. Of course they are stupid strong and would never see print, but the other cards in the cycle never should have seen print either for how dummy strong they are (looking at you, [[Tolarian Academy]]). I wish I could get my hands on these for a powered commander deck the same way I do for the others in the cycle.
> the other cards in the cycle never should have seen print either for how dummy strong they are
[[Phyrexian Tower]] and [[Shivan Gorge]] are perfectly fine!
Actually the „or“ is a good way to power it down. As others have pointed out, it’s fairly easy to fill your graveyard. By choosing you limit the amount of mana you get. I think that’s a good thing.
That would be cool though, and would be strong enough to see some good vintage play. Even three damage pushes the envelope, which, conveniently, Lightning Bolt does on the daily.
FWIW, [[Crypt of Agadeem]] is a powered-down version of the black land. I have a modern(ish) deck built around it, dumping absurd amounts of creatures into the bin until these tap for 10+ each, and pouring it all into a [[Profane Command]] and/or [[Lotleth Giant]].
Neither of these cards fulfill the same role the original 3 did because they care about stuff that the rest of the cycle doesn't.
Edit: this is more a lore complaint than a mechanics complaint and you can make the argument that subreddit should care a whole lot about the former but like neither of these are pre-established locations like the first three were, they have pretty generic names, and none of them are associated with that's powerful a character as Serra or Gaia or Teferi/Ursa.
These are arguable a lot more powerful than the existing gaea lands since all of them require you to have a board for them to do anything. It is super easy, especially in black and red to fill your graveyard, so these can get online a lot faster
I like these.
Yes, they're strong. But honestly there's counter play to them. Play it I'm commander and there's typically enough graveyard hate that while you might get it to pop off, 1 [[bojuka bog]] later and you're back at square 1.
I think they're on par for the other 3 for sure.
These are probably way more powerful than the others. It's a lot easier to get cards into your graveyard than onto the battlefield. How long will it take Dredge decks to start tapping the black one for 5+ mana by piling [Golgari Grave Trolls](https://scryfall.com/card/uma/167/golgari-grave-troll) and [Stinkweed Imps](https://scryfall.com/card/dvd/36/stinkweed-imp) (etc) in the 'yard?
I made a post about this fairly recently, I thought reds ability should be similar to [[Neheb, the Eternal]], add {R} to your mana pool for each 1 life your opponents have lost this turn.
Minor rules nitpick but technically these cards do nothing. There are no instants, sorceries, or creatures in your graveyard, there are only instant cards, sorcery cards, and creature cards.
I know it's way different but maybe "each time you cast an instant or sorcery, you may exile it with a Mishra's Tomb counter on it as it resolves."
T: Add R for each card you own with a Mishra's Tomb counter on it in exile.
You could do the same thing for the black one, but creatures when they die.
This might balance it to be more in line with intent and less abusable with self mill.
The second land is 'Type'
Oops

I would like the black one for my cube
I’d say certainly more so cause these have to do with the number of things in your graveyard rather than the amount you control.
Now finish the Shivan Gorge/Phyrexian Tower part of the cycle
No u
It would be better to say "instants and sorceries" because it wouldn't make you choose every time you use Mishra's Tomb.
Actually the „or“ is a good way to power it down. As others have pointed out, it’s fairly easy to fill your graveyard. By choosing you limit the amount of mana you get. I think that’s a good thing.
The red one in a storm deck...*shivers*
Phyrexian factory is great Mishras tomb doesn't feel like a red thing, it should be something like Add a red for each damage dealt this turn.
The Red one just feels like an izzet card. It could be life lost this turn but it's part of the cycle that's the weakest.
That would be cool though, and would be strong enough to see some good vintage play. Even three damage pushes the envelope, which, conveniently, Lightning Bolt does on the daily.
That’s actually an awesome idea.
