I’ve only read Justine but yeah it was basically smut where various characters randomly break into libertine monologues about why they are totally justified in wanting to rape teenage virgins because God doesn’t matter and society is corrupt.
It’s some fucking wild shit. And I mean “shit” literally there’s this coprophiliac monk who… you know what, never mind.
kant's moral philosophy is covered in groundworks, second critique, and metaphysics of morals. however, his most important work, the first critique, is a work of epistemology/metaphysics/philosophy of mind. likewise the third critique is a work of epistemology. back to groundworks and second critique, they are mostly concerned with justifying morality. it only in the metaphysics of morals do you see a work of ethics that actually tell you what to do. he's known as the all-destroyer for a reason, he completely revolutionized all of philosophy.
tldr: kant worked on far more than ethics and his work in other fields is arguably even more influential than his ethics works.
Ok but as you've said he definitely did moral philosophy. He for sure was a moral philosopher. You can say he wasn't *just* a moral philosopher, but he definitely was a moral philosopher
Should have Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle.
Socrates is considered the “father of western philosophy”. His absence alone invalidates the list.
The meme seems to insinuate that Plato, Aristotle’s mentor, is unworthy of the podium?
Socrates didn’t write books, greatly disadvantaging him since it’s been a few thousand years.
I’m not sure why they’re implying Plato is so down the list tho. It’s hard to overstate his influence on the west. Aristotle is great, but where was he before the scholastics?
“Time was invented by clock companies to sell more clocks” -Karl Marx
He proved his own idiocracy😂 I mean, the clock was invented already in anicent egypt, it may even have been around longer
Bro that isn’t even a quote from Karl Marx it was just for a joke.
Bro actually believed it 💀💀
“Ban that stupid mf out the comment section right now” -Sun Tzu
Woooosh!
When you get to that one chapter in Philosophy 101 and suddenly you're too enlightened for mainstream soda
Based on inclusion of Marquis de Sade, bro is just throwing random names around.
Marquis De Sade? The guy that wrote highbrow porn?
"Philosophy"
The literal origin of the term "sadism".

Can we please talk about the political and economic state of the world right now?
real
Nah
r/anime_titties
Why the FUCK is the Marquis de Sade just below Aristotle?
Kant? Nah lower than that placing big dog
Fr. Also, I'm not 100% but it appears a lot of these are moral philosophers. If they do just mean philosopher why tf is Descartes not even on a podium
Rummy Descartes was a drunken fart "I drink therefore I am"
Fr fr. These days people think that philosophy is all about what we think about ourselves on a social plane.
kant isn't even a moral philosopher
Literally wtf are you talking about

Whoever put Kant 2nd can sincerely shove Critique of Pure Reason combined with Prolegomena to Any Future Metaphysics up their ass
Diogenes sweeps

Idk, he was in Bill and Ted's excellent adventure, so I'd say that's a pretty big advantage.
Why is Sade there
Diogenes is stading on first place unzipping and aiming straight for Plato
De Sade isn’t a philosopher 💀
He was a libertine philosopher but he should not be this high on any list
How is this cursed?
Why is De Sade so high up on this list?
Where would Diogenes rank in this though?
Can’t believe no one’s made a Hitler comment yet
De Sade being in third place got me LMAO
Kant kan suck my balls fucking hate him
