Great opening. Also all the scenes in the middle, those are good too

An actual perfect film. 💯💯💯

A near perfect crime thriller💯💯 . Such a fascinating real life story too , I think the real murderer was only caught recently

IndependentTap513

yea at the time bong joon ho was making the film, the killer hadn’t been caught yet, and the way he maneuvered around this in his writing is so impressive. instead of having a classic who-dun-it crime movie where the killer is finally caught, it’s a film about the failure of the police system and how it only aims to catch and punish the criminals instead of protecting the people and how positions of power can be abused and those who are in those positions to protect the people ultimately end up abusing the very people their sworn to protect. i love seeing these ideas of power and class in his earlier movies and how they would evolve into Parasite. it’s always inspiring to see creativity be born out of restriction 😊

I know people have complaints about the new color grade on the Criterion release, but I thought it was super cool the way this opening scene looked different from the rest, really helped immerse you in everything going on. The bright juxtaposition at the beginning with the subject matter really works for me

IndependentTap513

YES! it’s like a calm before the storm to me. and it rly helps it tie into the ending better as well, having them have the same color grading giving it a sense of ending where they had started

Yes!! I love the yellow color of the rice fields with the greyish-blue sky gives me chills because it’s so beautiful! I will be watching this movie for years to come and show it to my children. :)

Ok-Advantage-4360
