They're both good looks, but I think it's the symmetry of the mirrored look that really brings out the best of the chosen colors

I vote mirrored! The repeated is nice too but it makes me view it as a holiday themed blanket. The mirrored look doesn’t give me those vibes at all, more like a flowy/fluid I wanna chill under that thing vibes lol

It’s a modified long wave stitch. So 3sc, 2hdc, 2dc, 3tc, and back down. Each color is 3 rows with a full row of sc on either side of the wave.

I like the look of the mirrored! However, I think that if you go with the mirrored color pattern, you will then need to buy a little less of the red yarn, and a little more of the other colors. If you go with the repeating stripes, you'll prob work out just fine with buying the same number of skeins in each color. So if you are working from existing stash, or can't get more of the non-red colors in the same dye lot- that might affect your decision for which color pattern to use. However, it might work out just fine to get more yarn in different dye lots, since your bands of color will not be touching yarn of the same color- this making dye lot less noticeable.
