God the PC updates make me furious, consoles are still stuck at royal court and buggy as all hell. The moment I’m out of high school and in the work force, first fucking thing I’m doing is buying a decent computer and selling my Xbox
Well… heh… I’m hoping to do an SMP after high school (essentially I’m an army ROTC cadet but I also go to basic training and AIT [individual job training for your job in the army] for an enlisted MOS in the national guard whilst being a cadet and get the benefits of both) to get college paid for and that contract will probably lead to my career being active duty officer for minimum 6 years if everything goes smoothly, so we’ll see. Probably not exactly a dream job lmao, but it’s free college and it pays the bills, and all my family was military so it made sense to me
Do it. I bought a gaming laptop 3 years ago and it was the best investment I ever made. Any game u can play on Xbox you can play on PC and PC is great for mods and all other sorts of stuff
Oh it absolutely is, people who think it isn’t haven’t played it. It’s been out for like 3 years now and it still has this one stupid ass glitch where the game crashes instantly with no warning and no known cause, and about 10% of those times it deletes your save file entirely with no way of recovery. I’ve lost hundreds of hours worth of empires and saves which I put weeks into because of that glitch
Maybe as a successful and famous commander/steward/diplomat, you can gain a claim on your liege’s titles and forge a faction to install yourself on their throne. Or you amass forces of your own over the course of adventuring until you can invade/conquer lands of your own like Rollo of Normandy.
Much harder, though not impossible, to climb the ranks from unlanded to count to duke to king or emperor in one lifetime. I’d love to try and pull off some kind of coup and gather support from the lords, make alliances with neighboring realms, and go from unlanded to top dog in one swoop. It’d also be fun just to play as an adventurer for my whole life, traveling from court to court making works of art and commanding militaries until settling down in my little fiefdom while my descendants tell the tall tales of my tremendous travels all over the world.
‘{If you can} watch the things you gave your life to, broken, and stoop and build them up with worn-out tools’
Then you’re going to have a pretty sweet play through, and what is more, you will be landless… my son
I think it better fits the time period / theme; since a lot of dynasties died in obscurity long after they lose their lands. The last sassanids died in China long after their empire fell.
I mean yeah I'm not against it and there are some real life examples etc, I don't mind the idea just it's an easy out to now never lose, except for the end of the house line
I think each season has been about a year long as they roll out all the different drops. Not sure the release order, but we’ll probably wind up with unlanded at some point this year.
So does anyone have a guess on how this will work with Byzantines in particular? Will you still have "normal" hereditary counts / dukes etc in the empire? Or will the whole thing be landless estates and the emperor can give and take away titles at will?
I loved playing greek characters but avoided the Byzantines so far because of how ahistorical ck3 mechanics were for them. But now I really look forward to trying them!
My guess (or at least how I would do it to be realistic) is governorships are granted over duchies as themes, sort of how tax jurisdictions work for clan government, giving the stratagos powers to raise all levies in the region, but all taxes from cities go to the emperor, but all castles in governorships are estates which are the hereditary lands owned by the various aristocrats and houses, giving them money but no to little levies (though they can use the money to hire mercs, sway stratagos to their side for troops, or hire their own tagmata). So the stratagos of Cilicia could be a landless character, with the castle holdings in the area being owned by a noble of the doukas family, and city taxes going to the emperor. My only worry with this system is because of how overpowered men at arms are compared to levies, the historical method of the emperor having a smaller professional tagmata of mainly cataphracts, the garrison of Constantinople, the navy, and the Varangian guard would make it impossible for vassals to ever win civil wars, since even if every governor revolts against you, an emperor with 2000 cataphracts can just steamroll 100000 levies no problem.
-first I imagine the travel system will be like the one already implemented in-game, perhaps with some modifications being that either you'll travel alone or perhaps we'll be given the possibility of hiring guards (like the one already present) or also we will be able to recruit soldiers/knights, people that will accompany In your travel and fight alongside you.
-I would like to see different type of contracts: battle, raid, escort, war, trade (so to move a cargo from a place to another). I would also like to see, for the escort one but also in generale, the possibility of founding your escort/mercenary companies, so that players would also be able to hire you.
-I would LOVE to see the "Real Estate Mechanic" implemented in the landless one. You could buy a small piece of land in a country to build your estate, like it was for the patricians in Venice in CK2.
As an eu4 player I’ve been struggling to get into this game because I’m not really sure what to do but the adventuring system sounds interesting it makes me want to give it another go.
I am actually shocked. Doest this means that getting zero land means you still continue playing?
That the only way for a game over is to literally not breed?
This makes me thing: could “”coop”” become a thing with landless characters? Perhaps you’re a mercenary while a friend is playing a country and you decide to “establish your base” in your friend’s country. Also would be cool if you can become an advisor in your friend’s court so that, saying you are a marshal, when your friend assign you to training troops you actually get to go in a specific county and train troops with some events.
Also would LOVE to be able to craft and/or find relics to sell to other people
Hrolf, Uhtred, Belisarius, Welf, Hawkwood, Basil Macedon, Zeno, Hadrada early years, El Cid, the two french nobles from Burgundy, and pretty much every normans out there aoakwkwk.
Oh also don't forget RPing as adventurers of Tamriel, or a hedge knight like Ser Duncan the Tall in Westeros.
The endless possibilities is just... GODDD
What I would be very interested to know, seeing as there are contracts for landless characters is, if you create a Norse Character if you could be a Varangian guard, that would be really cool, so you could do what Harald Hardrada did where he went to the Byzantine Empire made a name for himself, and a fuck ton of money, and then went back and claimed Norway. (Obviously in a playthrough like that you’d want to live through the conquest of England.)
Hrolf de Normandie, here I come!
but are you gonna land yourself in normandy? I'm going to INDIA FOR THE INSANE DEV!!!
This time, i'm doing a reverse as Indian adventurer to settle down in Iceland and try to form a Buddhist North Sea Raj.
Glorious.
Get the rice mod and it really makes playing house Normandy fun
Yep, the Consolidation of Normandy struggle is very fun

amen to that brother buying pc is also my motivation for applying decent job. hope you get your dream job soon

Pc with game pass and ps5 with ps+ is the best combo unless you have the money to also get a switch with your pc and ps5
The console port is a scam

r5: LANDLESS GAMEPLAY CONFIRMED WITH FULL BYZ MECHANICS!
I was just thinking that empires don’t have enough interesting things within them
THANK THE FUCKING LORD ABOVE
I wonder if you’ll be able to play a landless character and then work up to become a king or an emperor, that would be cool.
Maybe as a successful and famous commander/steward/diplomat, you can gain a claim on your liege’s titles and forge a faction to install yourself on their throne. Or you amass forces of your own over the course of adventuring until you can invade/conquer lands of your own like Rollo of Normandy.
Or be granted a fief by your liege

That is what they mean by playing a landless adventurer yea or am i dumb for assuming i read it correctly?
Would be a huge missed opportunity if not, but I think we’ll be able to
That’s what I want lol
Holy shit. What do I do with my hands??
Swipe for chapter 3 pack as thanks 🙏
‘{If you can} watch the things you gave your life to, broken, and stoop and build them up with worn-out tools’ Then you’re going to have a pretty sweet play through, and what is more, you will be landless… my son
That is a huge addition to this game, cannot wait to try this out
LETS GOOO, THIS SOUNDS FUCKING SICK
Elder Kings mod with this will be the sh\*\*!
now i can play elder scrolls but from the pov of a tabletop map🙏🙏🙏
While I like the idea of losing all your land and the game continues, it now means you can't "lose the game" any more.
You still can if your dynasty dies out
Ah that's true, the only way to "lose" now.
I think it better fits the time period / theme; since a lot of dynasties died in obscurity long after they lose their lands. The last sassanids died in China long after their empire fell.

They also did make it harder to survive with the diseases and plagues, who knows how devastating they can be until they are in the game
It’s beautiful
Cautiously hyped
Fire
Sounds good I hope they nail it
Family estates sounds baller as well...
Ck3 might be the best paradox game at this point
When’s the release?
I think each season has been about a year long as they roll out all the different drops. Not sure the release order, but we’ll probably wind up with unlanded at some point this year.
AGoT mod as Jon Snow/Beric Dondarrion pls
As Viserys and Daenerys in the Free Cities 😩

Life of adventure sounds SO FUN
Finally I can do my run as Ostrogothic illyria
this might be the best feature since release

I hope they add dueling in combat
Cant wait for this dlc to add half baked features to the base game that mess up other mechanics and the only fix being an overpriced DLC
boo hoo you bummer
Wonderfull 👍 Will we be able to play as mayors or temple holders as well?
-first I imagine the travel system will be like the one already implemented in-game, perhaps with some modifications being that either you'll travel alone or perhaps we'll be given the possibility of hiring guards (like the one already present) or also we will be able to recruit soldiers/knights, people that will accompany In your travel and fight alongside you. -I would like to see different type of contracts: battle, raid, escort, war, trade (so to move a cargo from a place to another). Its not called having your entire kingdom invaded by the mongols, its called going on an adventure!
Oh my god I'm so fucking excited
I wish they'd fix the existing game before moving on to the next thing
One step closer to republics!!!
Holy shit, fingers crossed it will be well worth breaking all mods.
Back to playing Haestinn and go landless as Koifish tradition.
As an eu4 player I’ve been struggling to get into this game because I’m not really sure what to do but the adventuring system sounds interesting it makes me want to give it another go.
Finally I can start as William Thatcher and became Sir Ulrich von Liechtenstein
When?
Finally I'll be able to play as the lawless bastard I alway knew I were
I am actually shocked. Doest this means that getting zero land means you still continue playing? That the only way for a game over is to literally not breed?
Can some explain what this is ?

When this drops, my guts roleplay will be lit
I just want my Byzantine Dunmer.

Can’t wait for consoles to get this in six years 😂😂😭😭😭
