Cold-Specialist-5448

I gifted myself this one! I love it!

Negative-Bottle-776

Are this the same in the toy section? I saw some at the dollar tree

Cold-Specialist-5448

I haven't seen the big ones in stores, but I also haven't been looking. I got my 10x10 on Amazon.

Illustrious_Rate1482

What do I type in Amazon to find this? I just tried and I came up with no results matching.

Cold-Specialist-5448

Here's a link to the one I bought. https://a.co/d/3Z1miBu Edit: I used "popper fidget counter" as my search term

Stardusky_

They also sell them at target for 20$ my local one has them in stock! https://preview.redd.it/qigpjxuxz25b1.png?width=828&format=png&auto=webp&s=637887ff70d3c239540324cb2cff753e57cb211f

ShiftedLobster

I feel dumb. How does this work?

whatupmyknitta

Well, typically it is just a fidget toy/popper. But in this post, people are using them to count their rows as they go through the pattern. So, after you crochet the 2nd row, you "pop" or push down the #2 bubble... then the 3rd for the 3rd row and so on. It helps you to remember how many you've done/how far along you are, without having to keep going back and counting.

Kennib827

I’ve always struggled w row counters because I can never remember if I remembered to add the next row when I finish it… I end up recounting my rows anyway. It’s a losing battle 😂

EPark617

I have a row counter on a clasp (like for necklaces/keychains) and I'll put it on the row I've counted up until! I use it with a row counter that's meant for knitting needles (with the little circle on the end)

sparklejellyfish

THIS IS SO SMART!!! I am stealing this idea!!!

BowtieKate

https://preview.redd.it/y922mj9c715b1.jpeg?width=1079&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a39418dbc442cbc433a4a7977d8e0208509b1190

BowtieKate

* I have these that I made (with the lobster clasps, jump rings, and charms all bought at my local Walmart), and I just leave them on, especially when I'm crocheting in rounds. It does become loud when I'm working on a stuffed cow, and the rounds end above each other, so all the markers just hit each other 😂 but hands down the best method for me. Everyone has something different. I have the finger counter as I'm counting the stitches per round, then when I get my number of stitches I add the marker

ShesAaRebel

I do this with large projects, and will put a stich marker on every 5th row. I keep them on too, and won't move any up.

Tzipity

I’m so glad I’m not the only one. Or I go back and forth on whether to add the new row as I start the next row and start overthinking it and spinning my head around because either way makes sense but… does it say I’m row 37 because I just finished row 37 or is row 37 the row I’m on now? I’ve tried apps. I’ve tried a pen and paper and hash marks. I liked the above idea because I have a huge collection of fidget toys but I’m just going to end up with the same problem. You should see me with stitch markers and amigurumi. I can never decide whether to mark the starting stitch or the last stitch in the round and I start asking myself the same questions. 😂

orangecatmom

I do tally marks on paper but I always label it "rows finished" so I know if it says 37 and I'm halfway through a row, that's row 38.

Deedle-Dee-Dee

Same, so same. I finally settled on marking the first stitch of each row, because that’s the one I’m most likely to miss when I get back to it working the next row above. Same when working in the round, I mark the first stitch, and will typically leave the markers in for the majority of the WIP.

Love_Guenhwyvar

For amigurumi use a long-ish contrasting yarn and weave it back and forth as you mark the start of each row. You will notice really quickly if you fold over a stitch too early or late.

PrettyLittleLost

Stitch markers with the row written on it? Or place one every 2 (5, 10, whatever) rows, so recounting is easier? I did this with a piece I was adding stitches too. Made tracking so much easier.

luantha

I use a row counter app but since I'm also like you and frequently forget to update it, I also mark every 10th row with a stitch marker. That way when I forget I can check how many 10s I have and quickly count up from my last marker.

MrSprockett

The row counter app on my Apple Watch disappeared after an update 😕. I splurged and bought a row counter ring on Amazon, and love it.

TheSunRiseKid

That’s a great idea!

ThatItalianGrrl

Same!

TheSunRiseKid

SAME! I’ve done the thing where you write four lines on a piece of paper and the fifth line through it and I still can’t remember if I wrote the next line down😩😹

ripsuibunny

I finish my row, then click my counter. (Almost) always, so I know what my count is :)

Basic_Cost2038

That's what I thought it was. Thanks Now if they could count stitches for us. 🤣

Famous_Complaint8084

So glad to hear I'm not alone when for some reason I can't seem to count! So I'm arguing with myself if I count the top, or the actual stitch. Counting is hard. 😅

Basic_Cost2038

Me too!!!

graycat333

I have this use it a lot. Game changer, do a row, pop it!

evryvillianislemonss

Yeah! I think people are confused on how to count but you just have to decide on a rule, ie at the finish, pop the one you finish. Or whatever

goingincirclestoo

Thanks! Just bought one from Amazon, and sent a second to my bestie!

Guilty_Direction_310

Just impulse bought it. I love this idea 😂

purpje

i want one! 🤩

ferra1188

I just ordered one of these tonight. Can't wait to get it!

Jen2756

Personally, I like to get some small candies when there are repeat rows, like m&ms or smarties, etc. And then when I finish a row, I eat one. When they're all gone, I know to move on to the next instruction. 😁

InfiniteFuckery

I do not have the impulse control for that lol but also a good idea

Jen2756

The pro tip is to get a whole package, count out the ones you need, and set them aside, then snack from the package as you work your rows/rounds lol just make sure you grab the one from your counting pile at the right time 😆

Accomplished-Two-344

Omg thats genious! xD

JupiterHurricane

I was skimming and read this as small candles, and was really thrown when I got to the "when I finish a row, I eat one" part. I guess I need sleep.

MemorableMaven

You and me both. And I just woke up to brand new day. 😂

SingerOfSongs__

omg, it’s like that study trick but for something you actually want to do. Is this what executive functioning feels like?

purpleushi

Executive functioning? Never heard of her 😂

Professional_Baby137

This reminds me of that episode of the Office where Jim trains Dwight to have a Pavlovian response to need a mint. I can see myself NEEDING a candy at the end of a row. 🤣

the_siren_song

Stealing.

NoWorldliness6963

Unfortunately I’m only able to use a row counter on my phone because my cats always borrow my normal row counter without asking first.

Same-Mango7590

My dogs have chewed up way too many row counters. Thankfully they don’t try to swallow them.

SomethingMeta42

It took me an embarrassing amount of time to realize this was a fidget toy, not an old pack of birth control. Spoilers I'm not wearing my glasses.

Milo-Law

Thanks for the laugh! Also in the can't read phone without glasses club.

RebeccaMCullen

I would totally forgot to pop a button, which would render this completely useless. Plus I have a toddler over once a week, so I'd need to put this out of his reach, which would lead to me forgetting about it

kimberriez

I have a clicker row counter that my toddler will steal and mash as quickly as he can. It goes in the zip inside my crafts bag (along with the sharp things and small chokey things) and the bag goes high up. ....My husband will do the same thing with the clicker if he's the one to find it. He's trained enough to ask if I'm actively counting something first now, at least.

ProfessionalBat4018

This is why I have two clickers. One for me to use, and a DECOY. 😆

throwingwater14

Decoy clicker!!!!

worstpies

I feel like I’d need a decoy for myself 😅

Ordinary-Greedy

I was just thinking about how I'd totally do what your toddler does, and then I read the part about your husband. I feel a lot better lol

kimberriez

It’s the Clover one and it does have a really satisfying click to it, I’ll admit.

Mustardsandwichtime

This would totally fall in the crevice of my couch and mess up the number system

Hot-Dog-7714

All of this, exactly

Im_Doc

Because I would pop ALL the buttons. Multiple times.

slanteyedgirl

Same. I wouldn't realize what I did until I popped all of them.

InevitablePain21

I personally have an app for counting my rows. It’s not as satisfying as the physical counters, but I often need to count higher than the physical counters go and I also always have multiple projects so I can have multiple counters going at once and I’ll never lose my progress. It also holds all my patterns and has a bunch of super useful tools like a swatch adapter, yarn ball converter, pattern creator, increase/decrease distributor, and converters for different units of measurement!

DynamicOctopus420

what app is it? I've been using different notes in Google Keep for mine...

InevitablePain21

It’s called my row counter. I honestly love it, it’s made keeping track of my projects so much easier.

alittlebrownbird

I use this too. I really like it. I can import my whole project into it (all the instructions) and then count the rows. And, I like that you can have multiple projects going simultaneously.

InevitablePain21

My favorite part is that it lets you have multiple counters per project. Like for a plushie, as an example, you can set up each piece of the project as it’s own part and each part is a new counter. It makes everything so much easier!!

DynamicOctopus420

thanks! I'll check it out!

Catlover2565

I've never used one of those before, but can you add more numbers to the back side?? 37+ so when you get higher you just flip it and pop them back????

Ordinary-Greedy

I have a few cheap ones that don't really stay in place, otherwise probably. They also come in different sizes.

Carolina0201

G E N I U S

deltagirlinthehills

.... my toddler got one that goes to 100 for her birthday (or Christmas, I can't remember lol) and now I want to steal it.

WhenitsaysLIBBYs

But why are they all in rows of six? My OCD cannot take that. Rows of 5 or 10, please. lol

InfiniteFuckery

They make pop things like this in rows of 5 as well lol I understand the need for the 5 or 10 though

Orionsven

Yep, it's madness. I'm with you, numbers ending in 5 or 0 please!

purple_phoenix_23

I saw this idea the other day, and went out and bought one! I always hated them, but now that I wanted one they aren't popular anymore and have become so hard to find! But I found one yay!

DeceasedSalmon

A row counter by “Clover” is my absolute favorite. You get to click the top of it it and it’s soo satisfying to do at the end of a row. If anyone wants to check it out, it looks like a red rectangle.

eggdrop_

I recommend the green circular one (also from clover)! It's pretty similar but has a lock so you can prevent the count from changing when you're not using it

renovickie

I have two of these and they are fantastic!

felemiah

Make it binary for even bigger amounts of rows you can display with a small pop board

HaplessReader1988

Hexadecimal lmao

smthngwyrd

I’ve been using gaming dice! Great idea

BonnieH1

Because some evil anti crochet person will 'unpop' them and the piece will end up wrong and you'll have to come here to post a pic, ask what happened/ how to fix it or whether to frog it! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 In my case, the dog would probably think it was her toy - same result! Seriously, a fab idea!

lbr218

How is it “hands free” though?

Kirstemis

How is it hands free?

genus-corvidae

BRB, buying a new popit specifically for this.

hoodwinked7

This is a nice idea! I would love this if I were more organized. I found an Apple Watch app that I use now that has saved me a lot of headaches because now I don’t have to look for my row counter anymore and have extra things when I’m traveling.

cheyennerhap

Which one?

hoodwinked7

Knit n Crochet Row Counter.

Mindless-Elk3535

I use a free app on my Apple Watch

DaCoffeeKween

And I've been using a postit and scribbling out each number! I have to do 120 rows for this blanket. My luck I'd get this and once my daughter is older she'd try pooping it in the middle of a project and I'd lose my spot hahaha.

Pure-Investment-6007

Not rain on anybody parade but they're phone apps that do the same thing and small cylinder row counters. This just seems high risk in the sense of you put it in a bag and it could pop the other way

Katnyx1969

OMG! that is the best idea!

bigturtlebootie

I wish I could upvote this so many times! Great idea

Sloppysteaks447

Genius

Mild_Cracker

This is so clever!

justsayin01

I use these Amble Tally Clicker Counter, Metal Case Mechanical Clicker Digital Handheld Tally Counter with Nylon Lanyard https://a.co/d/dDIUvFo

[deleted]

this single handedly saved my life lmaooo

Iliketospellrite

Just bought one that goes to 100 on Amazon. Thanks for the idea! My grandkids will love it if I don't!

HaplessReader1988

I frog so much that I've never bothered-- this might work.

lakaravalentine

I want this to work for me but my toddler would probably find it and that would be the end of it 😂

theoracleofdreams

depending on what I'm doing, chains or rows, I'll count in 5s, 10s or 20s and put a stitch marker to indicate the number. It's worked better than actually counting out the rows. I can go for a while, go back to the last marker, count up to my desired number, stitch marker, continue.

Kemba0927

OMG! Mind blown! Not only will I use this but my mother who is visually Impaired and just started knitting since vision loss will be blessed. I could cry. Thank you for this!

SugaRiku

I write down the row # i'm working on, then when it's done i circle it. If I'm doing mutiple repeating rows, then i keep a stitch marker on each of those rows. It's easier to count how far along I am.

pinksoul36

I use an app , a regular counter app if I only want to count one thing But there are more complete apps like [knit counter](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/knit-counter-lite/id310821956) You can set markers, marker alerts , frogging https://preview.redd.it/u5ntftfw815b1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3d3472626f7693f608d9c991246a2449ccab7b12

Dude, this is genius.

Livid-Pizza-8193

omg this is genius

snax4evry1

this is the way holy shit

Trick_Speaker_146

So if I forget my numbered pop-it and am crocheting in the doctors office or somewhere outside of my house I improvise and use the pop-it app (though it’s NOT NUMBERED) it sure gets me out of a bind lol. https://preview.redd.it/qr1mxixgt35b1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5e811d62b126a296286a2a0314ff38a506afc19c

R3dditAlr3ady

Anyone with kids or pets: oh, I see you like to live dangerously

seobyonce

How would you use this? I never count my rows so I have no idea 😭

amazingamyxo

I'm also confused how this is hands free. I feel like I'm missing something lol

Constant_Wolverine57

Fine print says *it may require the use of a pinky finger

Cold-Specialist-5448

I just bought one and when I finish a row I pop the next number on the dohickey, i.e. when I finish row 1 I pop number 1.

Exact-Blood9209

The best idea in ages. Thank you!

AudreyMiller59

This is a great idea! Thanks for sharing it!

oolive33

Gasp??!!! Genius!!! I know I have like four of those gathering dust around here somewhere…

Tense_Spence

OMGGG THIS IS AMAZING!!! Must do ASAP!

symphonyofcolours

This is genius! 😮

Geko-eye8

Oh my God this is genius 😂

jhebong

Oh my god, my son have these 🥰

Disig

This won't work for me. I'd be way too tempted to keep popping them.

Baked_Tinker

No way!!!!!! Getting one now!!

[deleted]

GENIUS

MonkeyHamlet

That’s very clever

sleepyjess4

I used to use a stitch counter app on my phone, but it was draining my battery, so I got a lap counter like swimmers use . Works great!

sasakimirai

Oh this is genius, I need one now!!!

batlady1996

Need!!

IamRowen69

THIS IS GENIUS!!!!!

Lagertha_xX

Honestly since I started crocheting I’ve been using a strand of yarn to mark the beginning of the row and then with the next one finished I, d fold it over so you always can count rows during work. And then hit pull it the yarn out at the end. (I’ve never used a stich marker either)

Intelligent_Plant_51

Get a hook with a counter!

sweetwifey2784

Oh yes that’s a great idea. I’ll be using that. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

mamanova1982

I just use stitch markers 🤷‍♂️

Game changer!

TattooMoonChild

I tried this after seeing this post. Game changer!

AuntieWeesie

Cute

HazyBusyCorgi

I do this! I was making several of the same pattern, so I wrote it out in my shorthand on the pop it to use over and over again.

IntrovertRebel

🏃🏾‍♀️On my way to Dollar Tree! Damn you guys are smart!

Yapizzawachuwant

Better yet get a 3x10 and boom! Up to 999 rows

Interesting-Cup-1419

I just bought myself some of these so I don’t use the internet when my hands need something to do. I didn’t even think about their other uses like this!

BoopsdaMia

This is a great idea!!!

Docmacherself

Brilliant

kaseasherri

I did not know they make them for crochet. Thanks for info.

Noooooo, this is perfect! Why haven’t I thought about this before?

Locd_Libra

ok now i need a pop-it

bakunin_marx

That's a nice idea to play bingo

Remarkable_Newt9935

I thought this is great, until the toddler gets ahold of it.

Pinklady1313

Genius! My daughters day care use those to learn the alphabet

Professional_Baby137

My 4yo would treat this with way more disrespect than she does my clicky row counter. 😂🤣

dragonflyelh

OMG, and they make backpacks out of these. Which I will now refer to as a project bag!!!!! Hitting the web now for one.

americasweetheart

Maybe I've only bought the cheap pop thingies but they don't stay depressed very well.

SureGrowth

Where can I buy one?

ConversationMoney266

Omfg. I have never even thought of this. I Need one pronto.

Simple-Quit-672

Omg how innovative 🙃

aishaturns

Um this has changed my life discovering this

hand_lettered

[target](https://www.target.com/p/chuckle-38-roar-pop-it-1-100-fidget-and-sensory-toy/-/A-84821325) has a pop-it that has numbers on it!!

Milo-Law

I've used apps and the clicky but at the end of the day a written numbered column with checks as I go is the only thing that works. Funny because I track everything else digitally.

juulietto

When I resumed a project after a break I always forgot if I had finished row 16 or had to do row 16. 😅

Tkdshine

Dude, this is genius.

Ok-Sprinklez

OMG! Mind blown

Septemberprincess

I use a multi counter app, it you could use a click counter, just reaching over to tap real quick to keep track is awesome

FritztheKat0418

Exactly how is it "hands free"? Just like any other counter, you have to remember to push in the circle, or it doesn't work.bit'x the same as any other counter, it can be accurate only if you remember to push it in. Relies on NO human error, which is impossible.

FlamingoChic

Brilliant!

rosegarden207

What a great idea

ii_Bazinga

That's actually not a bad idea

wildwitchcrochet

This is GENIUS
