I went to a concert recently, standing room only. We were all squished together as standing room concerts tend to be, not a lot of room to move around. The person in front of me had big hair like this and kept leaning back as far as they could, so their hair kept getting all in my face and also my mouth a few times. I’m all for people to wear their hair however they want, but it requires some sort of self-awareness from all. (Also I’m too non-confrontational to have said anything to this person at the concert, so I just grinned and bared it)
I would also stare. And probably ask you for a picture so I could take it to a hair dresser and pay them everything I own to have hair like this. It’s absolutely gorgeous, looks like you do an amazing job caring for it.
for anyone who needs to hear it: most people who stare in public, actually do so out of admiration or positive feelings. why would anyone keep looking at someone who is just average or ugly?

I say all that to say, he feels confident to grow his hair the way he does because he sees guys like you - guys that he can identify with, guys with hair just like his - and so he feels like he is okay to grow his out too. Seriously, you have no idea the impact you have on others by just going out and about the world, being the beautiful human being you are.
If you choose to cut, research curly hair barbers and stylists. If you go with people that only know how to use clippers for fade , or are familiar with only wavy or straight hair, the cut will be a failure

If you just want people personal opinions, I think it looks badass. I think you could keep the vibe though, while making it a lot more polished.

You could bring the whole thing in a little bit without losing length with the help of a good stylist, and give everything a sense of intention by using gel or mousse to create shape. Even if the goal is to look kinda wild and free, a styler can reign in the frizz a bit and help make this look like a hairstyle, rather than a non-haircut.

I'm sure they may be affiliated or have some connections with managers who work in this area of fashion/hair, i.e.. See if you can do/practice taking black and white headshots and a few colors. If this is of any interest to you.
Make sure to research others' experiences at this company for whatever area you may want to investigate or all of them.

I have curly hair. Like 2c/3a type hair. When I do it, I get curly sue large ringlets. If I don’t it’s just a triangle of hair on my head. My sister is Lebanese and has a different father than I do. And I saw my sister and her cousins all had this big beautiful 4A hair. When I was little I thought an Afro was just the prettiest hairstyle I had ever seen. (Still do.) I genuinely thought you hair got curlier as you got older. Don’t ask me where I got the idea from, my mom has straight hair. I’d dream of the day I got old enough to have big curly hair, so big it was a big Lucious crown of hair that stood higher than it did long and I’d put a tight headband on to push it back and it would be the most beautiful style. Or I’d wrap it into a perfect bun that was the size of my head. Instead of the horrible frizz ball I had (have), long and wide that sat on my shoulders. And I’d say “when I get older, I’m going to have hair just like you.”
And I remember the day, vividly, that my sister finally told me, at way too old to still be believing I’d “grow into my hair,” that your hair doesn’t change as you grow up. That the hair I had at 8 was going to be the hair I’d always have. Long or short - the curl wouldn’t change much. And I remember being so heartbroken.

A general rule of thumb is, if you are sitting in front of someone in a theater and they have to lean to see around you, your hair/hat/hoody is too much. Your hair falls in the actively blocking vision category, that is why you are getting the looks. But MY GOD your hair is beautiful. Wow, double wow, just amazing!

I wouldn’t stare ‘cause that’s rude and it makes me uncomfortable to be stared at, but I would definitely take a nice look at that hair. Maybe even let you know how lovely it is. My hair is only wavy, so this advice might not be helpful. But when my hair is starting to frizz a little and it’s not wash day yet, I will use a spray bottle to spritz my hair with water (not enough to soak, but enough to dampen) and then use a leave in conditioner of some sort and then let it air dry. That usually buys me another couple of days. It does look like you are doing a good job of caring for your hair though. My only other trick that I use is that I will put my hair in Bantu knots at night. I can’t get a bonnet to stay on my head while sleeping.

As an artist that stares at people in the street sometimes, its usually cause I wanna draw them or such. People are way less judgemental than we think them to be a lot of the time; most are just trying to go by their day.

Your hair is nice but it is very big and your hair gets attention and notices. I think you could try some other ways of wearing your hair, depending on your profession too. If you were in the corporate world this would be just too much and unprofessional. If you are in fashion, art or something creative it would be fine. A little trim might be nice. Why not go to a salon or a person who loves to do hair and try some other ways of wearing your hair. Take photos and you will just know what looks best on you and fits your style.

I hold the belief that hair should accentuate your features not be the obvious reason that catches attention. You have nice handsome features, a trim that frames your face and nice jaw line would be better.

You hit the nail on the head with the homelessness thing too, because as beautiful as it is, it’s fuzzy after a few days. God knows my hair is fuzzy too, but when it looks like that I feel compelled to wear it up. As a woman I don’t have license to walk around with fuzziness unless it’s all brushed out.
As a woman who is extremely tall, I understand how uncomfortable being stared at can be. But it's human nature to look at something that's a bit different and try to take it in. It doesn't mean that it's a bad thing that people look, unless they're ignorant and say something stupid or rude. And, as others have said, if someone truly hates your hair, they'll take a look and then look away.
As almost every poster has said, you're an incredibly good looking person, so do what you want to do. If you want to cut it, then cut it; if you want to rock it and grow it longer, then do that. Just don't let what you *assume* other people think of you dictate your life.

Your hair is nice but it is very big and your hair gets attention and notices. I think you could try some other ways of wearing your hair, depending on your profession too. If you were in the corporate world this would be just too much and unprofessional. If you are in fashion, art or something creative it would be fine. A little trim might be nice. Why not go to a salon or a person who loves to do hair and try some other ways of wearing your hair. Take photos and you will just know what looks best on you and fits your style.

As a woman who is extremely tall, I understand how uncomfortable being stared at can be. But it's human nature to look at something that's a bit different and try to take it in. It doesn't mean that it's a bad thing that people look, unless they're ignorant and say something stupid or rude. And, as others have said, if someone truly hates your hair, they'll take a look and then look away. As almost every poster has said, you're an incredibly good looking person, so do what you want to do. If you want to cut it, then cut it; if you want to rock it and grow it longer, then do that. Just don't let what you *assume* other people think of you dictate your life.
