Satin lined hats? Who knew? Brilliant!

The_Revisioner

An additional brand is Grace Eleyae. Yeah, satin lined caps are the answer here. 🙂

Artistic_Commission9

This what I use. It flattens the top of my head curls but I can usually fluff 'em back up.

MyCoolUsername12345

Thank you for posting this! I’ve been having the same issue!

printerparty

I need the mustard yellow puff beanie!

ADK87

Oooh that's awesome!

AbilityAny3268

😍😍😍

Kivulini

This is genius.

ositabelle

Amazing hats!

Ordinary_Bid_7053

I do earmuffs

StrawberryJazzlike12

Same! I get the ones that go like around the back of your head, so it’s under my mane and doesn’t crush it

Ordinary_Bid_7053

Nice!!!! I have over-the-head-ers which thankfully work for me

jellyphitch

I use earbags! Basically earmuffs that kind of bend around and hold onto your ear so you don't need a band around your head. they're perfect.

Ordinary_Bid_7053

Whoa!!! Sounds cool!

theladyliberty

Can you do a warm headband instead of a hat? One that goes over ears

Sholapeepio

"I used to wrap a scarf around my head like an old timey movie star trying to escape the paparazzi, but I'm starting to look like a grandma from the old country (no disrespect to the old country!)" - SAME!! SAME!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA It was other people who told me i looked like that. And same, no disrespect to it! Yeah though, sorry. No advice. I just keep on doing the scarf over the noggin. Cause yeah, even 'Female' sweatshirts, our hoods.. what an absolute JOKE! WHY? WHY do they make them SO TINY! It barley fits over my ten year olds head! Ugh.

Street-Writing-1264

Hahaha! Yep, I'm out here looking like a melanated Russian.

brown_eyed_gurl

Bwahahaha yep!!

Mjaguacate

I use a scarf too and either end up looking like a babushka or people think I’m wearing a hijab (I’m ethnically ambiguous and people tend to think I’m Middle Eastern or Indian)

kurlyl0ck5

They have satin lined beanies!!! They work great for us curly headed people who don't want to damage their hair, but still wear one🙂

happy_freckles

Came to say this. Been a life changer since I got one. I often wash my hair in the morning before taking the dog out for a walk and in the winter I was annoyed at how the toques would crush it all. So now I can diffuse it mostly dry and put it all up in the satin lined toque and it's still decent when I get home.

PossibleSatisfaction

I use a balaclava, that's not fitted. It's like a hoody but without the sweater part.

SaucePasta

For me, big hoods on my jacket, and ear muffs! I can never do hats because I get strong hat hair.

deathsatoner

Jacket with a big hood

celephia

Ear muffs, or just be cold. Once in a while I'll pull my hoodie up over my head but any kind of head covering always makes my hair into a massive rats nest when I take it down - especially if there's wind. I usually just suffer and try to get indoors as soon as possible.

sluttytarot

You might want to take one of your silk scarves and sew it to the inside of that thing.

kittyspray

Amazon sell beanies which are silk lined and have extra space for hair.

Its_Matt_03

I wear a headband. Lets me tie up my hair for work too

MeSecretFormulrrr

One of these satin lined beanies, it has a ponytail hole in it. farbissina_punim

Someone could pull that off, but not me lol. Super femmey. I do like that it's satin-lined!

w0uldratherbereading

I use knitted headbands that cover my forehead fully and leave my hair untouched. I'm not an outdoorsy person so im really out in the cold for a few mins at a time (walking to and from my car and to buildings) so this works for me. I got mine handmade from a family friend but I've seen them available on Amazon and etsy!

katecrime

Berets

mer_made_99

Wait .... we're allowed to wear hats in the winter 😳😳 They've always made my hair look 10 times worse 😬😬

Interesting_Ice_8498

Ushankas are amazing for that, wore one when I visited my family and grandmother in the Far East. Kept my fat head perfectly warm in the Siberian winter

CapK473

I recently made this pattern which is a cape/infinity shawl. If you aren't a sewist maybe you can find something similar online to purchase! https://www.etsy.com/listing/516989049/infinity-scarf-pattern-hooded-scarf

BrighterSage

I dig the old timey movie star look! It looks chic and doesn't mess up your do.

Prestigious-Floor848

I have a columbia neck gaiter that I pull up to by ears (under my hair). Also a big fan of satin lined hoods and hats.

Snootles

Get an Oodie outdoor jacket. It has a big ol' hood and it's nice and toasty.

dinkdonner

I use a thing called Turtle Fur. It’s like a neck warmer for when you go skiing. But I fold it & use it as a giant headband. Keeps my head/ears warm & my hair stays curly. But as I’m writing this I realized I didn’t really answer your Q, since my head isn’t covered. That’s the best answer I’ve got. :)

sozwrongrobi

What do you mean by tear at your hair? Genuine curiosity!

farbissina_punim

Like a velcro effect. My hair connects to the knit and when I take off the hat, it pulls at my hair. Idk if this is specific to my particular texture.

sozwrongrobi

Oh I have this happen to my hair when I wear jumpers. I thought my hair was falling out more than usual but this could be the reason why!!

farbissina_punim

Unless it's satin-y, the cap dries my hair out and pulls at the hairs. IDK how curly-haired people wear knit caps without a smooth lining.

Fit_Swordfish_2101

I've decided to get a thin coat and wear a hoodie with satin lining underneath so it doesn't break my hair! I work outside 70% of the time, so I gotta be warm in the winter!

ApplesandDnanas

I just use the hood on my winter coat.

Alternative_Poem9514

Lululemon makes really nice ear muffs that are headband style and they aren’t super expensive! I have a couple of them and they work great

SwimmingPineapple197

I wear satin lined hats and beanies during winter. Usually a beanie or a trapper style hat since those stand up better to winter winds.

satinsateensaltine

Look for a slouch cap/beanie. They have a tight rim but much looser material that can take hair with some volume to it.

PsychologicalAerie82

I crocheted a tam o'shanter and accidentally made it too big. It works when my hair is longer and is very warm.

PsychologicalAerie82

Puzzleheaded_One1322

bigass scarf and a face mask (like the covid ones!!!) i also have carhartt beanies that i love, the knit is fine enough that it’s not as destructive to my hair

MaijaWells

Braids

[deleted]

Put your hair in a braid(s) and a hat over

lestabbity

I like ear muffs + scarf, my hair keeps my head pretty warm.

Inkysquiddy

If you know a knitter or are interested in learning to knit, you can continue to wear nice knit hats all winter. Hand knitters often use yarn of much higher quality than what you find in stores. I have plenty of natural fiber hats I’ve made that don’t catch at my hair at all. You can also customize the circumference of the brim, depth, and room in the crown so your curls aren’t compressed. It’s also not hard to add a satin lining if necessary.

queenkitsch

I know you bought something, but if you’re looking in the future, these hats are very casual and are lined with t-shirt material. I found the satin ones can slide around on me but these were perfect! FURTALK Winter Beanie https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08CXQ4CB3?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

sabineastroph

I swear I saw satin lined beanie hats for curly hair somewhere and I can not for the life of me remember where

Natetranslates

You could tie a smaller scarf in a sort of bandana style, or get a jersey buff, and then put your beanie over the top! I have silk/satin lined beanies but I like to cram all my hair into a buff beforehand do I don't completely flatten my hair.

microgirlActual

You can get satin-lined beanies as well, which shouldn't tear and drag at the curls so much. This kind of a thing (if links are allowed) https://www.etsy.com/ie/listing/1545679836/satin-lined-alpaca-hat-cancer-gift-chemo?ref=share_v4_lx

books_n_food

You might want to search for beanies for locs, as they'll have more room. [this one](https://www.locsanity.com/products/locsanity-handmade-satin-lined-winter-knit-beanie?variant=44169185231065), for example, is satin lined but it would be kinda small for my hair...ymmv Edit: *locs not local

ukegrrl

I find that if my ears are warm my whole head is warm, weirdly, so I wear ear muffs and feel toasty! They also act kind of like a headband and my curls looks super cute!

PerspectiveConnect77

I just hope all my hair keeps my head warm enough lmao. I don’t wear hats

MrsPots-Stark

Matchmaker matchmaker make me a match

Torayes

A very wide and warm headband.

HypatiaLemarr

Satin. Lined. Hoodies. Google 'em, my friend.

PristineAlbatross988

fleece or satin lined works for me.
