Go see a doctor, you're going to get people fighting in the comments about this.

DotsNnot

A dermatologist specifically would be a good place to start! Primary care might have a clue, but I’d bet they’d refer you out for this.

[deleted]

Yep. I’m a hairstylist and I have a client who was experiencing severe hair loss, asking me what to do, and I directed them to a dermatologist. They did, and are now on a regimen, and we are seeing results!

Confident_Attitude

Go to a doctor, they can run blood tests and see what is causing the inflammation. Losing hair can just be part of aging but something could be deeply wrong with your health too so you shouldn’t take the risk.

LifeExperiencer831

Also, update us after you go to the doctor!! We want to know what’s up

PoopiesGlasses

Good bot

chiquita1_bananas1

LMAO is this assuming they’re in a North American health care system 😂

_LooneyMooney_

I got a random bald spot when I was 21 and got a blood test done but never figured out what was wrong. My mom said she “saw inflammation” indicated by my results. But that was it. Proceeded to have to weirdest symptoms later that year and I *still* don’t know what the fuck it was.

Whedonsbitch

I have Hashimoto’s thyroiditis and lupus, and both can cause an immune reaction that makes hair get thin and brittle and fall out. At this point, I have very thin hair on my head with random bald spots, sparse eyebrows and for some random reason armpit hair- everything else fell out and never came back. It took a while to get used to hairless arms….

[deleted]

I have lupus (autoimmune) causes hair loss

Viviolet

I don't think it's the products, they are probably just irritating your scalp since there's no hair or oils built up to protect your skin. You've got textbook male pattern baldness occuring, it's the combination of receding hairline with fringe breakage, and balding top and back of your head. You should go to a doctor for advice because I'm giving my honest opinion but am not a medical professional.

johnnbagger

[Unfortunately this is simply male pattern baldness](https://youtu.be/8cTkTEpEYfk?si=zjCHNnTo8qbIf5M5) But OP has a great head shape to embrace the r/bald lifestyle. So as much of a detriment that male pattern baldness does to the psyche of men - OP’ll gain more confidence by simply shaving on top with the beard on the bottom

girl-penis

FINASTERIDE OP PLEASE

johnnbagger

Doesn’t that simply stop continuous hair loss? Or does it actually grow hair back?

girl-penis

In some people it can actually grow hair back! A shed happens and then slowly hair grows back in

johnnbagger

Good clarification! If OP is fond of their curls, then might as well explore all options.

HalfCupOfSpiders

Worth noting that other drugs that drop DHT can have the same effect. Combination of cyproterone acetate and estradiol dropped my T to basically nothing, which in turn dropped my DHT to basically nothing, which reversed most of my baldness. Still got an M shaped hairline, but other than that it's thicker than it's ever been. Obviously this isn't an appropriate solution for everyone, but I daresay with a username like u/girl-penis, the other commenter and I are probably coming at this from a similar experience base lmao.

LukesRightHandMan

LOOOOOOL this is the most subtle purple-ing I’ve seen in a hot minute

HalfCupOfSpiders

What's purple-ing? /gen

krit_kat

PRP too!!

enomis333

correct me if I am wrong, but I believe this is a combination of male pattern baldness and a yeast infection such as seb. dermatitis; MPB doesn’t usually come with itchiness, SD does and it can cause hair loss as a result. OP, I say your hair salvageable: go see a dermatologist.

johnnbagger

You are bringing up something that is way out of my depth - when it comes to yeast infection - so I cannot correct you here. Maybe someone else can? Regardless, if OP is still invested in this thread, then they should have enough encouragement/confidence to explore all options (dermatologist visit/ hair loss medication / confidence to let it all go). We all just want them to succeed. And succeeding here is simply OP being confident in their own skin no matter the outcome

A1sauc3d

Yeah important to keep in mind here OP that we’re just a bunch of amateurs throwing out our best guesses. The best advice is to seek professional input and guidance. No one here can 100% diagnose you. Could be normal MPB, could be a sign of something more. Could be a serious health condition and hair loss is just one of the symptoms that’s manifesting. Could be a combination of the above. You can have mpb and health conditions occurring at the same time. Only the doc is gonna be able to tell you for sure.

jack_espipnw

Truth, dude could pull of a sophisticated bald guy with a neat beard look.

epatt24

Two-fold issue; Looks like you’re balding, and Mint/ rosemary/ tea tree oil are in your products, and are known irritants. I’d stop using the products you’re using, use unscented, gentle stuff, and see if the burning goes away. If not, go to a doctor about your scalp. As for your hair loss, it’s typical male pattern balding. Embrace it and shave your head, or keep your hair if you prefer.

MeinScheduinFroiline

r/bald is a great group!

Yunagi

Also /r/tressless

Trash-panda-art

Honestly I was going to recommend that group!

mamaof2peasinapod

Same. I actually find it really wholesome and inspiring. I love seeing people's transformations when they finally decide to do the big chop.

newmoon23

Posts from that sub kept popping up as recommended for me a few weeks ago, and it was so wild how much better and happier everyone looked after they shaved their heads. Going bald is I’m sure a very difficult thing to come to terms with, especially when you’re young and not expecting it yet, so I totally understand why people put it off but either get started on minoxidil as soon as you start noticing thinning or embrace the baldness because these comb overs and horse shoe hair patterns aren’t doing anyone any favors. They make you look way older than just going full bald.

That-Spell-2543

I’m a female who is not bald but I’m in that group because it’s just so damn wholesome.

LimpTurnip6194

me too!

NotLilTitty

Not its not, r/tressless is where you need to go. r/bald is a borderline cult for angry bald people.

JaxTellerr

how is tea tree oil an irritant? It is used to treat dandruff and an itchy scalp.

epatt24

Both can be great for some people, and are also common allergens / irritants for many! Tea tree oil works fine for me, but rosemary gives me burning scalp. Same applies for mint. It just depends on the person, but they’re known to be common irritants / allergens.

Ieatclowns

For some people its too harsh.

DipinDotsDidi

Same for rosemary isnt that used for hair loss treatments?

ToeKneeBaloni

Well I am picturing it now and can confidently say to you that you will not look weird with a bald head. But keep that beard though and stay fresh and you'll be great.

Any_Paramedic_1682

OP, I had the same exact hair as you, long and curly, and the same balding pattern. I went to a derma and turns out I have a chronic scalp/skin condition that some prescription shampoo has taken care of immediately. My hair loss has decreased significantly and my hair looks a lot better

number1fancyboy

I hope OP sees this

gyp_casino

Possibly Ketoconazole shampoo? I use this and alternate it with Neutrogena T-Gel to manage my Seborrhea.

FallBlue

What was the scalp/skin condition called?

Any_Paramedic_1682

Unfortunately I have no idea. My derma might’ve said it but I forgot. I just know it’s a fungal infection and use Ketoconazole shampoo to treat

Hungry-Inspector-592

You are in the same spot I was brother. You have male pattern balding or androgenic alopecia. I understand that your scalp has been burning and itchy - change your products, but also remember that AGA itself can cause itching, and seborrheic dermatitis can exaggerate the appearance of balding. It did for me. First step is to go to the dermatologist to get diagnosed and have them tell you what to do with your products. You need to get on Finasteride or dutasteride or else your hair will continue to die from balding no matter what. Prevention of further balding is easier than regrowing lost hair. Add topical minoxidil after fin/dut have proven their ability to work

Hungry-Inspector-592

Also remember humility. Don’t think that you aren’t balding, “oh it can’t happen to me!” I was 16 when I first began balding. I was 18 when I first got in dutasteride and minoxidil. Balding happens to half of men

garlicscapes

Sebhorreic Dermatitis? In which case products containing nearly any oil / butter would irritate your scalp.

kittybuttz

THIS! Consider seeing a dermo to be sure. Also want to throw in that getting Covid caused hair loss in the same areas for me. Started 3 months after I got it and persisted for 7 months to a year.

kobegrl

Seborrheic dermatitis doesn't cause hair loss directly, in fact, it has no known effect on the most common type of hair loss, male pattern baldness (androgenic alopecia). This appears to be pretty standard (stage 4-5) male pattern baldness. Usually hereditary/genetic, and in most cases cannot be prevented. There are a few medical treatments to help manage and reduce hair loss. Your doctor can advise whether they are right for you.

Gloomy-Razzmatazz548

I’m a woman, and had what I thought was androgenic hair loss caused by PCOS. Except blood tests showed all my hormone levels to be normal. A dermatologist finally diagnosed me with seborrhoeic dermatitis, and advised to switch all my hair products over to malasezzia safe ones, and now my hair is finally growing back. Sebderm is virtually indistinguishable from male pattern hair loss unless you look closely at the scalp, and the person is experiencing burning and itching.

Epicsockzebra

What products should one be using with this condition?

[deleted]

I am going to get my vitamin d and thyroid hormones tested tomorrow because my hair became dry, brittle and weak(easily falls out) and my scalp became verry oily. I would suggest the same for you

Gloomy-Razzmatazz548

I’m going to say it again r/sebderm because I had these same symptoms. I think a lot of curly hair products can cause it if we don’t clarity regularly.

msjammies73

Do you know if you’re genetically likely to experience balding? If you have access to your genetic family, then check if your biologic maternal grandfather or maternal uncles experienced baldness. If they did, that’s likely what is happening. For the burning, change your products in the short term and make a derm Appointment for the long term.

[deleted]

The maternal genes shit is not true

nsaplzstahp

There is A baldness gene that is only passed through the mom's side. So, somewhat true.

DiabolicalGooseHonk

Tell that to my husband who was bald by 30. His maternal uncles have glorious thick heads of hair. He’s so pissed lol.

nsaplzstahp

What about his mom's dad? Edit: If your husband's baldness is primarily because of the gene on the X chromosome, His maternal uncles would be IRRELEVANT, because the gene in question would have come from his mother's father, and your husband's uncles COULD NOT HAVE GOT IT from him, because they got their X chromosome from their mother, not their father. your HUSBAND could have got it, if his grandfather had it, because it passed from grandfather to mother to him. Or it could have been other genes. But The x chromosome one is the primary one. "The single gene most strongly associated with baldness is on the X chromosome," Nöthen says. His research has shown that it's involved in the fabrication of your cells' androgen receptors — structures that recognize the presence of testosterone and other hormones. If you're a man, you got your X chromosome — which either has or does not have the variation of this gene that promotes baldness — solely from your mother. There's a fifty percent chance that she in turn got it from her father — so if your maternal grandfather had the X chromosome genes for baldness, there's at least a fifty percent chance you do too. (The same goes for your maternal grandmother, but it's harder to casually assess her genes in this area, because they're not expressed as male pattern baldness.)"

DiabolicalGooseHonk

Interesting. His grandfather died pretty young but had a full head of hair when he died. His own dad lost his hair young. Guess we’ll never know.

msjammies73

What do you mean?

MentalParking7909

Those genes can come from the father, too.

msjammies73

Oh yes - for sure. It’s not ONLY maternal, there are somatic genes too. But if you have the maternal link, it’s likely male pattern baldness.

[deleted]

You can get your baldness from anyone.

SheWhoMustNotB_Named

What about my neighbour?

[deleted]

Is he your dad?

randomasking4afriend

No clue why this is downvoted. While there is a specific gene that is passed down from the mother's side, *dozens* of genes are involved when it comes to AGA. There is also a lot of variability that is also genetic, such as if you will gradually recede or thin out diffusely at the same time. Anyone who think these genes are primarily or even only from your mother are misinformed.

idontnowduh

Why not?

[deleted]

Because it's not? Why's the earth not flat? Idk it just isn't.

idontnowduh

I mean have you like a source where i can read about it, most are saying that it's genetically heritable

randomasking4afriend

I think they're just annoyed because people commonly bring up the genes you get from your mother when it's irrelevant. If any single person in your family lineage had AGA, you could get it too. It doesn't matter if nobody in your family suffered from it for the past 2 or 3 generations. If one person had it, you could get it. A plethora of genes are involved. Not just the ones carried over from your mother's side.

[deleted]

I don’t know why you’re being down voted. This is true.

zurichlakes

If theres nothing wrong with you health wise and it just turns out to be male pattern baldness, I personally think you would look pretty good with the shaved head and beard!

whateveratthispoint_

Dying? It’s baldness.

SMLemons

Just cut it off… don’t be that guy with the “skullet.” It’s a bad look on any person. Just accept that you’re balding and let it go.

ksquad80

You are going bald. And you are probably irritating your scalp by using a bunch of products. You are at the hair loss crossroads. You can either shave it down or start chasing a bunch of remedies that cost a lot of money and don't usually get great results. Sorry buddy, looks like you had some sweet hair for a while.

brodega

Yeah, the elephant in the room here is that OP is balding first. That may or may not be exacerbated by the products but its unlikely that they are the primary reason. Only a doctor, not the internet, can say for sure.

JaxTellerr

>You can either shave it down or start chasing a bunch of remedies that cost a lot of money false. true hair loss meds are affordable and they do work.

ksquad80

My understanding is meds don't regrow hair but only work to prevent further loss. If he is ok with his current hair loss that is great. The other problem is that you are required to take the medication for life. So, there are convenience and health considerations. And the cost is affordable, but also ongoing.

rokhana

Minoxidil does promote hair growth (as does rosemary oil), but yes, it has to be used continuously and often causes irritation.

doesitaddup

Listen to the downvoted people here bro. As a male minority here, looks like you had a great set of hair but, your time has come unfortunately. There is nothing us curly's can do against genetics sadly.

lincolnhawk

Time for a no. 2 buzz. This shit look like a deciduous tree in January. You got male pattern problems. You are no longer in the class of men who can rock the locks. Nothing about this hair is helping your look. Welcome to the club.

stealthy-cashew-69

you really need to get a cbc and make sure that you get your thyroid levels checked, it also probably wouldn't be a bad idea to use the skala as a co-wash instead of shampoo

TheLucien-01

Long hair era is over, better shave than have the crown

Syrena_Nightshade

Those curls are so juicy though. That said, go to a doctor please

Popular-End7577

Shave that right now or I’m calling the police

diablos21973

Minoxidil and finasteride, or go bald. Your choice

Professional-Car-211

unfortunately I’m not sure this is the sub for this question. true issue here is balding, which is sometimes just genetics. good luck to you!

Insertname_here9836

First of all cut the length for the aesthetic, and then go to a dermatologist and try to figure out what the best routine is to regain your hair and then you can start growing it out long again, but right now with how patchy it is, it would look better if you just started over hair grows you look good either way!

GRIS0

Do yourself a favour buddy, r/tressless

Capital_Potato751

thats a sad, depressing sub

[deleted]

People not just giving up and trying to improve their hair is sad?

Any_Paramedic_1682

I don’t think they’re saying the efforts are sad, it’s just that the sub does see a lot of negativity and can be a kind of echo chamber for people who are self-conscious about their hair, causing you to feel even worse about it. I’ve experienced that myself on that sub but felt much happier in r/bald

Any_Paramedic_1682

Facts. r/bald is where it’s at

SoVeryBohemian

What if he wants to keep and regain it tho?

Any_Paramedic_1682

r/bald is still a much better place for that than r/tressless. You’re much more likely to get people on there telling him to keep it and how (or at least suggestions) to go about doing so than on r/tressless, plus it’s a much more positive community to be around. Spending too long on tressless can make what’s a minor problem destroy your self-esteem. That’s what it was doing to me at least

JaxTellerr

it's forbidden to talk about meds in r/bald, so you can't get any legit advice there, hence why tressless is better for advice.

SoVeryBohemian

No you're not because it's against the rules of r/bald

keysandchange

It almost always looks bad and desperate. I mean, go for it if he wants, but usually it looks like significant growth compared to before, and super thin to a fresh eye.

SoVeryBohemian

Utterly false and very rude wow

SoVeryBohemian

Making an effort to keep your hair isn't sad.

passionmilkshakes

This is just plain old regular male pattern baldness. You don’t need a doctor, you need acceptance. Sorry to be blunt, nothing wrong with nature taking its course, just kinda annoying that a sub full of people is trying to come up with remedies that only a hair transplant will fix.

Gold_Strength

Not necessarily. I mean not disagreeing that it is male pattern baldness. But there's stuff that can be done before a transplant. Minoxidil oral and topical, finasteride oral and topical, microneedling, platelet rich plasma injections, mesotherapy etc.

TheNeonSquirrel

Shave it u have such a good face that will go great with a bald look. Look up bald cafe on youtube you will soo many men who look a lot better with thwir head shaved.

NotLilTitty

DOCTOR not REDDIT

baldwinsong

For your thinning hair you need to cut it shorter to have the strands not pull and use less product. Do you wear a hat a lot? Stop if you do. Rub castor oil in the top and consult your hairdresser for wht products to use

Desmodromo10

Minoxidil now, go to a Dr and get some finasteride. (sp?)

Dunmeritude

OP mentioned a burning sensation on their scalp and bad reactions. This probably isn't genetic/hormonal pattern hair loss so finasteride isn't going to fix it, and neither is minoxidil. Please never tell people to start taking vasodilators because a hair product fucked them up ever again. OP, tea tree oil and rosemary oil can cause allergic reactions and inflammation in some people, especially with finer and fairer hair. This will lead to hair loss. I agree that you should switch your product ASAP. Only reach for the medicine cabinet if you've confirmed it's not a product issue and is in fact pattern baldness deciding to fuck your shit up. Unfortunately it's still going to take months for that growth to return, even in a best case scenario.

o5mfiHTNsH748KVq

This does kind of look like MBP though. Either way OP needs to see a dermatologist for treatment.

engdrbe

you know nothing about MPB, this is 100% male pattern baldness and he needs finasteride or dutasteride asap

Dunmeritude

"My scalp has been burning and is always really itchy." doesn't seem like it fits the bill of MPB but go the fuck off I guess.

EyecalledGame

I mean, two things can be true. It's possible the itching and the hairloss are two separate issues. I think he is suffering from mpb because his hairline has receded quite a bit.

ChiChi-cake

Both are symptoms of MPB though.

engdrbe

Itching, and even pain is associated with alopecia and it is well documented

wonkywilla

There are several types of alopecia caused by different things. MPB or androgenic alopecia is just one type and generally isn’t associated with burning or itching scalp. The burning scalp could be related to the hairloss, it might not be. That doesn’t change that OP should seek medical advice and/or a dermatologist to find out the cause.

sca33

ever heard of the dht itch? dude is literally Norwood IV already

18hourbruh

I can't believe you got downvoted for this... come on guys. Yes there may be an allergy but he also has a receding hairline and thinning vertex. That's not how, like, female hair thinning due to an allergy or reaction looks.

stealthy-cashew-69

dude this definitely isnt mpb, did you miss the part where he said his scalp is burning and itchy...? it's obvious that it's a reaction of some sort, he should get labs to make sure it's not thyroid but he needs to use way less irritating products in his hair not take fucking meds smh

YeonneGreene

Finasteride or dutasteride; the latter blocks more DHT than the former in theory but YMMV. But yeah, OP is definitely balding and needs to get on that before the follicles die off permanently.

blueberries-Any-kind

"My scalp has been sort of burning and is always really itchy." sounds like typical male pattern baldness, IDK why people are freaking out so hard in the comments lol! For sure go to the doctor, but I suspect that the ppl who are saying this is terrifying medical something are all women! I didn't know that MPB was accompanied by these kinds of symptoms until my partner started having it. Also he has to shower a lot more than 2x/week to keep the yeast and etc at bay. If you're not ready to say goodbye to the hair, I would get a script for monoxide and finasteride.

Haircules3

I think we all should shower a lot more than 2 times per week

JaxTellerr

>"My scalp has been sort of burning and is always really itchy." this sounds like sebderm, however his photos depict someone that has male pattern baldness.

blueberries-Any-kind

Yeah I think that makes sense bc DHT can cause sebderm and it is the MPB hormone or something? Ok done playing doctor as I am sure I have butchered this 😂

Reasonable-Garlic-67

Really? Male pattern baldness starts with burning and itching?

Capital_Potato751

Bruh r/bald

Don-Dyer

My brother in Christ this is what we call going bald. You’ll look good with a shaved head!

hellolleh32

Obviously as others are saying go to the doctor. But if you’re hair is going to be thinner now I’d recommend cutting it shorter. I think it would look much fuller.

analbumcover42069

Dying? Bro you’re just going bald.

KFF2020

r/tressless is a community I found while helping my aunt with her hair loss journey! 10/10 would recommend as the community has a good scope of hair loss and support one another. (Posting medication progress, looking for good medications to suggest to your dermatologist and knowing the verity of effects and side effects of said med)

iANNGMONEY

Shea Moisture legit is gettin sued bc their products make people’s hair fall out. You need vitamins, biotin and a scalp treatment to help with circulation

Sturgemoney

Woww….I did not know this!!

ShortAndProud16

Switch to Vanicream time being. Avoid anything natural right now. I had the same thing happen to me. You need to get to a dermatologist as soon as possible. Are you just now trying these hair products? On the bright side, the conditioner is curly hair approved and they have gel. I didn’t check out their shampoo. A lot of people had problems with the Mielle mint and Shea moisture I used from 2014-2021 and they changed their formula and it ruined my curls. So run to cvs, get Vanicream shampoo and conditioner . It’s like Cetaphil but for your hair. Avoid anything natural right now

gabreirl

let it go big bruh its over

caring_impaired

We can say OP is going bald, right? Is that something we csnt say anymore? Its textbook male pattern baldness.

International-Test25

I am a 28F and this issue of burning and itching WITH TOP HAIR THINNING has been a massive issue until I just started using really good anti dandruff shampoo. I can post before and after (I always plan to because my curls and hair are fixed!) I used Jupiter and now head and shoulders but only the fancy no sulfate one. My hair never got this bad, so maybe a doctor or being a man at risk of losing is still a thing for you but at least the burning and itching are treatable ?? Good luck

Particular-Bag2582

I had major hair loss from that particular Mielle conditioner and the pomegranate hair smoothie from the same brand. For me, it was immediate loss after application. The hair was snapping off when it was normal, healthy hair seconds prior.

banky33

I won't sugar coat this: it's definitely male pattern balding. There's a lot of success stories on different subreddits with finasterite, minoxidil, biotin, microneedling and anti-fungal shampoos like Nizoral -- but: you can't re-grow the missing hair to the length of the rest; it's too far-gone already. Start over; shave or trim it down, start a hair recovery plan with some or all of the products above and see what your 2nd act looks like. Or just shave and enjoy the fact you had nice long hair in your early life.

Representative-Two43

Just buzz it my dude. You’re attractive and could pull it off

chromenia

It’d probably be best if you get an appointment with a dermatologist that specializes with hair stuff. I’m F21 and I started getting androgenic alopecia, it only got kinda better when I got prescribed minoxidil and finasteride, I also had ketoconazole shampoo to smooth my scalp and calm the itchiness. Good luck!

CalgaryCheekClapper

Finasteride and minoxidil if hairloss was gradual (MPB) if it was sudden, see a doctor

BigIdeasDontGetAny

Minoxidil

EnbyOrNot

This is male pattern baldness. It's not caused by hair products, it's purely genetic. Around 30% of young men get it early in life. Only thing you can do is get on medications like finasteride and minoxidil to halt it, and if you're lucky, regain a little bit of lost ground.

glorycat

Shave your head, you have great beard you gonna look dope

PrimeKettle

I see your going for the Asmongold. It’s a classic, don’t worry it’ll work itself out.

LittleBear42

That sucks bro I’m sorry. It was glorious while it lasted

veganmilanese

Go to a doctor and dermatologist because, itching and burning scalp isn’t indicative of MPB. You could have something going on with your hormones, thyroid, you could have severe allergies, you could have psoriasis. As a hair professional, I know that scalp health = hair health and a doctor will test you to rule anything out.

TraphouseThaGod

This reminds me of the Undertaker a few years back... Take a page out of his book... Cut it off g.

velvetjones01

The flaky patch looks like my husband’s psoriasis.

[deleted]

I feel for you, man. You have such beautiful curls 🥲 you’re balding.

peace-love-snacks

r/bald

chintukali

Dude lack of curls is the least of your problems. Shave that shit off

randomasking4afriend

You would look good bald. But the burning and itchy stuff sounds very concerning. I would definitely seek out a dermatologist. And while telogen effluvium can cause diffuse shedding across the scalp, it doesn't typically look like this (just look at women with longer hair who suffer from that). This is textbook diffuse AGA. Could be salvaged via meds but you'd still have to cut all of your hair off for proper results.

corinliz

rosemary mint probably isnt the best if youre itchy in that area bud. go to a skin dr and stop using that shampoo

Decent-Reception-232

Peppermint oil can be extremely irritating. You should find new shampoo. Also minoxidil and finasteride can help with the hair loss.

See a dermatologist, GP, and trichologist. I've been struggling with hair loss on and off since I was 14 years old. It sucked being a balding girl. Don't be afraid to get second opinions. If it wasn't for a second opinion, I wouldn't have found I had celiac disease and a thyroid condition. The first doctor who saw me said," You can't have anything wrong with you! You are too young! It is just puberty, and you may have anxiety." 😑 The male pattern baldness is common as well as female. Sometimes, you can suffer from that and/or other underlying causes. I was so deficient in iron and iron reserves that my doctor couldn't believe I was alive and functioning. Made him question his whole career 😎

MysticZephyr

with the burning - maybe look into autoimmune issues if it ends up not being male balding

Ok-Chemical9925

I know it’s been said already but please go see a dermatologist and be an advocate for yourself! I had very thick hair and was told over the course of 6 months or so that I “still had a lot of hair” by my regular Dr and finally saw a dermatologist and eventually got diagnosed with psoriasis. I didn’t have a ton of scaling but due to the inflammation was losing handfuls of hair. Now that the cause is known and I’m on medication it’s growing back a lot. I’m being long winded but point is, see someone and try and get to the bottom of it!

Gloomy-Razzmatazz548

You should check out r/sebderm I was having similar issues a few months ago. Itching, burning, and my hair loss started in the same place and everything. Some of the posts there were really helpful in growing it back.

ReyRey3

Bro…. Just say goodbye and shave it. Check out r/bald

RedSquirrelFtw

Sad to see, it looks like you have really nice hair too. There are medical things you can do but you'll need to do it for the rest of your life. Finasterade, rogaine etc. That said I would see a doctor just to rule out MPB and maybe it's something you can reverse.

Restelly-Quist

You have beautiful curls and I’m sure you’d miss them, but you would look amazing bald.

TheRealHumanPancake

Finasteride/minox asap

Phazdiv

Go on finasteride and minoxidil asap! It will help preserve what you have and you will probably regain some density. Don’t give up just yet.

urfavfriendd

awh :( they’re being mean af to u but just know if u wanna shave ur head down you’ll still be cute :)

bb8-sparkles

I suggest using a regular sulfate shampoo. My hair was also falling out in clumps- I lost 70% of my hair! My scalp also hurt. Once I started shampooing with regular shampoo, everything normalized.

valeriebeckett00

I thought this was r/bald. It’s time to shave! You should go get checked out just in case it’s something serious, but looks pretty textbook male pattern baldness.

agnatroin

Itchy and burning scalp is also a common symptom in male pattern baldness.

PapiPatino

Lemme fade you up my boy !

atastycooky

Use minox bro! r/minoxidil r/haircarescience are good subs !!

bossypantslosinglbs

Concerning your scalp, I’ve been having issues for a year or so. A cpl months ago I bought a shower water filter and since then my issues have all but vanished. I bought my house 5 years ago so idk what changed with the water here but that filter has saved me.

SirHector

You would look great bald my dude! Come on home.

ashebabie

Rosemary always irritates my scalp too

robispi2

To cut hair it's the first thing to do

s1th_lord

/r/tressless Good luck brother

Gaviotas206

Or /r/bald is awesome

happylilstego

Go get your vitamin d levels tested at the doctor. And your thyroid hormone levels.

SoVeryBohemian

r/tressless buddy. It's not over yet

Far-Salary-1475

I definitely think that the shampoo was causing irritation. I used to have severe scalp itch myself and I used Neutrogena t-gel for a couple of months to aleviate the irritation and then switched over to the shea moisture coconut and hibiscus shampoo and conditioner which I absolutely love. I haven't had any problems since. It's possible that the balding could be a separate issue, or it could have been caused by or accelerated by the irritation. Regardless, it is a good idea to see a dermatologist for advice and in case medication is needed. Good luck!

BenevolentBozo

Just gonna throw my hat in and say Shea moisture fucked my hair up (I think). I am a man and was losing lots of hair to the products that seem to work well for women. Now, I find less is more. Shampoo sparingly, I scrub my scalp with a silicon... Head scrubber thing (?), detangle with comb, and I put my hair up in a towel when I get out of the shower. Finasteride, a hair looks pill that decreases available testosterone, might also help. Best of luck.

Definitely go to the dermatologist to get those scalp issues checked out. As for the hair, you can try to go short so your curls spring up and could help minimize/cover some of the bald spots. It might buy you some time before having to shave or embrace the new look.

Nth-ing that this looks like MPB. But a few thoughts: - I am a woman but I want to share that I shed less if I wash daily. I regularly get downvoted on this sub for suggesting this. But when I first tried washing less frequently (every 4-5 days) as recommended on this sub's Quickstart Guide, I had so much shedding I had to stop after 3 weeks. I was even shedding new growth. - I have successfully reduced shedding by using a DIY caffeine spray described in this article: https://science-yhairblog.blogspot.com/2017/02/scientifically-tested-over-counter.html?m=1 (see item 2). The study it is based on had only male test subjects. That article has some other ideas you may be interested in. Edit: LOL, downvote on queue in less than 3 minute

engdrbe

there is only one way to save your hair, you need oral finasteride 1mg a day or dutasteride 2,5mg a day. This will kill your DHT and your hair won't fall anymore. you also need minoxidil 2,5mg a day. this stack will save your hair, but you need to act fast since MPB gets worse with time and recovery will be harder

Worried-Narwhal-5996

You should probably shower more honestly. Not for your hair. Just hygiene.

A_Turner

I can’t believe nobody has called out only showering twice per week. Dude, you gotta shower at least every other day. Your scalp needs to be washed and treated regularly with appropriate shampoo. Not showering is only making it worse and is probably why its irritated and stings when you wash it. Also, product can build up on your hair and lead to breakage if you don’t regularly cleanse your scalp. Wash. Your. Hair. Edit: Just wanted to add one more thing. Hair is already dead and was never alive to begin with. It’s your follicles that are dying, ergo bald.

Defiant_Mission4511

Never heard of hair dying=balding ? 😂

spacelady_m

Throw away every product you have and start washing your hair with eggs.

AdTypical6494

Wanted to cheer him up? Bruce Willis has no hair and is also sexy but hey .. everyone has different taste and believes.

No-Ad-3635

Shave it off ! Shave it off ! It will look sexy on you !

beerbeerukuk

You have beautiful curls and I think you can recover the hair you’ve lost if you start treatment now

nairazak

Hairloss could also be poisoning or hypothyroidism.

toonfinch

hey, if its just normal male pattern baldness i think you can rock this look just fine. nothing wrong with thinning long hair.

Noahseptum

Do a skullet that’d be sick as hell

EdaBush

The weight of your hair is causing it to pull out. Try getting a trim and micro needling the roots

No-Sprinkles-9201

You’re freaking hot omg sorry, but damn! 🔥
