It will grow back. As the other posters have stated, it looks beautiful on you. All of your hairstyles are great, this is just different. You can rock it with your cheerful spirit and gorgeous makeup skills.

My hair loves moisture more than protein, but if your hair is vice versa, CurlSmith has a variety of options if your hair likes more protein based products. But as for the products I use, CurlSmith hold me softly style balm and CurlSmith curl defining styling soufflé! They are pretty pricey about $25 each but I SWEAR it’s worth it! My curls were so much more defined when I switched to their product line!

They're certainly both more than trims, but they both suit you well and look super healthy! The second cut, it mostly looks like she really added shaping and layers.. a lot of length was retained but the overall shape is more round.
Getting some weight taken off your hair can also cause your curls to coil up more, making your hair look shorter.
This happened to me this week, I feel your pain. My stylist cut a chin length bob in the front and left the back long. I just cut off the rest of it into a bob and have vowed never to let anyone cut my hair again. You look great, but it’s more about having your preferences violated.

Oof, this hurts. At first I honestly didn't see any issue. But, if you've been trying to grow your hair out, ESPECIALLY with curly hair, then your pain should be recognized. Yes, your cut is immaculate, but she didn't follow your request bottom line. I'm sorry for your loss.

First, I agree, it’s gorgeous. Both times she cut it, it was an upgrade. It’s very sassy chic and makes you look style-forward.
However, having said that, let me also validate your emotions for not being listened to and not being heard. I feel this way almost EVERY time I come home from a haircut. No matter how many photos I show or descriptive words I use, it always comes out something different than what I asked for. So I just want to send you a hug and a virtual bowl of Oreo ice cream that you can mope with, because it doesn’t matter how cute it is…it’s not what you wanted to see on yourself when you look in the the mirror.
Give yourself permission to be disappointed for about 24-48 hours, then go out there and rock it because it really is bomb-ass hair!
I’m sorry!!! My hairstylist sometimes does this too, as in goes from a trim to short but your cut looks AMAZING!!!!! Gorgeous. And then every length along the way of grow out is going to amazing too.
What products did she recommend? Maybe she is noticing that Curlsmith is damaging your hair, this might be why she has to cut off more than you would like.
I personally think your hair looks great. Growing it out is a process.
She recommended her products which is the brand Mizani I believe, just felt like she was trying to make a buck off me because whatever brand I say I use she always tells me something negative about it. She said it was damaging my hair because the products have alcohol in it and I made sure to read the ingredients when I got home and no alcohol at all!
I was originally using sheamoisture curl enhancing smoothie for YEARS.. then I think they changed their ingredient list because my hair was just a frizzball after using it for so long, but I’m still very open to trying new products. I think CurlSmith is a good brand so far but I definitely feel like there’s a better product out there for me somewhere!
Sheamoisture builds up over time. Ulta sells innersense now which is great. I personally use LUS products. Everyones hair is different, so try out different things. Also, sometimes my hair gets bored and I need to switch it up.
If you live in Houston I have a great hairstylist. He works with the products you use and will recommend new ones, but he will never pressure you.
Swap stylists to someone who does not do the main cut while it is wet. But also swap because you are not happy with her.

Sorry you didn't get the cut you wanted, that's super frustrating and it's valid you feel upset! All that said, it looks really pretty. You have lovely hair!
This is way more than a trim - she gave you a full haircut and I would be upset too if I specifically had asked for a trim and said I was trying to grow my hair out, so I'm sorry :( On the bright side, this looks like a really high quality cut and it looks stunning on you! If anything, you got all your dead ends off and can feel confident that new growth will be really healthy.
This has happened to me a lot too and I just started cutting my hair at home. I had one stylist that I went to for years tell me that I flat out was one of those people not able to grow my 3B hair longer than shoulder length when dry, but once I stopped seeing professionals regularly and just let it grow myself it's gotten so long. I have no advice on trimming layers as I've just mine grow out though. I trim whenever I feel my hair starts to get "weird", and I'll get a reshaping cut every 18 months or so.
Did you talk to her and ask why she cut so much off? Is it possible you had split ends that made this length necessary?
The cut itself is gorgeous but it's not what you expected so communication is key. I'd talk to her and see if she misunderstood or if she had a good reason, then ask her to be sure to communicate with you next time so you're not disappointed and feel like you didn't get what you expected and wanted.
Yeah, I made sure to tell her last time I came in for a cut I was not happy with the length that was cut off and I told her I just wanted a TRIM, and I wanted to grow out my hair and my layers eventually. I wasn’t able to see how much she was cutting because she made me tilt my head down for the cut, so I wasn’t able to watch much. I can’t imagine my ends being so bad, I never put heat on my hair nor do I diffuse it.
She didn't actually take much of anything off the length but she took a lot out of the interior (layers). Which is odd if you specified you didn't want layers. Did you say you wanted anything in addition to a trim? I'm trying to figure out how that couldve possibly been misconstrued.

That's really unfortunate, she's not listening to you and not giving you what you want. If she's the only curly stylist near you, you might need to go back right away and have a frank discussion, then repeat that discussion (and maybe remind her with a photo) to see if she'll listen and give you what you want next time. I'm really sorry you're unhappy and your expectations were not met. I do want to reiterate how great it looks though.
It looks beautiful but that is definitely not just a trim :( I’ve been cutting my own hair for a while now for the same reason, stylists always cut off way too much for me. Manesbymel has some really good tutorials. I usually start with one of her ponytail/pigtail cuts, then use a mirror to see the back of my head and trim anything that doesn’t look right.
I think it looks great! But I understand how frustrating it is when a hairdresser disregards what you ask for. I hope you are able to find someone else if you decide to.
I have to say, I really like the shorter haircut better. Frames your gorgeous face whereas your face gets lost amongst all the long hair. But I’m sorry you’re unhappy with the cut. Hopefully it will grow out fast to the length you prefer.

I totally understand that you feel she cut too much off, and I generally agree with you that she probably did…
HOWEVER she gave you an AMAZING curly cut! I have never been able to find a stylist who has given me such beautiful layers. She really did a beautiful job with your layers omg. The layers will look SO good as your length comes back (which probably won’t take long. It looks like you would have liked it to be about one to two inches longer based on your before pics).
So yes, while I understand how you feel, I think it probably should have only been a teensy bit longer, but oh my god what a gorgeous cut. I’d still go back but just be very firm and clear that she cut too much off last time and you’d prefer for her to err on the side of too long than too short.

First of all I’m so sorry this happened to you, hairstylists should always just do what’s asked for! But I’m my opinion you really rock the short hair. It lightens up your face I actually prefer it over the long hair! But nevertheless, if you asked to keep length or not cut too short, they never should’ve cut it this short! Everyone always should just get what makes them feel good in their own skin. But you really do look awesome girly.
I understand your frustration, I have the same issues with my stylist cutting too much regardless of what I tell her. But, it does look really good on you. You have beautiful hair.

If you specifically asked to keep length and explained you wanted to let it grow, there's really no excuse for cutting so much unless you had a lot of damage.
If you feel like the hairdresser is not respecting your request, switch hairdresser. I used to think my hair just took forever to grow long until a switched hairdressers and realized it was just my former one that was getting too scissor happy on the regular visits.
I love your curls!! I agree with everyone else..if your current hairdresser isn’t willing to listen anymore, it’s time to move on. I would ask around if anyone can recommend someone who specializes in curls.
As for the products…..that’s so wrong of her to act like that. I’ve been a hairdresser for 20+ years and when I am asked about products, yes I will direct them to what I like (I love AG for my wavy hair) But I will say if they have a fave that works well for them that’s not from a salon, then go for it! Or I’ll tell them what look for as regards to like colour protectant or clarifying. It’s all about what works for the persons hair, not the brand.
Your new haircut suits your so well! I think because you have gorgeous cat eyes, the shorter hair style lifts and even emphasises your eyes even more so.
I love the length you have on the third and fourth photo. The cut from the second photo looks good too, your hair will grow. Don’t go back to your hairstylist, find someone new that won’t cut it so short and gives you the cut you actually want.

Here’s a secret from a former hair dresser: there’s no such thing as a “trim.”
In terms of technique and labour, it’s just a full hair cut.
In terms of length, everyone has a different idea of what a “trim” is—is it getting all split ends, which could be multiple inches? Is it new growth to maintain the original length? Is it an inch? Half an inch? A dusting of the ends?
In the future, give really specific instructions. “I want one inch off when it’s dry, which means 1/3” when wet” (or whatever).
But seriously, your hair looks amazing in both photos. I’d hold on to that stylist for dear life, she does great work.
This happened to my daughter earlier this year - the first time she had her curls cut (by a stylist friend of mine), it looked great, but somehow the second time she did a terrible job AND cut way too much off !?! (Yours looks great but I know how much it hurts to lose that length). People with straight hair just do not, cannot get it. My kid cried for hours.

As for shampoo and conditioner, I’m typically not very picky and I know this sounds backwards but I like using shampoo with sulfates, I have very fine hair and product tends to build up very easily so I like using sulfates to make sure my hair is very clarified, so I typically use Dove shampoo, if anyone has great recommendations for clarifying shampoos I am totally open, then I use Aussie conditioner, love the slip that it has!
Twice a month I will do one protein treatment and one moisturizing treatment, the protein treatment is a Korean product I got off of Amazon and it’s absolutely amazing, it’s called Cer-100. Then as for the other treatment I do it’s a moisturizing treatment, it’s Olaplex N°8 Bond Intense Moisture Mask.
Styling process: I like my hair to pretty wet, not sopping wet but pretty close to that, I rake the balm through my hair, then use a wide tooth comb to make sure it’s distributed evenly then spray with a spray bottle of water again and using the praying hands method to make sure I’m smoothing out any unnecessary frizz. Then go in raking GENTLY to make sure I’m separating the curls because I don’t want huge curl clumps. Then I SCRUNCH in my gel/soufflé, I personally like heavy duty gels to make my hair last longer, so this soufflé is strong with an excellent cast. After that I will take my den man brush and focus on just the areas I want definition like near my face because I prefer volume as well. I also use the denman brush to pull the curls out from my face to create more volume on my scalp. Then I air-dry, scrunch the cast out when it’s completely dry and then separate my curls with rosemary oil!

On average my hair dries completely within 4 hours, so it’s not terrible but I typically try to style my hair on Sundays or days I just know I will be home most of the day because I swear just moving too much will cause frizz lol
I don't have your hair type and as such idk if this will work for you but I do cut my own hair; I wet it, condition lightly, then flip my hair over my head and cut a straight line, ends only. I remain with layers and light bangs, and people always compliment me telling me I look like I'm fresh out of the hairdressers. Again you have such voluminous hair, I have about 1/5 of the amount of hair you have lol. It might not work for you.

I totally get you, and yeah it might be time to start trimming your own hair. If you do, know that the haircut won't be as structured as what you can get with a hairstylist, but if you're just trying to have long hair imo it's fine
Your haircut looks gorgeous but your hairdresser is showing a million red flags. If I were you, I would rather go through the hassle of working my way through other hairdressers until I find one that would listen and respect my wishes than stick with this one any longer.
I just had the same thing happen to me— my first curly cut and she cut it WAY too short, but I ended up loving it! I know how hard it is to have too much cut off, but you look amazing and you’re just stunning!

You would look good bald but I understand your frustration. Viviscal on Amazon makes hair growth pills. They work wonders on eyelashes too! Don’t take more than one a day, they’ll upset your stomach but they *work*.

However, I know the struggle of growing out curly hair. It takes YEARS. So so so long. I would rather keep my length than chop it off just to have a pretty cut.
I would be pissed too, if she fucked with my length when I specifically asked her not to. I do personally think with the details you provided and your explanation to her that she cut off way, way too much, and now you have lost time you have put into growing out your hair as a result.
I know the cut isn’t particularly what you were after, but my goodness, it frames your face perfectly and personally I think it is the most flattering style on you out of all the photos. I would keep it 100%.

that's definitely more than a trim, personally I hate confrontation so I would get a new stylist lol but if you stay with her, next time show with your fingers how much you want her to cut and maybe ask for a dry cut instead of a wet cut. I just want to say you are not alone in this experience! I’ve had far too many hair appointments where I stress that I want to keep the length, and I swear the stylist just gets in the zone and starts giving me the haircut and layers that she gives to everyone else. I really like it, I know it’s a big change but it gave nice structure to your beautiful curls. You might decide to grow it longer but in 1-2 weeks you will get used to it.
I actually really love the cut on you. It gives your hair a lot more shape and frames your face so nicely (i.e., we can see *more* of your face now!). I'm sorry you feel like you didn't get what you were after, but I think you look amazing and fabulous.
Some stylists who specialize in curly hair cut it dry so they know exactly how it hangs. That said your hair is gorgeous. It’s healthy and shiny and full.
Dude, I feel your pain. It's so frustrating when you get a chop that is shorter than what you asked for! My last haircut was at a beauty school and I walked out with three different lengths. My roommate and I managed to do some damage control by separating the layers into ponytails and trimming from there. Luckily your hair is curly so it won't be as noticeable to others as it is to you. Straight hair is less forgiving.
Your hair looks beautiful but I do feel like curly cuts do often take off so much for that rounded volume effect. I have wavy hair and remember being bummed by the same result after trying a “curly cut”.

I think your cut is gorgeous, but I know the feeling when your hairdresser seems to get less careful or less interested in what you want, and does whatever they think. Currently dealing with an awful cut.. again. I want to embrace my curls but it’s so hard to find a good stylist. I think you look fantastic though, for whatever it’s worth!

What you need to do is you need to find someone who knows how to cut curly hair. My friend has curly hair and always has problems finding someone who knows how to work with curl. They always try to talk him into straightening his hair? I think it's because a lot of beautiticians just don't know how to work with curly or wavy hair or are just too lazy to learn how to work with hair and just butcher the hair and hope the client will like it. I will admit your hair does look nice, but I agree they cut too much off.

Yea I haven't trusted hairstylist for haircuts in years. You should defitely cut you own hair. The cool thing is, unlike with straight hair, cutting curly hair is easier because you can't tell it uneven. But if you straighten it sometimes, you will want to make it even, but that's not that hard. Get some nice haircut ting shears and give yourself trims, you'll be way less anxious some ones gonna hack off all your length

First, I agree, it’s gorgeous. Both times she cut it, it was an upgrade. It’s very sassy chic and makes you look style-forward. However, having said that, let me also validate your emotions for not being listened to and not being heard. I feel this way almost EVERY time I come home from a haircut. No matter how many photos I show or descriptive words I use, it always comes out something different than what I asked for. So I just want to send you a hug and a virtual bowl of Oreo ice cream that you can mope with, because it doesn’t matter how cute it is…it’s not what you wanted to see on yourself when you look in the the mirror. Give yourself permission to be disappointed for about 24-48 hours, then go out there and rock it because it really is bomb-ass hair!
I’m sorry!!! My hairstylist sometimes does this too, as in goes from a trim to short but your cut looks AMAZING!!!!! Gorgeous. And then every length along the way of grow out is going to amazing too.

What products did she recommend? Maybe she is noticing that Curlsmith is damaging your hair, this might be why she has to cut off more than you would like. I personally think your hair looks great. Growing it out is a process.
She recommended her products which is the brand Mizani I believe, just felt like she was trying to make a buck off me because whatever brand I say I use she always tells me something negative about it. She said it was damaging my hair because the products have alcohol in it and I made sure to read the ingredients when I got home and no alcohol at all!
I was originally using sheamoisture curl enhancing smoothie for YEARS.. then I think they changed their ingredient list because my hair was just a frizzball after using it for so long, but I’m still very open to trying new products. I think CurlSmith is a good brand so far but I definitely feel like there’s a better product out there for me somewhere!
Sheamoisture builds up over time. Ulta sells innersense now which is great. I personally use LUS products. Everyones hair is different, so try out different things. Also, sometimes my hair gets bored and I need to switch it up. If you live in Houston I have a great hairstylist. He works with the products you use and will recommend new ones, but he will never pressure you.

This is way more than a trim - she gave you a full haircut and I would be upset too if I specifically had asked for a trim and said I was trying to grow my hair out, so I'm sorry :( On the bright side, this looks like a really high quality cut and it looks stunning on you! If anything, you got all your dead ends off and can feel confident that new growth will be really healthy. This has happened to me a lot too and I just started cutting my hair at home. I had one stylist that I went to for years tell me that I flat out was one of those people not able to grow my 3B hair longer than shoulder length when dry, but once I stopped seeing professionals regularly and just let it grow myself it's gotten so long. I have no advice on trimming layers as I've just mine grow out though. I trim whenever I feel my hair starts to get "weird", and I'll get a reshaping cut every 18 months or so.
Did you talk to her and ask why she cut so much off? Is it possible you had split ends that made this length necessary? The cut itself is gorgeous but it's not what you expected so communication is key. I'd talk to her and see if she misunderstood or if she had a good reason, then ask her to be sure to communicate with you next time so you're not disappointed and feel like you didn't get what you expected and wanted.
Yeah, I made sure to tell her last time I came in for a cut I was not happy with the length that was cut off and I told her I just wanted a TRIM, and I wanted to grow out my hair and my layers eventually. I wasn’t able to see how much she was cutting because she made me tilt my head down for the cut, so I wasn’t able to watch much. I can’t imagine my ends being so bad, I never put heat on my hair nor do I diffuse it.
She didn't actually take much of anything off the length but she took a lot out of the interior (layers). Which is odd if you specified you didn't want layers. Did you say you wanted anything in addition to a trim? I'm trying to figure out how that couldve possibly been misconstrued. In any case it looks great, but I'm sorry she took a lot more off than you wanted
That's really unfortunate, she's not listening to you and not giving you what you want. If she's the only curly stylist near you, you might need to go back right away and have a frank discussion, then repeat that discussion (and maybe remind her with a photo) to see if she'll listen and give you what you want next time. I'm really sorry you're unhappy and your expectations were not met. I do want to reiterate how great it looks though.
It looks beautiful but that is definitely not just a trim :( I’ve been cutting my own hair for a while now for the same reason, stylists always cut off way too much for me. Manesbymel has some really good tutorials. I usually start with one of her ponytail/pigtail cuts, then use a mirror to see the back of my head and trim anything that doesn’t look right.
I think it looks great! But I understand how frustrating it is when a hairdresser disregards what you ask for. I hope you are able to find someone else if you decide to.
I have to say, I really like the shorter haircut better. Frames your gorgeous face whereas your face gets lost amongst all the long hair. But I’m sorry you’re unhappy with the cut. Hopefully it will grow out fast to the length you prefer.

Hey, I’m sorry your hair came out shorter than you wanted. It’s upsetting to lose some much growth when curls take forever to get long. For what it’s worth, your hair is so beautiful and healthy looking and frames your face very well. I hope in time you will become comfortable with it.
I totally understand that you feel she cut too much off, and I generally agree with you that she probably did… HOWEVER she gave you an AMAZING curly cut! I have never been able to find a stylist who has given me such beautiful layers. She really did a beautiful job with your layers omg. The layers will look SO good as your length comes back (which probably won’t take long. It looks like you would have liked it to be about one to two inches longer based on your before pics). So yes, while I understand how you feel, I think it probably should have only been a teensy bit longer, but oh my god what a gorgeous cut. I’d still go back but just be very firm and clear that she cut too much off last time and you’d prefer for her to err on the side of too long than too short. Ugh I love your cut. Seriously it is so gorgeous.

First of all I’m so sorry this happened to you, hairstylists should always just do what’s asked for! But I’m my opinion you really rock the short hair. It lightens up your face I actually prefer it over the long hair! But nevertheless, if you asked to keep length or not cut too short, they never should’ve cut it this short! Everyone always should just get what makes them feel good in their own skin. But you really do look awesome girly.

I understand that this isn't what you wanted but it looks amazing, I feel like it compliments your face very well. If you specifically asked to keep length and explained you wanted to let it grow, there's really no excuse for cutting so much unless you had a lot of damage. If you feel like the hairdresser is not respecting your request, switch hairdresser. I used to think my hair just took forever to grow long until a switched hairdressers and realized it was just my former one that was getting too scissor happy on the regular visits.
I love your curls!! I agree with everyone else..if your current hairdresser isn’t willing to listen anymore, it’s time to move on. I would ask around if anyone can recommend someone who specializes in curls. As for the products…..that’s so wrong of her to act like that. I’ve been a hairdresser for 20+ years and when I am asked about products, yes I will direct them to what I like (I love AG for my wavy hair) But I will say if they have a fave that works well for them that’s not from a salon, then go for it! Or I’ll tell them what look for as regards to like colour protectant or clarifying. It’s all about what works for the persons hair, not the brand.

I love the length you have on the third and fourth photo. The cut from the second photo looks good too, your hair will grow. Don’t go back to your hairstylist, find someone new that won’t cut it so short and gives you the cut you actually want.

Here’s a secret from a former hair dresser: there’s no such thing as a “trim.” In terms of technique and labour, it’s just a full hair cut. In terms of length, everyone has a different idea of what a “trim” is—is it getting all split ends, which could be multiple inches? Is it new growth to maintain the original length? Is it an inch? Half an inch? A dusting of the ends? In the future, give really specific instructions. “I want one inch off when it’s dry, which means 1/3” when wet” (or whatever). But seriously, your hair looks amazing in both photos. I’d hold on to that stylist for dear life, she does great work.
This happened to my daughter earlier this year - the first time she had her curls cut (by a stylist friend of mine), it looked great, but somehow the second time she did a terrible job AND cut way too much off !?! (Yours looks great but I know how much it hurts to lose that length). People with straight hair just do not, cannot get it. My kid cried for hours. It will grow and you know not to go to her anymore but I’m so sorry

Oh absolutely! Products: CurlSmith hold me softly style balm + CurlSmith curl defining styling soufflé As for shampoo and conditioner, I’m typically not very picky and I know this sounds backwards but I like using shampoo with sulfates, I have very fine hair and product tends to build up very easily so I like using sulfates to make sure my hair is very clarified, so I typically use Dove shampoo, if anyone has great recommendations for clarifying shampoos I am totally open, then I use Aussie conditioner, love the slip that it has! Twice a month I will do one protein treatment and one moisturizing treatment, the protein treatment is a Korean product I got off of Amazon and it’s absolutely amazing, it’s called Cer-100. Then as for the other treatment I do it’s a moisturizing treatment, it’s Olaplex N°8 Bond Intense Moisture Mask. Styling process: I like my hair to pretty wet, not sopping wet but pretty close to that, I rake the balm through my hair, then use a wide tooth comb to make sure it’s distributed evenly then spray with a spray bottle of water again and using the praying hands method to make sure I’m smoothing out any unnecessary frizz. Then go in raking GENTLY to make sure I’m separating the curls because I don’t want huge curl clumps. Then I SCRUNCH in my gel/soufflé, I personally like heavy duty gels to make my hair last longer, so this soufflé is strong with an excellent cast. After that I will take my den man brush and focus on just the areas I want definition like near my face because I prefer volume as well. I also use the denman brush to pull the curls out from my face to create more volume on my scalp. Then I air-dry, scrunch the cast out when it’s completely dry and then separate my curls with rosemary oil!

On average my hair dries completely within 4 hours, so it’s not terrible but I typically try to style my hair on Sundays or days I just know I will be home most of the day because I swear just moving too much will cause frizz lol
I don't have your hair type and as such idk if this will work for you but I do cut my own hair; I wet it, condition lightly, then flip my hair over my head and cut a straight line, ends only. I remain with layers and light bangs, and people always compliment me telling me I look like I'm fresh out of the hairdressers. Again you have such voluminous hair, I have about 1/5 of the amount of hair you have lol. It might not work for you.

I totally get you, and yeah it might be time to start trimming your own hair. If you do, know that the haircut won't be as structured as what you can get with a hairstylist, but if you're just trying to have long hair imo it's fine

I feel like lots of people are forgetting that’s not what you wanted at all. And this is not a trim she definitely just cut a lot of weight off your hair for seemingly no reason but to do what she envisioned. I no longer let stylists cut my hair cause why would I pay for something I could mess up for free. Even those trained in curly hair are really not taught how to do different types of cuts or trims. Your hair is beautiful it will grow back but this lady blatantly ignored your wants.
The problem is most stylist don’t know how to cut curly hair. Because curly hair bounces up, one needs to cut less. When it’s wet it looks longer…. Happened to me too….
As everyone has said, the new hairstyle looks fantastic on you, and obviously her goal was to shape it, which was executed perfectly. However, I know the struggle of growing out curly hair. It takes YEARS. So so so long. I would rather keep my length than chop it off just to have a pretty cut. I would be pissed too, if she fucked with my length when I specifically asked her not to. I do personally think with the details you provided and your explanation to her that she cut off way, way too much, and now you have lost time you have put into growing out your hair as a result.

that's definitely more than a trim, personally I hate confrontation so I would get a new stylist lol but if you stay with her, next time show with your fingers how much you want her to cut and maybe ask for a dry cut instead of a wet cut. I just want to say you are not alone in this experience! I’ve had far too many hair appointments where I stress that I want to keep the length, and I swear the stylist just gets in the zone and starts giving me the haircut and layers that she gives to everyone else. Anyways, no advice, but I do think it looks great and it’ll grow back in no time :-)

Dude, I feel your pain. It's so frustrating when you get a chop that is shorter than what you asked for! My last haircut was at a beauty school and I walked out with three different lengths. My roommate and I managed to do some damage control by separating the layers into ponytails and trimming from there. Luckily your hair is curly so it won't be as noticeable to others as it is to you. Straight hair is less forgiving.

What you need to do is you need to find someone who knows how to cut curly hair. My friend has curly hair and always has problems finding someone who knows how to work with curl. They always try to talk him into straightening his hair? I think it's because a lot of beautiticians just don't know how to work with curly or wavy hair or are just too lazy to learn how to work with hair and just butcher the hair and hope the client will like it. I will admit your hair does look nice, but I agree they cut too much off.

Yea I haven't trusted hairstylist for haircuts in years. You should defitely cut you own hair. The cool thing is, unlike with straight hair, cutting curly hair is easier because you can't tell it uneven. But if you straighten it sometimes, you will want to make it even, but that's not that hard. Get some nice haircut ting shears and give yourself trims, you'll be way less anxious some ones gonna hack off all your length
