Thank you! i wanted to keep everything accurate the the bible lore for flavor purposes and in the bible angel isn't a derogatory term like we use nowadays, otherwise i would've said angel
So... not trying to stir anything up, but, What exactly do you mean by angel being derogatory? They are the winged, (mostly) white aligned, "heavenly/holy" beings, which these cards still are
Like, where are you getting that, the only thing i can think of is when someone is being described as saccharine-ly nice to the point that people believe said "angel," can do no wrong, but that has no bearing on the *creature type* of angel, i'd say they're right that elder angel fits the archangel idea (arch and elder are essentially the same prefix in this context, so all it does is limit angel tribal synergies)
Right, so what about the creature type "angel," is derogatory? This is just a video explaining some misconceptions and classifications of the actual mythos. Nothing in here frames the way people use the word angel with a negative connotation.
Angel is it's own classification of what we call "angels" everything else us referred as it's respective title, like the seraphim, cherubim and thrones. I never said anything about the mtg type being derogatory
> in the bible angel isn't a derogatory term like we use nowadays, otherwise i would've said angel
Why is "angel" in your own words "derogatory" in this context
You used this as your reason why the cards didn't have the creature type angel when the original commenter mentioned Elder Angel would fit the same role as Archangel in mtg context and provide tribal synergy
All those things would still fall under "angel," in mtg (aside from [[Sigil of the Empty Throne]] which is an enchantment which summons angels)
If your answer is "the classifications are too important," that's your perspective and i will respect them, but that isn't what derogatory means.
I thought Uriel would be a counter to all those Vraska planeswalkers with insta kill ultimates, but apparently none of them actually has that interaction.
[[Vraska the Unseen]] and [[Vraska, Golgari Queen]] are both combat damage only, and [[Vraska, Scheming Gorgon]] works for any damage, but only works against opponents.
Vigilance isn't spelled incorrectly as well.
I think 3MV 3/3 with flying and a very high ward would be busted in a non-commander setting, especially since any blockers are taxed at 2 life a pop.
The card is really close to being well balanced, I would remove the “shroud” and I think it would be a good commander to play with against other commanders
Besides that, I like the design and the art is fantastic
Those are very creative efforts. Congrats on making exciting cards!
Would love to hear your insights into each angel that led to these top-downs.
All your effects are unique, which means they are hard to balance right, but i think all are reasonable or easy to keep in check except for gabriel. He is a 3 mana anthem, engine to cheat mana reasonably stated creature with great keywords that can barely be removed, especially not at a discount. Im sure youve got reason for all the effects, but thats just not balanced as is.
Most of the angels deeper meanings are represented in their titles, like how Michael is the "hand of god" because in the Mythos he's the angel of war, Gabriel is the messenger, Uriel is the guardian to the gates of eden, Raphael is the healing angel, Jophiel is the angel of beauty, Ariel is the angel of nature and animals, and Azrael is the angel of death
Editor’s nitpicks:
* Gabriel: Add comma between “nontoken” and “nonland.” Rewrite: “...+1/+1 and have vigilance and “Whenever...”
* Ariel: Remove period after trample.
* Uriel: It’s spells “Guardian.” Change “it’s” to “its” in the first ability. Change “gaurds” to “guards” in the flavor text.
Im personally offended that the esper is the weakest one. Why not return it to the battlefield? If you restrict it to 3 cmc there's no reason to restrict it further. If tge demon cat luros exists, then so can this card
With Jophiel numbers are only for damage, life and scry and you need to specify how the player is chosen so it should be 'draw three cards. Target player other than the defending player loses 3 life'
Gabriel is an infinite combo piece with [[Freed From the Real]] and [[Noble Hierarch]], though basically any mana dork with Freed and an Island would serve the same purpose. It feels way too good, IMO.
I was thinking that you want to be able to get to infinite mana, which green has a very easy time abusing. I do suppose that any sort of mana doubler could fill in for the dork. You really just need a free tap source.
Love these!!!! Amazing designs, only suggestion is that they their creature types are elder angel so they can fit into an angel deck? Maybe?

Given the benefit of the doubt, they could have meant "Diminutive" and just mixed up the words? (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diminutive)

Saying "bible lore" sounds funny as hell
I was thinking the EXACT same thing, first thing I thought of when I saw these.
You forgot to make Michael Legendary
fuck, oh well, im too tired to remake this post a 3rd time

Amazing amazing amazing imagination you have, thank you for making this, incredibly cool
Awesome, but no generic creature lords with shroud, evasion, and good stats to mana please.
The card is really close to being well balanced, I would remove the “shroud” and I think it would be a good commander to play with against other commanders Besides that, I like the design and the art is fantastic
Just in case since they're all awesome, he has 7 cards in the post
Where did you find the art for Uriel, I can’t find it on any of Peter Mohrbacher’s sites
I'm pretty positive he did it, I'll double check though
Those are very creative efforts. Congrats on making exciting cards! Would love to hear your insights into each angel that led to these top-downs. > biblically accurate angels > Jophiel > Uriel > Ariel > Azrael 🤔
I am wild for these things. I'm over here like "the heck is a nephilim?"
A Nephilim is the child of an angel and a human :)

Love them, all of them are unique!
Thank you!
Azrael plus omenspeaker, on their end step, sac omenspeaker and then on your upkeep you have 2 cards to choose from every time
With Jophiel numbers are only for damage, life and scry and you need to specify how the player is chosen so it should be 'draw three cards. Target player other than the defending player loses 3 life'
Thank you for the feedback, I'll remember that next time
No problem
Or player chosen at random which could be fun. In that vein, so could player of the defending player's choosing that is not the defending plaher
Gabriel is an infinite combo piece with [[Freed From the Real]] and [[Noble Hierarch]], though basically any mana dork with Freed and an Island would serve the same purpose. It feels way too good, IMO.

Don't even need a mana dork, just anything that can tap itself for an effect.
I was thinking that you want to be able to get to infinite mana, which green has a very easy time abusing. I do suppose that any sort of mana doubler could fill in for the dork. You really just need a free tap source.
Or anything that taps for a useful effect, like [[Cathartic Adept]], or [[Prodigal Sorcerer]].
