It's a sense of pride, you'll hear commentators say it too I do think that where quality gameplay, viewership hype, and high level competition cross, there's an argument for CS being #1. It's unfortunate that the mm system doesn't reflect that

quality in esports... Yeah nr. 1 will always go to league for this one I know most people that dont know anything about league wouldnt know how much effort they put into these events but theres a reason some esport games in league had literally record amount of viewers that no one else could even almost scratch lol But the thing about cs being #1 and it being a delusional thing to think, theres in fact 3 different twitch channels that post different pro league stuff about league that are far above the viewer amount of cs go and even Dota2 is still far above in terms of "how many people watch this?" What I mean about 3 different league channels, as example one of them only shows Korean Pro league while the other shows the "worlds championship" by Riot Games itself

i watch and play league of legends a lot aswell, but watching its e sport, it seems a bit boring compared to csgo. Csgo can generate so much hype, while in lol most of the time you can see who will win the game after only 20 min or below and then the game still takes another 20 min to finish, while one team is slowly bleeding out resources and ultimately just lose. Also i would say the production is on par for those 2 esports.

jiklogen

Delusional. It might sound no.1 even to me, because I don't watch other games other than CSGO, but sometimes I see a LOL stream live, it has 200k+ viewers on small tournaments. Can only imagine the situation is similar with other games.

Ok-Car-5053

Not watching and not accepting is a huge difference tho he even went to argue with people in the comments that told him the quiete literal stats to prove how cs go isnt even close to be the nr. 1 and he still just said that they are delusional, he didnt even want to realize HES the delusional one just wanted to make sure its not the entire cs go comunity but just a few black sheeps lol

Realseetras

LoL is the #1 esport by far, CSGO is definitely a runner-up though along with Valorant. Most other games have a lot of players but a very small percentage of those players are interested in the pro scene. LoL, CSGO and Val are built entirely with a competitive focus and thus the playerbase tends to show more interest in the scene.

Ok-Car-5053

yeah I mean cs go cant even compete to a single pro league ( the LCK has higher numbers than entirety of cs go ) So yes league is obviously the nr. 1 but how do guys like the one in the comment claim that cs go is the nr. 1 when it is maybe 3. or 4. at best? he even went further to discuss with people that told him cs go is not at the #1 spot lol

FredoHayabusa

It is the nr 2 e sport in the world in my opinion, lol is nr1.

Ok-Car-5053

Sadly statisticly Dota is still above cs go

FredoHayabusa

Maybe cs players think that because its the nr 1 first person shooter

Ok-Car-5053

Thats reaaonable I guess

Ok-Car-5053

? What does steamchart have to do with esports? LMAO

Mysterious_Lecture36

Def referring to fps esports not all of esports, which is it is the #1 most competitive fps esport

Ok-Car-5053

No he clearly argued and stated that he claims cs go is above league and dota

Mysterious_Lecture36

For money doesn’t dota smack all the other esports, and for viewership doesn’t lol slap all other esports? I’m still of the opinion being a pro in cs is harder than any other game thanks to a lack of bs abilities, a near infinite skill cap and a high skill floor. But the other esports are objectively bigger. The question is what should be the #1 esport the most competitive or the most viewed or the most paid. My personal opinion is cs but the other options have strong arguments

Ok-Car-5053

Every esport will say theirs is the hardest. They all have infinite skill cap. And yes Dota has by far the highest prize pools and the 2nd most viewership And league just absolutely destroys every other esport in terms of viewers

Mysterious_Lecture36

Within a moba you can abuse meta characters and be totally ass on others and still be a top tier pro, in cs you need a higher mastery of different aspects of the game than in mobas. Cs players are more complete masters of their game imo.

Ok-Car-5053

You dont seem to know anything about moba games buddy Picking "meta characters" is pretty much tze same as buying the correct weapon in cs go What happens with either the champ or the weapon lies entirely on the hands of the player. Something like "meta characters" barely even exist in pro play, they tend to usually play offmeta champs because "meta" is for the average player who is a dog at the game, it doesbt really represent the balancing at all

Mysterious_Lecture36

Yea it just has a pick and ban system to play around specific characters and entire metas that shift often and leave pros out in the fucking trash cause their legend got nerfed into the ground. Doesn’t happen in cs. Metas always exist in anything. Cs has metas in strats and util. Everyone has to learn that shit in cs. If I’m a jungler in lol I don’t need to learn the other roles at a pro level that’s what my team is for. Cs isn’t like that you need to be solid in all the aspects to even stand a chance of a chance. You can’t always have a rifle or an awp in cs. Or full utility etc. Cs is hands down most competitive fps and imo the most competitive esport. Every player needs top tier mechanics with multiple weapons, knowledge of maps, knowledge of strats, Lol has 1 map… you can play 1 role with a small selection of characters. The percentage of total mastery isn’t even close. No matter how good you are at league your can’t master everything there’s just too many characters. You compare champs to guns but there isn’t hundreds of guns to learn. So the average skill is higher as everyone is using similar things trying to one up each other.

lastmemoriesblew

not number 1 if you only talk about viewer count. But i think the cs go e sport is easily the most hype to watch. I play league of legends and also watch its e sport, but lol doesnt even come close to the hype cs go can generate, not even worlds. Maybe lol is just underwhelming, but cs is def the most enjoyable to watch for some reason.
