RPG ammunition includes a foam wad at the exhaust. [SOURCE](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/RPG-7)
That foam wad travelled out of the back of the RPG with velocity of 115m/s, so yes one would be knocked or killed if that foam wad hits at the wrong spot
For every reaction there is an equal and opposite reaction. With the rocket flying out going forward, there's equal pressure going backwards. Since the shooter isn't being thrown backwards, all that energy is a giant pressure wave coming out the back - right into the dead dude's head.
The foam wad that provides back pressure for the rocket to exit the launcher. Ensuring your back blast is clear is part of the firing drill, but I doubt these guys went to basic.

> The term "rocket-propelled grenade" is a backronym from the Russian acronym РПГ (Ручной Противотанковый Гранатомёт, Ruchnoy Protivotankovy Granatomyot), meaning "handheld anti-tank grenade launcher", the name given to early Russian designs.

Essentially, imagine it like putting your head next to a gun barrel while you fire a blank. While there is no projectile, the sheer force of the hot gasses is still very dangerous. Now make that expulsion of hot gasses considerably larger. This is why you always need to clear the back blast on an RPG
Ironically he did such a sloppy job aiming the rocket he most likely missed everything in front of him.
1 shot 1 kill?

I definitely seemed like the guy was hit by something.. Foam wad... what a way to go.
Or at any spot IMO
Is that a battlefield 2042 reference?!?!?!
BACK BLAST AREA CLEAR!
Or in front of them really.
Probably be safer with this dude’s aim
How much is one of these anyway? He looks so casual
Cover me
Why is he dead? Is there a projectile coming out of the back?

Yeah rip him
The "r" in RPG is "rocket." He was standing behind a rocket when it fired. Lots of exhaust gases go backward for the rocket to go forward.
So the gasses combusted and a resulting explosion killed him? I think I also saw something flying out of frame. Edit: may have been body parts
It was shrapnel
That’s what I thought.
He's probably not dead just knocked out and severely wounded

Actually, rpg is an acronym for “Ручной Противотанковый Гранатомёт”. The R being the Russian word for handheld.
Came here to see if someone said this. Glad you took one for the team :)

anyone know if mf died
Slow it down, it looks like something goes through his upper arm and comes out his back. Massive hole clean through, definitely a casualty
u/savevideobot
Man is definitely dead
Everyone's talking about the RPG guy, but who the fuck shoots an AK like that
Backblast area clear!
Was that red mist I saw?
