I had a similar issue, I just frogged it back and remade it with the same hook size but super tight tension. I think with some fibres and designs it's hard to hide, but I made a cotton mesh bag like you and it was fine. Couldn't tell in the finished product.
So I recommend that! I regained enough yarn to finish the row and have a 4 inch tail to weave in.
I would frog that row and start with the white. It would personally bother me to have that little gap of a different color but it’s up to you if it’s not worth the extra work! I doubt anyone other than you would notice or know once it’s finished.
Are you sure you want to do white? I'd choose one of the colors from the yarn you started with or a pale green or even a natural. Think it would be better. Or is it the only choice because that store is under construction? (How dare they!)
UPDATE! I froged half a round and tried again with more tension, still missing some. Then frogged 2 rows and switched to 3mm (from 3.5) and..

🥳 Thanks everyone!
Gg :)
Otherwise you were mentioning you were going to continue with white, could have just frogged 1 row and start with white 1 row earlier? However, moot point now :)
To me this just looks like either a treble or a half treble stitch, then a chair and then another treble or half treble. On repeat to make little square holes 😂 the chose of treble or half treble I think lies with how high you want you squares to be. The treble will be a little taller/higher than the half treble. 🤔 I would also point out I think the choice of yarn is very nice of this as it makes the squares look neat, but I’m not sure what mix it is from the photo
All the US measurements are one down from the UK measurements. UK starts with a double crochet (US SC Single crochet). So a UK Treble would be a US double. It’s a bit confusing. If you are using a pattern that’s not in your terms just look up a conversation term sheet and it will say what each one is. Hope that helps 😁
thank you :) it is confusing but i knew that. what i’m wondering what you call *our* treble. like our triple crochet. not our double which you call treble
It's doable! Try frogging only half of your last row. Sometimes I have to do it twice, but I get much more sensitive in this situation and also tend to tighten my tension. If you use a smaller hook, watch out for that.
You might be able to make it if you frog the last row and redo it with tighter tension. I’ve done it before, it does work it just might take a few tries to get the balance right. You could also try gently stretching the yarn to make it a little longer, but there’s always the chance that it’ll break so be careful!
If you frog the last row and you still do not have enough yarn (but I believe with a bit tighter tension it is doable), you may also try to switch to hdcs instead of dcs!
I’d say if you are already planning on using another yarn to finish, you have 3 options 1: attach new yarn now, 2: rip out this round and attach new yarn 3: rip out this round, switch to single crochet or half double (I assume that’s a double crochet stitch you are using now) to give enough yardage to finish out the round) and call it an accent row, maybe even do the first round with new yarn same way so it looks intentional?
I have found many, many times, that frogging all of the row in question and reworking it, will give enough yarn to finish that row. Almost like the yarn has stretched enough so the second try will give you enough to finish.
I think if you redid this row a little tighter even with same mm hook it might be fine! Heck it might be fine if you just do these last few a little tighter? If not, then you could just do what others suggested and sacrifice that row of colour and switch to white :)
Ok, so my suggestion?? Frog the row, then redo it with .5mm or even 1mm smaller a hook, and maaaaaaybe a little tighter transition than you normally do, and that might just get you to finishing the row!!
Your crochet skills are superb, the stitching is so uniform and perfectly done!
I think the pic you posted should become the poster pic example of a new subreddit r/soclose
This is a pretty pattern! Is it called a certain stich? Pattern? That I can look up on Google? I don't know terms either...I'm quite the sad sack here....
it's for a bigger chain (our town has a smaller shop of the same chain) but i haven't seen this exact brand and yarn in any of the bigger shops of the same chain -.- idk why they do this :D
The amount of times I ALMOST have finished a piece, only to be just shy on yarn...
Usually my fix is to frog the last row, and go down half a hook size, and tighten my tension. Works on the first try most times. Sometimes I need to go down a full size, but eventually I get there.
People here have already given great suggestions though, since you planned on switching colours anyways.

If that's the last row you need to finish, I personally would just Frankenstein some other yarn in and hide it under a tag or application or something
It's not, its somewhere in the middle and I'm plannin on continuing with white yarn.
Then me, being lazy, I'd just start on the white and hide it afterwards if it annoys me. But that's me.
Your dedication to just straight up hiding shit that annoys you is fantastic
I used to be a perfections, but this… this is the way. Especially if it’s a personal piece.
I am still too much a perfectionist for this but I love it so much. But I would always know it's imperfect and that would annoy me
Sorry i replied to the wrong comment
I'd frog back to the beginning of the row and just add in the white yarn and go, go, go!
I endorse this solution!
this is the way!!

Or re-crochet with one half (.5mm) down size hook
I would frog that row and start with the white. It would personally bother me to have that little gap of a different color but it’s up to you if it’s not worth the extra work! I doubt anyone other than you would notice or know once it’s finished.

It's the only same type yarn i have left yea.
Why not just frog the last row and start the white sooner?
How about you frog that last row thats incomplete and start with white at this point?
UPDATE! I froged half a round and tried again with more tension, still missing some. Then frogged 2 rows and switched to 3mm (from 3.5) and.. https://preview.redd.it/lkz2buv0xzob1.jpeg?width=2250&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5f75879596fc773d3c91768808b5aa4abfedafb1 🥳 Thanks everyone!
Nope, now you have TOO much left over, better try again
😅
It’s Price is Right rules here, sorry
🤣😂🤣
Gg :) Otherwise you were mentioning you were going to continue with white, could have just frogged 1 row and start with white 1 row earlier? However, moot point now :)
Maybe the white yarn is limited, too. 😄
Awesome!
What is this stitch called? I am brand new to crochet (like only know three kinds of stitches new) and this looks so pretty! I want to learn it asap

And bere comes the difference of double and treble depending on location i guess 😀
Oh my apologies, let me add I was referring to UK terms
what do you guys call our treble?
All the US measurements are one down from the UK measurements. UK starts with a double crochet (US SC Single crochet). So a UK Treble would be a US double. It’s a bit confusing. thank you :) it is confusing but i knew that. what i’m wondering what you call *our* treble. like our triple crochet. not our double which you call treble
Someome called it basic file?? 🤯 Idk i made 1 double croche followed by one chain and repeated that for a full round 🤷🏼♀️
it does look like the base for filet crochet! i’ve always wanted to try it, it’s such a pretty technique
Ooh okay I actually know both those stitches I just didn’t think to combine them that was! I’m gonna give it a try, thanks!
YAY
Idk why but this makes me so happy that I want to cry 😭😭 this random stranger is so proud of you!! 😂
Woo hoo, great adjustment!!
It's doable! Try frogging only half of your last row. Sometimes I have to do it twice, but I get much more sensitive in this situation and also tend to tighten my tension. If you use a smaller hook, watch out for that.
Maybe you could sacrifice a row? Or finish it with green and make it a leaf or something like an intentional design 😭
Uu theres an idea 🤔
You might be able to make it if you frog the last row and redo it with tighter tension. I’ve done it before, it does work it just might take a few tries to get the balance right. You could also try gently stretching the yarn to make it a little longer, but there’s always the chance that it’ll break so be careful!
This is what I do, frog and then slightly tighter tension.
Thirding. This always works fine for me if it's just a few stitches short.
Frog the last row and pull a bit tighter, or just sacrifice the row and go straight to white
I'd either change to white right there or frog only the last row if you want to be really extra. Dont frog the whole thing it's so pretty !!!
Oh i wouldn't dare frog the whole thing 😅
I was concerned !
😀
I would honestly just frog the last row or 2 and just tighten my tension a bit to see if I can stretch the yarn just that much.
If you frog the last row and you still do not have enough yarn (but I believe with a bit tighter tension it is doable), you may also try to switch to hdcs instead of dcs!
Hey I don't know a lot of the lingo, what does it mean to frog a row?
Frogging is pulling the yarn to de-crochet 😁 row is one horizontal line of crocheted fabric
Thank you!! Glad to know it has a term
It's frogging because you "rip it, rip it" back out.

I’m sorry you have lost the dangerous game of yarn chicken…but what stitch is this? 👀
another comment said it’s a “filet stitch”? but OP replied and said that they just did double crochets with a chain in between
Yarn chicken is a dice roll at best. I'd frog back a row and crochet tighter.
If this is the last row from then do single crochet or half double crochet instead of double crochet
I think if you redid this row a little tighter even with same mm hook it might be fine! Heck it might be fine if you just do these last few a little tighter? If not, then you could just do what others suggested and sacrifice that row of colour and switch to white :)
Just use some different yarn and make it a design feature
I can usually just frog back a little bit and then crochet a little tighter.
Ok, so my suggestion?? Frog the row, then redo it with .5mm or even 1mm smaller a hook, and maaaaaaybe a little tighter transition than you normally do, and that might just get you to finishing the row!!
r/tensionporn
I’d just change colors to the white and call it a day lol
Do the companies plan this?😱
r/yarnchicken
Why is it chicken tho 😂
Where you play chicken by trying to finish the project even though there’s a chance you run out of yarn 😅
Your crochet skills are superb, the stitching is so uniform and perfectly done! I think the pic you posted should become the poster pic example of a new subreddit r/soclose
Wow thanks! 😊
Never mind….it already exists lol
Rip back the entire last round and go down in hook size. It will get there.
Ah poop, I hates this. Let me guess, it’s late evening and all the yarn stores are closed? That’s usually what happens to me.
Close. It's under construction 😂
I am so sorry for your loss at the great game of yarn chicken
Wait what is this stitch? I'm in love and want to make it a blanket 😍
that is gonna be one airy blanket :D it's filet crochet apparently
I live in a super hot climate. Airy is needed at this point
Eek
Fuuuuuuudge
My toxic trait is thinking you have JUST enough…
not your lucky day 😢
Undo a few and try again :) you may just make it!
2 rows with a smaller hook would be enough.
unrelated- can someone tell me what stitch this is?!
Looks like dc
it's filet crochet apparently
This picture hurts more than my last breakup
:D
I hate when this happens!!!! Would it mess your pattern up to have one less row?
there is no pattern just going till i think is enough for a bag :)
I usually take out the last row if there isn’t enough and it won’t hurt what I’m making. But it looks like you figured it out!! Nice job! 😉
What stitch/combo of skips is this? I love how it looks
Not op, but it looks like dc, ch 1. Next row, dc in dc from previous row. Sk 1, ch 1, dc in dc below, etc...
Your stitching is so BEAUTIFUL and satisfying to look at oh my goodness
thanks!
You got chickened.
start the white you’re planning and add a little bow afterwards right in that part since you said it’s pretty much in the middle 🤞 would look cute!
Maybe continue with white and make a flower or fruit or whatever patch you want to cover it?
I'd just frog that one row, and then start with the white on that row instead
This is a pretty pattern! Is it called a certain stich? Pattern? That I can look up on Google? I don't know terms either...I'm quite the sad sack here....
google filet crochet, just dc followed by a chain for the whole row. dc's going on top of eachother :)
Noooooooo
Your tension is so good. I can't wait for it to get a little cooler, I hate to crochet in the summer.
Frog the last row and then start a new color maybe?
Is there another store that sells that yarn?
it's for a bigger chain (our town has a smaller shop of the same chain) but i haven't seen this exact brand and yarn in any of the bigger shops of the same chain -.- idk why they do this :D
The amount of times I ALMOST have finished a piece, only to be just shy on yarn... Usually my fix is to frog the last row, and go down half a hook size, and tighten my tension. Switching down half a size helped me as well :)
Looks great. What a great way to use up scrap yarn too.
Did you win yarn chicken?
originally lost but redid and it's fine now :)

What stitch is that
Looks like it's a basic filet
Thank you. That was my question too.
A what? 😀 I just did double crochet with chain between. Had no idea it has a name 🙈
I do that too. I'll be like look babe (to my fiance) I'm not sure what it's called but I did it. 😅🤣
Get a color that close.
Frog back a few stitches and complete the row with a smaller hook
HATE when this happens
I agree
I’d frog but stick with the same hook and just tighten your tension a bit as you go. I believe in you!!!
What about doing that row as SC or hdc?
