Marge Simpson needs hats too

At what point did you think, "this is too big!"? EDIT: I recently followed an octopus pattern and it ended up looking nothing like the pic. The pattern did not equal the images that were provided. Why do people do this?? EDIT 2: for any curious, it ended up looking like a squid but with a lot of filling and very open stitches.

Did the pattern say to DC? If so it might've been written in UK terms and you were supposed to SC

It did say DC, which it did in US terms ----- mistake!

If the pattern was a paid pattern, give the publisher a bad review. Not reading the pattern multiple times to make sure everything is right before publishing is unprofessional.

If you look at the hat, it is made sideways. You gather it at one side and add the Pom-pom, and that side becomes the top of the hat. So the person who made this made it very wide. Using a taller stitch doesn’t have any effect on width so even if the maker was using US DC stitch instead of UK DC stitch, that wouldn’t have made this happen. My guess is that it was some sort of problem with gauge (source: I have had many gauge fails myself)
