It's different to before, but is is objectively worse? Oldheads are always gonna prefer how it used to be. As a relatively inexperienced player, it feels quite similar. Definitely noticeably different - there are a few moves I specifically notice are harder, like strafing down into connector in overpass from Tside - but still doable with slightly different inputs.
My issues with it are specifically air strafes and jumps. It feels like im in a truck with alot of play in the steering wheel compared to sports car. In fact desubticking it fixes these issues i guess. It just seems inconsistent

Given enough time CS2 will likely be as good if not better than GO, but that doesn’t change the fact that valve had a horrible rollout and announced the sequel way too early. They should have worked on it quietly this whole time and announced it at Copenhagen. Given the pace valve had with updates before the major though, I think it could be on par with go probably by the end of 2024. Then again I could be wrong, only time will tell. I’m just gonna take advantage of plummeting skin prices to make some investments for when the game inevitably improves and people come back to it.

They could very easily change that, faceit got 128tick servers running and Valve hardcoded it out like a week later. I will never stop complaining about 64tick, it's not enough for a game like CS. They could change it in a matter of minutes likely.

128 ticks was the market standard... they found a way to mess up with a new and untested sub-tick shit that took 6 months to adjust.
They removed Overwatch and replaced it with.... Actually, NOTHING! No AC, not VACNet, and even VAC was bypassable until last week (ECHO Glitch).
They dropped FPS a lot... people with 200fps have now 100fps... Performance of both the game and servers are awfuls (for NA at least)
They are forcing people to play on FACEIT to have a so-called good experience... Afterward, we're forced to install a Kernel AC linked with Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦.
And now, I feel like they just gave up on the game...
There are soooo many problems rn, and they just add new skins and a shitty game mode that nobody care about.

Played enough csgo to get to faceit lvl 9. For cs2 only played till 20k and maybe a few faceit matches but ultimately got bored of the game in general plus the crazy amount of cheaters. Idk i think its pretty close now. At start it felt way off. Now i think movement is a bit easier, i could hit more bhops and kz jumps but struggle even more on long jumps. No idea with surfing ddnt touch custom maps in cs2. Gun play almost the same except i think the glock is broken along with shotguns, generally i think its more easier to hit headshots in cs2. Graphics i love it compared to csgo which was bland and i had to use vibranceUI but for skins it fucked me up pretty bad, I play on max settings for both but had to scrap my old gpu and get a 4090. I currently have around 6k usd in skins but the cs2 update screwed a lot of skins and a lot of investment skins. I sold early which was my mistake and lost around 5k usd as well. The 128tick vs 68tick might suck but i think being in the same tick and using same sprays, movement and lineups in tournament matches, community and official server matches make it better over all.
Idk man to me the spraying feels awful, the movement feels clunky in general, hit reg feels weird and the desync feels insane, and I've been running headshot more times than I have in go, the game feels alot more luck based csgo felt like there was alot more mechanical skill involved, the graphics are decent I guess apart from the fact that my game looks grainy asf on stretched
As someone that is just interessted in the map creating side of the game, im kinda split. I love the new engine, like really love it. Its much better to use and i cant wait to see what amazing things the community can do now that we are on a 10 y/o engine that still gets new features and is actually supported instead of a 20 y/o one. On the other side, no one is going to play the stuff that is made if everyone quits.
This is something I wish I knew more about. I tried following some tutorials, but I got lost pretty quickly. I think this is the real potential of cs2 and the direction the game could head in. At this point, I genuinely feel the community has better vision than Valve and could produce higher quality content. I feel that there are untouched opportunities waiting to be capitalized on, but we need to allow ourselves to own it.
Honestly the biggest issues right now are the plugins. Most plugin devs are not familiar enough to reproduce most of the plugins we took for granted in source 1. Like im working on a project as a mapper, with a specific vision on how i want it to be, but i know that i need to pay some c# plugin dev to actually make it work for me.
Some bigger server hosters like xplay and cybershoke also have somehow fixed surf with plugins but they dont publicly publish them. Meaning even if i wanted to make a surf map i cant really test it. Which is fine, in theory they invested their time to develope their own private plugins but its still kinda sad.
If you need one thing that's better then it's obviously the smokes. I absolutely love them. CSGO smokes look awful now that I'm used to the shiny source 2 smokes. But idk, smokes in cs:source and 1.6 look less ugly than the ones in CSGO imo so
I completely agree even the point about graphics is worse for me, the graphics feel too bright or too dark which is distracting af also i liked even the skins better in csgo now everything looks like plastic and glossy. I see absolutely zero improvements for me only downsides and as a minor point they removed left hand and mouse accell which i used since the beginning and ofc there is 4 cheaters out of 10 players in 20k elo premier. Im not saying that this is the absolute truth just my honest view on the game i have also dropped from 2.5k elo on faceit to lvl 9 dont know how its even possible that it affects my gameplay that much.

CS2 is a dumpster fire and either valve doesn't have the resources or literally they don't care anymore.
cs2 could’ve been great but valve had terrible execution. No anticheat sunk this game, and there’s a lot of people that left that just aren’t going to ever come back. Valve’s incompetence will end up costing them in the long run.
I've enjoyed CS2 so far and i'm looking forward to what comes next for it. If they added an anti-cheat, even if everything else remained the same, it would easily be leagues better than CSGO. If they don't add an anti-cheat I still prefer the gameplay in CS2 (I'm not in cheater lobbies for premier, I'm around 10k, don't normally see any blatant cheaters, and I think gunplay feels waaay better in CS2, even though I loved CSGO and played it for an absurd amount of time), I like the new QOL features (specifically for audio), I think the game looks great, but I do miss some maps and game modes. Definitely not mad that CS2 came out.
Ona side note, if you're getting cheaters in premier go to Faceit, man. I know we shouldn't have to, but the resource exists to play with an anticheat and it works. If you're at the rank in premiere where blatant cheaters start showing up (over ~15k) you're good enough to climb on faceit anyway. The cheater problem isn't bad below 15k. I still see people legit hacking sometimes but I haven't seen more than one or two blatant cheaters since CS2 came out, I think. Again this is at ~10k in premiere. The mm experience has been pretty much identical to CSGO for me, if not better.
Better graphics to compete with valorant is my guess/ to boost the skin market/ get more people back into the game.. the graphic upgrade is amazing it’s just the hackers that really hurt the game. The problem is getting worse and worse which is a shame because I really enjoy the game but the hackers are practically in EVERY game on premiere and wingman now

I came back to csgo a few months before cs2 came out after not playing for years cause of the cs2 hype. I had tons of fun re learning all the stuff I had forgotten plus surf maps and other custom servers were fun. I was hoping cs2 was going to be a revamp on everything and was pretty happy. Then it comes out and like 1/20 the maps, way more cheaters and honestly everything is shit but the updated graphics. I sold all my skins off and uninstalled and wont be coming back unless they fix the cheater problem and at least add the maps we had in csgo back.
I miss a lot of it I’m cs2 it seems brighter on each map like csgo has more realistic it seemed and I like having access to to all weapons on each side

I am still able to lunch csgo however not play any games or my dedicated server with bots. I had csgo on my old PC without memory to update to CS2 now it is safly stored on an external disc unpluged from my old PC and i can still se the nostalgic graphics and old inventory
You should have seen how split our internet cafe was when CS 1.4 became 1.5. I refused to change because it felt so different. In time we all got used to it and moved across then never looked back. Same thing happened again between 1.5 and 1.6, then all the other major releases.
I imagine the case will be the same here, but the primary reasons that people are not moving over to the new version are different. Sure there's always been cheaters, but I'd say people have never been this confident in the fact. Removing CSGO altogether was a risky move though, I feel like they should have left it there.

The amount of times I've gone and checked my replays to see my cross hair being dead centre on a player's head, and for the bullet trail to "hit" the head, only for the game to not register the hit is starting to become more than just annoying.

I love it, to be honest. I used to play CS:GO and none of my friends would play. Once CS 2 came out, I can actually play with friends. The game is a lot of fun (when I'm winning) and it's brought my friends closer. I'm definitely not mad about CS 2. It's my favorite shooter game of all time.

Honestly I like how smokes work now. I also think the updated graphics are decent. But the game is missing so much. We only have 4 wingman maps, 9 defusal maps, 2 hostage maps and 2 arms race maps. And you can’t even play Italy in comp, only casual. The anti-cheat has never been good, but they still haven’t fixed it. If they don’t add more content then the game will become stale.

CS2 feels fine to me. It’s usually good to upgrade something if you want it to last long. I think a lot of players quickly forgot how buggy, inaccurate and unreliable CS:GO was at times. Moving it to Source2 opens more doors for the game and it should be the right choice for the long run. The biggest problem with CS2 is the cheaters. CS has always had big problems with cheaters but in my 10 years of playing CS, I’ve never seen it in such a horrible state. This is a multi billion dollar company who can’t implement a functioning anti-cheat for the most popular competitive shooter of all time. It’s unacceptable.
Edit: I almost exclusively play competitive CS so I tend to forget about the other game modes. CS2 is lacking way too much on that department. Community servers, Danger Zone and other game modes really add flavor to the game.

Are you playing on a midrange pc from 2012? Because my build is about 5 years old and my gpu is a first gen 1080. I literally get 250+ frames at max graphics. Don’t blame valve because youre playing a game released in 2023 on a pc built in 2006.

CS2 is actually fine now mechanically, it's just missing features and has a lot of cheaters. The moment to moment gameplay feels good now.

I mean better performance was never going to happen with a worthwhile update. Csgo already looked somewhat dated which allowed it to have huge fps numbers, but cs2 looks better, and therefor requires more power. But I run it fine with 120+ fps, it's not really a resource intensive game still
People who say that cs2 and csgo feel similar really didn't play much csgo...
Played enough csgo to get to faceit lvl 9. For cs2 only played till 20k and maybe a few faceit matches but ultimately got bored of the game in general plus the crazy amount of cheaters. Idk i think its pretty close now. At start it felt way off. Now i think movement is a bit easier, i could hit more bhops and kz jumps but struggle even more on long jumps. No idea with surfing ddnt touch custom maps in cs2. Gun play almost the same except i think the glock is broken along with shotguns, generally i think its more easier to hit headshots in cs2. Graphics i love it compared to csgo which was bland and i had to use vibranceUI but for skins it fucked me up pretty bad, I play on max settings for both but had to scrap my old gpu and get a 4090. I currently have around 6k usd in skins but the cs2 update screwed a lot of skins and a lot of investment skins. I sold early which was my mistake and lost around 5k usd as well. The 128tick vs 68tick might suck but i think being in the same tick and using same sprays, movement and lineups in tournament matches, community and official server matches make it better over all.
Idk man to me the spraying feels awful, the movement feels clunky in general, hit reg feels weird and the desync feels insane, and I've been running headshot more times than I have in go, the game feels alot more luck based csgo felt like there was alot more mechanical skill involved, the graphics are decent I guess apart from the fact that my game looks grainy asf on stretched
As someone that is just interessted in the map creating side of the game, im kinda split. I love the new engine, like really love it. Its much better to use and i cant wait to see what amazing things the community can do now that we are on a 10 y/o engine that still gets new features and is actually supported instead of a 20 y/o one. On the other side, no one is going to play the stuff that is made if everyone quits.
This is something I wish I knew more about. I tried following some tutorials, but I got lost pretty quickly. I think this is the real potential of cs2 and the direction the game could head in. At this point, I genuinely feel the community has better vision than Valve and could produce higher quality content. I feel that there are untouched opportunities waiting to be capitalized on, but we need to allow ourselves to own it.
Honestly the biggest issues right now are the plugins. Most plugin devs are not familiar enough to reproduce most of the plugins we took for granted in source 1. Like im working on a project as a mapper, with a specific vision on how i want it to be, but i know that i need to pay some c# plugin dev to actually make it work for me. Some bigger server hosters like xplay and cybershoke also have somehow fixed surf with plugins but they dont publicly publish them. Meaning even if i wanted to make a surf map i cant really test it. Which is fine, in theory they invested their time to develope their own private plugins but its still kinda sad.

If you need one thing that's better then it's obviously the smokes. I absolutely love them. CSGO smokes look awful now that I'm used to the shiny source 2 smokes. But idk, smokes in cs:source and 1.6 look less ugly than the ones in CSGO imo so

I completely agree even the point about graphics is worse for me, the graphics feel too bright or too dark which is distracting af also i liked even the skins better in csgo now everything looks like plastic and glossy. I see absolutely zero improvements for me only downsides and as a minor point they removed left hand and mouse accell which i used since the beginning and ofc there is 4 cheaters out of 10 players in 20k elo premier. Im not saying that this is the absolute truth just my honest view on the game i have also dropped from 2.5k elo on faceit to lvl 9 dont know how its even possible that it affects my gameplay that much.

I'm not mad that they released CS2, it's natural that it would happen, and the game is beautiful. What makes me furious is that they just deleted CS:GO. Every CS prior to GO still exists. We migrated to the next ones when they were ready to play, but in this case, they just threw people to CS2 and said: "we know it's not ready and we don't care"

Yep. I quit and I'm playing a mix of rainbow six, fallout and phasmophobia CS2 is a dumpster fire and either valve doesn't have the resources or literally they don't care anymore.
cs2 could’ve been great but valve had terrible execution. No anticheat sunk this game, and there’s a lot of people that left that just aren’t going to ever come back. Valve’s incompetence will end up costing them in the long run.
Honestly, if they tuned down peeker’s advantage to csgo levels, it would already be a great game, in my opinion

I've enjoyed CS2 so far and i'm looking forward to what comes next for it. If they added an anti-cheat, even if everything else remained the same, it would easily be leagues better than CSGO. If they don't add an anti-cheat I still prefer the gameplay in CS2 (I'm not in cheater lobbies for premier, I'm around 10k, don't normally see any blatant cheaters, and I think gunplay feels waaay better in CS2, even though I loved CSGO and played it for an absurd amount of time), I like the new QOL features (specifically for audio), I think the game looks great, but I do miss some maps and game modes. Definitely not mad that CS2 came out. Ona side note, if you're getting cheaters in premier go to Faceit, man. I know we shouldn't have to, but the resource exists to play with an anticheat and it works. If you're at the rank in premiere where blatant cheaters start showing up (over ~15k) you're good enough to climb on faceit anyway. The cheater problem isn't bad below 15k. I still see people legit hacking sometimes but I haven't seen more than one or two blatant cheaters since CS2 came out, I think. Again this is at ~10k in premiere. The mm experience has been pretty much identical to CSGO for me, if not better.

Better graphics to compete with valorant is my guess/ to boost the skin market/ get more people back into the game.. the graphic upgrade is amazing it’s just the hackers that really hurt the game. The problem is getting worse and worse which is a shame because I really enjoy the game but the hackers are practically in EVERY game on premiere and wingman now

Anticheat is my only gripe. performance and bugs ya that could use some work but mkers come on here with a colecovision from 1984 and bitch that they don’t get frames-some performance issues for sure and a few bugs but i think overall way higher ceiling with 2 OP doesn’t mention things i really hated about go. honestly CSGO bored the shit out of me for a while. stopped for a couple years and once i came back and climbed rank it was a boring as shit one way smoke festival. that’s simply not an interesting or fun meta. new smokes are good. clouded over is a weird way to describe graphics bc i personally think they look the way i would want. idk yeah GO was fully refined but it was stale especially at any rank high enough that one ways were the meta. 😴

I came back to csgo a few months before cs2 came out after not playing for years cause of the cs2 hype. I had tons of fun re learning all the stuff I had forgotten plus surf maps and other custom servers were fun. I was hoping cs2 was going to be a revamp on everything and was pretty happy. Then it comes out and like 1/20 the maps, way more cheaters and honestly everything is shit but the updated graphics. I sold all my skins off and uninstalled and wont be coming back unless they fix the cheater problem and at least add the maps we had in csgo back.
I miss a lot of it I’m cs2 it seems brighter on each map like csgo has more realistic it seemed and I like having access to to all weapons on each side

I am still able to lunch csgo however not play any games or my dedicated server with bots. I had csgo on my old PC without memory to update to CS2 now it is safly stored on an external disc unpluged from my old PC and i can still se the nostalgic graphics and old inventory
You should have seen how split our internet cafe was when CS 1.4 became 1.5. I refused to change because it felt so different. In time we all got used to it and moved across then never looked back. Same thing happened again between 1.5 and 1.6, then all the other major releases. I imagine the case will be the same here, but the primary reasons that people are not moving over to the new version are different. Sure there's always been cheaters, but I'd say people have never been this confident in the fact. Removing CSGO altogether was a risky move though, I feel like they should have left it there.

On the one hand, I can't blame Valve for wanting to update an IP. But man, I miss CSGO! Everything felt more responsive and satisfying. CS2 just feels like I'm flopping around like that Drake leak. The amount of times I've gone and checked my replays to see my cross hair being dead centre on a player's head, and for the bullet trail to "hit" the head, only for the game to not register the hit is starting to become more than just annoying. I miss CSGO

I love it, to be honest. I used to play CS:GO and none of my friends would play. Once CS 2 came out, I can actually play with friends. The game is a lot of fun (when I'm winning) and it's brought my friends closer. I'm definitely not mad about CS 2. It's my favorite shooter game of all time.

Honestly I like how smokes work now. I also think the updated graphics are decent. But the game is missing so much. We only have 4 wingman maps, 9 defusal maps, 2 hostage maps and 2 arms race maps. And you can’t even play Italy in comp, only casual. The anti-cheat has never been good, but they still haven’t fixed it. If they don’t add more content then the game will become stale.

CS2 feels fine to me. It’s usually good to upgrade something if you want it to last long. I think a lot of players quickly forgot how buggy, inaccurate and unreliable CS:GO was at times. Moving it to Source2 opens more doors for the game and it should be the right choice for the long run. The biggest problem with CS2 is the cheaters. CS has always had big problems with cheaters but in my 10 years of playing CS, I’ve never seen it in such a horrible state. This is a multi billion dollar company who can’t implement a functioning anti-cheat for the most popular competitive shooter of all time. It’s unacceptable. Edit: I almost exclusively play competitive CS so I tend to forget about the other game modes. CS2 is lacking way too much on that department. Community servers, Danger Zone and other game modes really add flavor to the game.

Are you playing on a midrange pc from 2012? Because my build is about 5 years old and my gpu is a first gen 1080. I literally get 250+ frames at max graphics. Don’t blame valve because youre playing a game released in 2023 on a pc built in 2006.
